By Paulo Coelho
When her brother was born, Sa-chi Gabriel begged her parents to leave her alone with the baby. They refused, fearing that, as with many four-year-olds, she was jealous and wanted to mistreat him.
But Sa-chi showed no signs of jealousy. And since she was always extremely affectionate towards her little brother, her parents decided to carry out an experiment. They left Sa-chi alone with their new-born baby, but kept the bedroom door ajar so that they could watch what she did.
Delighted to have her wish granted, little Sa-chi tiptoed over to the cradle, leaned over the baby and said:
‘Tell me what God is like. I’m beginning to forget.’

THIS IS SO CHAMING…and must be too true :)
love,

some people have said that we can see
God through the eyes of a child. perhaps they are actually seein God. because their innocence make them pure. so when is it that we start losing our precious innocece? well when we start getting older and discover the misteries of this life where innocence is not apreciated. and after seeing so much brutality ,depravity, and corruption in a life where the virtue is replaced by vice.,and frivolity and cruelty take love’s place we are left with an empty soul, a soul without innocence without God…
can we return to innocence?
as i noticed, child is the best example of clean life- just as it should be without all these lies.

Yes, I believe children are closer to God than anyone really. Then they learn un-Godly like things. Its ashame. It might sound a bit corny but sometimes when I look at my niece and nephew I become emotional like I’m looking at God/Love/Light. There is such a purity about them.
I have been fascinated with the books you have written and am amazed by the messages and lessons you share through your writing. I believe that you may have a unique method of writing that involves channeling information from highly evolved souls. I am sincerely curious about this idea and hope that my comment and questions do not offend you in any way.
Recently, when I was reading a book by Dr. Brian Weiss on the subject of reincarnation ” Many Lives Many Masters” I was struck by the fact that you both mentioned a spirit guide by the name Philemon. Do you believe in reincarnation and Spirit Guides or Spirit Masters and if so do you have any personal experiences with such guides or masters that you would be willing to share?
I would be truly honored if you would respond to my
questions.
Your work is phenomenal!

Ya ! the child like innocence - raging like fire when angry and smiling joyously the very next moment if amused, children carry no scars on their soul.
But that fall from innocense into the world of turbulance is essential ( otherwise God would not have made the system like that right ! ). As for gaining that innocense once again ! it’s not that difficult, we just need to make that decision and then remember our decision as we go about our daily lives, but let’s be warned such a decision may change the way we treat life and also the way life treats us. Are we willing to change?
With Diana baby here in my belly, who will be born in January I feel myself closer to God on this Earth than ever before…
Diana already teaches me a lot and we discussed that when she will be born we will try to stay innocent enough to feel and know God in and around us in every moment.
I already learned a lot from my innocent baby and the two of us can let Heaven come to Earth…
With Love,
Lilla
This made me sit back in my seat and take a deep breath so simple and greatly touching!!!
OH my i’m sharing this with my co-workers for sure!!
love you all

Innocence is such a precious gift from God!
Innocence, like love are universal values and cannot be destroyed or lost forever. The only problem we have is that we cover them with the dirt and mud of mistrust, hatred, envy, jealousy, stingy behaviour and so on.
Sometimes we remember all good things that are given to us by the Supreme Energy and Power of Love and we become innocent again.
Innocence is often associated in our daily experiences of grown-ups with stupidity, vulnerability… we are very often afraid that when changing ourselves for the better, the others will laugh at us. In fact, this is just a prejudice: being good doesn’t mean that you are a fool. When you are innocent, you are also pure, wise and strong. You have good discernment, you are balanced and enjoy life, no matter what obstacles are put in front of you by others or by yourself.
When we are innocent, obstacles and usual sacrifices become challenges, like when we were children and we were playing. The rules rise naturally from our souls, and the greatest rule is that of love, because when you have your heart melt in the Ocean of Love, you learn what respect, gratitude, compassion, trust, security, joy, all mean; for short: our existence becomes blissful.
With my small pupils I had beautiful experiences: they simply hugged me, for no apparent reason, stroke my hair, just smiled, kissed me on my cheeks, put little hearts drawn on pieces of paper and next to them : “We love you, you are the greatest teacher in the whole world,” little lockers to their hearts and the key also drawn next to them… How can you not love such wonderful souls? :-)
This is innocence: when we feel good inside, when we appreciate what we have and want others feel great and acting for the benefit of all.
We all can do something like these above mentioned, just for the sake of joy, but first we must rediscover joy inside our hearts and simply let it flow.
Love and appreciation,
Carmen Larisa
Yes, children esp. babies seems like angels. No problems. No concerns. No worries. Just love and peace within that reflect God’s love, peace, and serenity. Knowing that once I’m like them makes me glad and wonder… where did my wings and halo go? :)
Agree with Aditya.
During the course of our lives, we develop important skills to deal with this world of manifestations. These skills enable us to learn about and manifest at least some of our original potential. Children love learning! In fact, they can’t wait to loose their “innocence”.
All of us have this urge (some of us more than others) to rediscover the core potential of our being, and we know that this is only made possible by learing as much as we can about nature.
It is like a wheel, going from total innocence to full understanding by a sometimes painful process of learning.
However, once the true potential has been rediscovered it immediately becomes like gravity, just as natural and just as powerful. Then we can do nothing but fulfilling that purpose.
Innocence on a different level.
That is a charming story. Luckily there are some wonderful people who manage to keep the child alive inside them no matter how many years they live or what complications they experience. Sometimes I have found the innocence and wisdom of a child in the hearts of the most unlikely people and it is always a pleasure and a privilidge to meet them.
One of the things I enjoy about your books is that you highlight such people.
¿Por qué debemos luchar por ellas?
Porque son INJUSTAS
Por eso mismo. Porque sólo la palabra lo dice todo.
I have to girls, one is for and the other just had her first birthday yesterday. Indeed life’s gifts come in different packages. And my children are God’s constant reminder that He is ever present in my life.
- dijo a muchacho.
-No entiendo. No entiendo.- Dice con absoluta inocencia.
-Yo tampoco. Yo tampoco.- Dice Confucio.- Me contradigo.
¿Por qué luchar por las desigualdades?
Porque muchas son injustas.
Siento haber puesto aquí mis mensajes, no hubo forma de ponerlo en el espacio. Lo siento. Gracias.
A veces, luchar es inevitable. Los humanos tienen sentimientos. Quien tiene sentimientos ama. Quien ama quiere lo mejor para todos.
I guess we all need that reminder that there really is no space between us and the divine. I love how you set it up, the parents thinking in one direction and the sister moving in another.
Let me try…
God is like the Sun providing heat
for growth and for warmth -
Only, God is more powerful than that.
God is like the Galaxy
infinite, magical and stunning -
Only, God is still larger than that.
God is like a baby tri-created
immaculate, intentional, and precious -
Only, God is far beyond that.
It just occurred to me that people often say “Thank God!” when a disaster is averted, or when they win something unexpected. So perhaps God has to do with luck, more than people credit him with.
bo0om paulo, kudos,,,ge ge ga ga;-),
when our children are born, they remind us that what we need , is always born ahead of us. why we lose this innocence? the present system of values, education and no thought has failed miserably. there is no time to let this transform at our pace, we have drifted so far from nature that we believe replanting trees is like washing away our sins of cutting them in the first place. Each life form has evovled an eon to be there for us , in case we need them. like most medicines have come from plants. by chopping and pesticiding entire eco cycles of life…am aghast to have written this, man oh man wipe awaya those cobwebs from your mind and shake that lethargy from your bones, or just play with your children.-,

