Today’s Question by Aart Hilal

by Paulo Coelho on January 2, 2008

Is it a condition, in a novel, that the war of the good should always win over the bad, even that in reality we face other experiences?

I may sound romantic, but when you use violence to fight violence, you generate more violence. We are free because we are committed without being forced to do so. Evil is more related to our attitudes to other people, and from other people towards us. Evil lives into the details. Everything is a matter of attitude.

I do believe that a person has a personal legend to fulfill, and his/her attitude will either help or destroy his/her neighborhood. What is a personal legend? It is the reason why we are alive. We have dreams, that are not necessarily the dreams that our parents, or society has for us. So, we must get rid of the idea of fulfilling what people expect us to do, and start to do what we expect from our lives. This is in The devil and Miss Prym: “dare to be different”. You are unique, and you have to accept you as you are, instead of trying to repeat other people’s destinies or patterns.

Insanity is to behave like someone that you are not. Normality is the capacity to express your feelings. From the moment that you don’t fear to share your heart, you are a free person.

“Insanity is to behave like someone that you are not. Normality is the capacity to express your feelings. From the moment that you don’t fear to share your heart, you are a free person.”

So true. I wish those who experienced failures and disappointments would press on and never bury themselves in order to protect their heart from more hurt. By doing so they create their own prison and the ability to experience love, happiness and success in their life. Thank you so much for your words.

Beautiful words in your message, dear Paulo and in your readers’s messages too! :-)
Happy birthday, Leaf! May you be blessed and have serenity in your heart and mind! :-)
It is so true, when you are really free, you are not afraid to show the real you…
I believe that in order to evolve it is very important to have our hearts and minds in perfect harmony. When they are one, when our attention is melted in our hearts, we act in the right way. When the mind is integrated in the heart, decisions are conscious because the power of the two is now stronger: “two eyes are better than one.” I picture a connection, a strong thread of light between my mind and heart and I feel better afterwards. With a little effort, miracles can happen in our lives because when we really believe in God, God believes in us, too! We should deserve being trusted in by our deeds. Action speaks our thoughts.
And when thoughts come from the heart, success comes too because we act in Light and Love!

Love and appreciation,
Carmen Larisa

P.S. I simply love the sword of light but the background is too dark and I think it is not easy at all to read the texts. The contrast is too big. What about another colour or shade? Maybe blue, silver or green,or another colour you like :-) The decision is yours of course… :-) I hope it is not too much of me but this is what I feel. Just a suggestion…

Thanks, Kathleen and Agnieszka
LOL
I was just going to say to Fam
WOW you sound wise enough to be much older

So, I say it now Fam, may that acceptance of Life and your wisdom always be a gift to you, and may you go far and be blessed on your journey.
xxxx

PS
My realisation came as thus
it is hard to give
and hard to love
because we have been taken from so much
and we have been hurt so much by loving
….so then am I afraid of giving
am I afraid of loving? I was.
Does being instantly and subconsciously angry make me/others feel better – no. And did it kill me, or my spirit to love and give and be hurt?
No, I survived
and better than that
when we realise that we can love more
and be loved more
and give more
and be given more
we have the strength and willpower, because we have fought and won, been hurt and survived, scars and all, to stand up and carry on with our journey in confidence.

I have seen god…infact I raised him from the dead and he gave me a hug and wiped away my tears – you may take that metaphorically if you wish, I actually say it literally.
Now I rest in this haven, enjoying each moment and looking forward to the challenges ahead.
God in everyone and everything
bliss moments to all
love
Libh J Patience

“Insanity is to behave like someone you are not” – its also cowardice.
“Normality is the capacity to express your feelings” – its also frightening.
“From the moment you don’t fear to share your heart, you are a free person” – so true and one reason I tend to love people who wear their heart on their sleeve. I admire their courage.

For me, a novel is not merely something that a writer writes whatever in, nor should it be directly real or unreal.I believe that a novel is drawn out of reality, yet leaves to the writer’s discretion how he wants the entire story to be. It’s a form of accentuating freedom of expression.

