People make a lot of resolutions every beginning of the year. How many of your resolutions for 2007 have you fulfilled?
Love,
Paulo

I personally never make any at that particular time of year. I always try to go against the grain and fulfill promises to myself as I prefer. I write it out and post in somewhere in my face to keep myself focussed. And internally I believe they will come to be…and they will, and they do.
Jade
Hi welcome back all.
I gave up making resolutions as a teenager when I realized that I, like most other people, were not achieving these little, mostly half-hearted jestures at improving our ways/lives.
I have more resolve, these days, every day of the year, to change what I will, and I am satisfied with that.
Health and Happiness to everyone x
The only resolution I make is to do better than I did the year before. Better meaning spiritually, for myself and others. I think I’ve accomplished that, I hope. Ultimately, it’s not for me to judge. I only try to go where my heart points to.
I don’t make any New Year-resolutions… there are many to make during the whole year anyway! *grin*
All of them! But then there only is ever that one that i think we all subconsciously have. That being, to have my best year.
Each new year is my best year as I use the little bit of wisdom i gain from the previous year to provide insight into how i can live a more joyful life the next year.
New years is great in that it provides me with a checkpoint to reassess the past years experiences and with a timeframe (2008) in which to implement change..
I make twelve resolutions. There is a Peruvian tradition of eating 12 grapes at midnight to represent the 12 months of the new year. My wife and I use the grapes to represent our resolutions.
Last year, all my resolutions went strong for about 2 months, whereas my wife sustained or accomplished 11 of her 12 over the course of the year.
This year we’ve each framed our resolutions and have calendars to keep track of our progress. I’ll re-evaluate my resolutions every three months, and then recommit, if they still make sense.
This year, my resolutions are all actions which I occasionally do, and always enjoy. I’ve resolved to do these more frequently, by setting a minimum time for each action, which is to be performed either daily, weekly or monthly.
By making this time and space to do what I love, I know I’ll have much more love to share.
None. That’s why I did not make any for this year. I’m just going to take it one day at a time, I guess. Less pressure.
Agree with Jade.
Promises and oaths are a beautiful and very effective way of making changes happen.
But when broken, they recoil. And are more difficult to make the next time.
I shall only make promises that I know I shall keep.
I shall only make promises with my heart.
I can’t exactly remember, but year 2007 was for YEAR of Big changes, lost my “love” after 6 years, new job, again tried to start studying on University, so little hard the rest of year for me.
Hope this year will be better, but not only for but for all good ppl.
I do not usually make resolutions. This year however I am going to try and become a good writer:-)Wish me luck!! (I think I am gonna need a lot of that :-)))
I have never made resolutions at this special date. Everybody thinks one should do so and this is the right time, but this is exactly the point that make it halfhearted! The resolution does not come from your heart, when the time is not yet ripe.
You have to be prepared for changes in your consciousness and awareness. It is an inner (and sometimes longlasting) process to realize the point to change things in your life. It does not work from one day to the other because there is a new year. But you can decide you will work on it!
There is another aspect not to connect resolutions with this special date: you make a halfhearted resolution and in the end of January you see it does not work - you give up and have the perfect excuse to put it aside for another year.
Every day, every moment is right to changed things in your life, if you are prepared and you really want it by heart!
Best wishes for the New Year for everyone
Monika
Happy New Year everyone! May 2008 be a great one for all of us, for the whole world! :-)
I agree with Chehaw, I also have the resolution of being a better person, with the attention put on the Spirit every year.
And in 2007 I managed to do that more than before, I believe. I managed to see the good points in everything more than the negative aspects, help myself and others in overcoming our weaknesses.
I managed not to feel very guilty for not doing more, instead I took more action when I felt it was the right time.
I understood more than before that feeling joyful, relaxed and loving can solve so many conflicts and all sorts of problems; being understanding with others, your compassion is flowing to your heart too.
All in all, 2007 was a good year. I really hope that 2008 will be wonderful, leading us more and more towards the Light!
I believe in the Power of Good and Love with all my heart! I wish my mind could always follow my heart…
Lots of hugs and much affection,
Carmen Larisa
I always say what I am going to do each year ,its like setting some goals for the year,I announce it to the universe .I will do this , or that this year, hey but i am flexible .I think it gives you a bit of focus for the year,I fullfilled most of mine last year. But i always burn the old sheet of paper and make a new list for 2008. This years a big list !!
As long as there are no regrets, I will be happy..Blessings Tania
Hi all!
Well I never did use to make resolutions… usually they were just lists, and I never remember them so I can’t check back. But this year, I did something slightly different, which I’m happy about :) You can try if you like.
I made resolutions in 5 categories: spiritual, physical, social, professional and emotional. In each I put my goals first, and then practices. At the end of it, that one piece of paper really gave me tons of clarity for the new year, and also focus, which are great. Yup! Just thought to share that.
Hii Everyone !!
wish you all a very happy new year !!
I never made any resolutions before ..but this year i have made one.
I want to be more patient with my 6 yr old daughter and want to be a good mom for her . I lose my temper very easily these days and my little child becomes the softest target … so no more temper explosions at my child..that is what i want to do..
Hope i succeed …
do pray for me dear friends..
Lots of hugs

