Value and money

By Paulo Coelho

Ciccone German tells the story of a man who, thanks to his enormous wealth and infinite ambition, decided to buy everything he possibly could. Once he had filled his many houses with clothes, furniture, cars and jewels, the man decided to buy still more things.

He bought ethics and morality, and thus was born corruption.

He bought solidarity and generosity, and indifference came into being.

He bought justice and its laws, bringing impunity into the world.

He bought love and feelings, and the result was pain and remorse.

The most powerful man in the world bought all the material goods he wanted to possess and all the values he wanted to master. Then one day, drunk on so much power, he decided to buy himself.

Despite all his money, he could not do it. At that precise moment, there was born in the consciousness of the Earth the only thing on which no one can put a price – self-worth.

p.s how i wish president bush read todays comment and realize that he is making all our and humanities life more miserable. may he realize his self worth and wonder at all the worth of all those Iraqi, american, and all other countries in the world. may he see the light, lets bless him into heaven here and now. my point is , when opec was cutting down production to keep a barrel of crude at 20-25$. here comes bush and with a push of his pushy touch, he in one stroke made every ones life so unaffordable, and harder. all for the want of a few more printed paper.
love , lets love this bush too, am sure his father coudnt spare him enough time.

    bo0om paulo,
i would like to add that we as humanity cannot yet put a price on life, any life.
one must always remember my friends,
    that,
    it is not,
    we,
    who own this land,
    but the land,
    that we,
    belong to.
    love…

WOW! This is so real. The world is full of these kinds of feelings, and how do we get read off then? Since we have already determent what is being rich, and what is being poor. We had filled the world with limitations for people to be able to acquire all the material stuff they think needed. But the reality is that what we really need to have, it is not material at all; and until humanity understands this, we are not going to move forward to be the higher beings that we were born to be. We had may it a point to decided what is most important in life. By putting different kings of values in people’s abilities to survive; we had decided that a Doctor is more important than a Gardener. And the reality is that both functions are as important on this earth. So why minimize one and maximize the other. Because at one point man decided that material stuff will make them whole and we forgot all about our essence.

people dont know their self worth sometimes so they lack self respect and sell themselves for cheap because they dont think they can do any better….

beleive in oneself and your abilities and though things hard, it will get you to keep going, because you will not be cheated.

wow this message is great… i believe that besides love and health, money is one of the important things in life if not the most imporant. money makes you powerful but not neccesaryly happy or unhappy. depends on the situation. many people have said ” i preffere to be poor and happy rather that rish and miserable”. but is not alway like that on the contrary, how often do we see the news lets say about Honduras. children dying of hunger , of diseases, and their parents dying of dispear and impotence because they can’t do nothing. many of this children can’t go to school because their parents can’t afford it. so they are sent to the streets to work. are these people poor? yes. are these people happy? i don’t think so. on the other hand i think someone with money and power could be happy. as long as they make good choises and help the less fortunates ones.
i definetely agree that no one absolutely no one can put a price on self- worth.