It may be a cliche to have the good win over the bad, but in life, that is what we want to happen. It doesn’t always happen in real life; nevertheless, the struggle between the urpight and the crooked is not judged by the outcome of a single battle. It is judged by how we fought the battles and how we find the strength to fight again regardless of the losses or victories that we have achieved.

All of us desire a good life. We all want to be happy, whether or not we care to admit it. All of us has the right and opportunity to have that privilege; however, it is up to us how we reel that goodness to our direction. Everything we need to have must come to us by the means of our own dignified effort. Life is hard, but it doesn’t mean that our hearts have to harden along with it. The world can be cruel and we cannot defy that; it is up to us to uplift the quality of our life.

But we cannot do it on our own. We cannot avoid getting hurt or feeling solitude. That is why we have each other. We have people who can help us, whom we can learn from, whom we can believe in. Due to the diversity of the human race, though, we must be vigilant in selecting who to trust. We must learn to decipher the true from the false, and by that token, we must decipher the sincere from the wicked.

In the end, whatever outcome may arise in our wars, there comes a point when we feel regret. But this is what I believe about regret. Regret cannot change the past, but it is actually a stream that flows along with self-discovery. With regret, we learn to veer away from what has harmed us before. With regret, we learn what and what not to do… and that is the whole point of learning now, isn’t it? We all make mistakes, and that is our nature… it is not something we should be ashamed of; it is something that, with a good perception, can be a weapon in prevention and redirection.

I commend Paulo Coelho by always making it a point to stress that we should be who we are and that we must stand up for what we believe. Thank you for showing that there’s more to life than the scathing of a single blow. Thank you for touching the life of a fourteen year old like me. Thank you and thank you again.:)

Happy Birthday Leaf!
Lots of love!:-)
It’s so nice to know that there are many people who think, who feel, that this world could be a better place, if WE – ALL – really try to show what’s best in us.

I know that everybody is good inside, but not everybody behave accordingly.
Sometimes I wonder, why?

Why is it so hard to give?
Why is it so hard to love?

It makes you free!!! – as Paulo wrote.
So, why?

For me – to give is to take.

We should never be afraid!
Love attracts love!

I hope that, the more of us share this feeling the sooner there will be love everywhere.
Dreamer?
We should all be dreamers! -
shouldn’t we?

love
Agnieszka

P.S. Happy Birthday – Danusia

What kind of a question is that?? !!(smile)
We face TEMPORARY situations which may indicate the opposite but Faith and Hope is all about the Fact that LOVE PREVAILS.

All good authors write happy endings.

God is a God of Love and surprises… if we give in to negativity we accumulate such…if we open ourselves to our own beliefs about ourselves, that we are worthy of love and capable of giving it, at the same time as accepting others differences and faults as our own, and be determined to give out positive energy of pure love and inner peace, then we will sing in harmony with the Universe and thank Heaven for all the struggles we went through to prove our strength and value in Life.

Today is my birthday – I am 38. God gave me the best gift of my life which is indescribable new vision and it started here with you all, whom I would like to thank from deep in my heart…..the truth I was given as a motto was this;
I am not afraid, I am not angry.
and I can act/react accordingly in every situation hence.

I would like to offer words of loving encouragement to you my friends
there is nothing we warriors cannot do, when love is our motive
Perseverance, persistence – Patience above all calamity, is worth more than gold, and instinct is our fail-safe linked with our faithfulness to the path, and leads to Peace.
Find your god, see him/her in the face of all you meet, love them as you wish to be loved
be yourself
dream
and wake up glad to be alive

Thank you, Paulo
xxxx

Dearest Paulo,

You will always surprise me and it even isn’t enough world to say it.
How???
Where did You have “found” this?
I cannot believe that You wrote this last sentence:

“From the moment that you don’t fear to share your heart, you are a free person.”

- it is the essence of our being –
it is the essence of everything,
and
it is the essence of …my heart,
because
I was never, ever afraid of doing so, even after being hurt over and over again.
And I always felt that it was,
that it is,
the only way.
As You wrote –
- it makes you – free!

thank You from the bottom of my heart!

love
Agnieszka