But is Innocence really the point here?
Before the child is born, its’ soul/mind/spirit is in the timeless, immeasurable ‘pre-existence’
- with God, in Spirit…it has no Life but for what it is, shall be, in the loving heart of the parents…and the sister knew this, her being young, and knew the world which she was growing accustomed to was different, has different rules and values. - to which we should not bend.
(materialism, greed, fear, etc)
I’m not saying that innocence has nothing to do with it; just that, - I don’t know- the universe inside the womb is as mystical and magical as the universe inside our head….
Here’s a story;
A five year old boy listening to his mother talk to a friend about her labours of giving birth.
He remarks that he can remember the doctors bringing him into the world;
‘It was all dark and warm and lovely - then it was all bright light and busy with people I did not know’ he said.
‘Dark and warm and lovely?’ said his mother. ‘But you are afraid of the dark!’
‘Yes’ the little boy said. ‘I am now, and I did not like coming into the light- but I’m used to it now.’
One can only say; HMmm; interesting- I add it to the file named ‘One day…I’ll understand’
LOVE all.
PS. Yes - Let the children play - the Spirit teaches all things.
Dear Paulo,
First and foremost, thank you for your work, it’s been a privilege for all these years to have read your books and been inspired by them.
I’d like to respond to this beautiful post and also to the “Warrior of Light” weekly email that I received today, because both I believe are related subject. I want to talk about this part in the email : “Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro
Strolling along the promenade, I hear a young woman saying to another in a very convincing voice: “I’ve programmed my life in the following way …”
That made me wonder: does she take into account things that happen just when we are not expecting them? Has she considered that maybe God has a different plan, a far more interesting one? Has she thought seriously about the hypothesis that, by including other people in her program, she might be interfering in different ideas and projects?
I am not sure whether the sentence I overheard was born of inexperience or total delirium.”
If I may say so, I believe there is a 3rd alternative to your conclusion. This alternative is based on the belief that our “soul” for a lack of a better word travels through times from body to body and that GOD is US, all of us, the spirit world found on the other side of life.(I see a post/answer here about Brian Weiss and I am not surprised). The 3rd alternative to your conclusion is that maybe this lady your overheard was talking about the life and the path she chose before getting reincarnated. You see, I believe that we choose our life lesson before coming back into a bodily form. So in other words we “program” our life. Of course people and events will interfere with it, and that’s the real purpose of it as the path is more important than the destination to learn our lesson, but one does not go against the other, they actually quite compliment each other.
What the little girl says in your story is quite fascinating, she almost speaks as an “old soul” that inevitably growing up in a fairly new body forgets what it is on the other side in order to better achieve the purpose of the life she has “programmed” for herself. We have to forget who is GOD to better rediscover and find him/her again at the end of our journey when we cross over again. And asking a new born baby is probably the closest you can get to GOD as his/her soul is so newly reincarnated…
It’s just what I believe.
With much Light,
Isabelle
Pardon me Mr. Coelho, I wasn’t able to ask permission yesterday to post again in my blogsite this daily message entry of yours. I just decided the last minute before I logged out because I found it just touchy because at one point, I too underestimated my eldest’s ability to love her sister. I learned my lesson though.
Dear Marjo,
you are most welcome to publish the story in your blog - as long as you mention the source.
Love
Paulo
Dearesr Paulo,
It is so often that we under estimate the power of the child. I’m not sure what makes a child often said to be closer to God. Is t because he or she is innocent? untouched by this world? or is it because he or she was just created? Her soul just as close to God? Children are really beautiful. This story is absolutely lovely Paulo.
:)
Thank you for being,