Happy New Year!
For me there’s only one resolution - love.
The more you love the better your life will be.
Love is the way!
I wished everybody I knew lots of love.
Love is the essence of our existence.
Love always wins!
I wish you LOVE
I wish you smile,
What do you wish?
Light in the sky?
lots of love to everybody

I made one New Years resolution for 2007 and that was to go to Spain and walk the Camino de Santiago! Well, I didn’t get to walk all of it only 6hrs of it that is because I was able to go to your birthday party in honor of St. Joseph. So my new years resolution was fulfilled by following my dreams and I guess the Universe did hear my heart and made things work out for the best.
I still plan on Walking all of The Camino knowing now anything and everything is possible.
:D
2007 was not a good year for me, i went through many personal conflicts, and my life changed too drastically. i stoped being myself, instead i was this person too selfish to care about anybody else. i lost my dreams, and the innocense in which i saw life. but i don’t regret it. it helped me to opened my eyes on time to save myself.and to start a transision from girlhood to womanhood. now i’m ready to start living my life im ready to confront any adversity because i’ve become stronger. i didn’t fullfil any of the resolutions that i had for 2007, but i’ve started to fulfill the most important one for 2008 which is too be happy! i left all the self induced suffering and self punishment in the past, and all the things and people that were not making me happy. today i feel so light and in peace with myself that i’m ready to start fullfilling my second resolution wich is to write a novel.
i whish everyone the best for this year !!
ps. dear paulo i think this blog looked better with the white background
I have set out two particular goals for myself for the year that has passed - both are still in process. But this year particularly has taught me that life, when lived in the present, does not follow a straight and narrow one sets out for oneself. I have had a tumultuous year. The most important being the unveiling of my destiny - my personal legend or purpose and I say unveiling for it was right under my nose and life’s distractions has steered me away from it. The other equally or more important happening the past year was the discovery of my soulmate - which as Paulo says - could prove both heaven and hell.
I started being able to distinguish what’s real and what’s fake and then believe in and trust the real thing.
Eve,
Please say a word that you’re OK!

Happy New Year everyone!
The year 2006 was very spiritual for me, and so I decided that my resolutions for 2007 would follow this.
2007 has been a year of so much human injustice from guantanamo bay, to Darfur and Afganistan. My resolution for 2007 was to find a way to remeber that we are all connected, that whilst their is injustice happening to some of our fellow humans, it is impossible to ever fully be at peace.
Everytime I see the moon I remember that. The moon I am seeing in London, where I have the luxuries of freedom and survival, is the same moon that a prisoner of guantanamo bay sees, and the same moon that a crying child in Darfur sees.
and my resolution for this year…. to do something about it!

I pray and wish success to your wish.
I have 8yr old and one way you may find helpful is at the same time teach your daughter if she needs, to put across her own differences without her own temper too. This may help both.
May God bless you both with a real manifestation of your loving bond, and strengthen you with patience beyond dreams…x
WOW. Like the new look, easier on the eyes I think.
I always make resolutions. I love the beginning of a new year, it refreshens everything. I usually keep most of my resolutions, about 70%, which is not bad I think. This year my resolutions aren’t so much about actions but about trying to make changes to myself and the way I see myself and the world around me. This will be a harder resolution to fulfill but I believe I’ll at least achieve something.
Happy New Year Everyone!!
Kathleen xx
Dear Leaf

We could just be silly for a while and hope for an in between gray, or a change of colour every week, or a mood/colour chart where we can choose our own…endless artistic opportunities hehe
God’s Blessings to all

Dear Paulo,
THANK YOU for the LIGHT!

Carpe diem quam minimum credula postero,
It’s nice to hear about all these resolutions in the beginning of the year…what about a daily resolution?

I made a few Goals (or resolution, as you called it) for year 2007. I did not meet all those goals, in fact, I think I failed. But despite of those failures, I still believe I live a happy life. And that’s what’s important. And so, I recycled those goals for Year 2008 with few additional “silent” ones and stronger commitment to fulfill those goals. For me, it is better to have goals to have something that you look forward… :)
Dear Paulo,
did you made any resolutions? Fulfilled them? Willing to fulfill them?
http://nunofirminodiario.wordpress.com/2008/01/03/voltando-ao-combate/
none…!!!!
i don’t even remember what they were…!!!
and yeah…
happy new year, everyone…!!!
I’m writing this blog in 2008, because in this time of year you could know what resolutions you have fulfilled and how many you haven’t. I think I only fulfilled half, because I think I wrote down the resolutions that I can’t even promise. This year I chose the resolutions that I could actually promise.
Love,
Laffy
To be quite honest, I don’t remember the resolutions I made in 2007. I have a vague idea that I did not make any because in previous years I never stuck to them, so I figured the whole thing pointless. But maybe it was the resolutions I made that were pointless in relation to my personal growth. They were always something like, “This year, I will exercise more” or “This year, I will stop drinking coffee.” They were insubstantial and quickly forgotten.
And you know how hard it can be to stay away from the coffee.
But I do believe making a resolution is important. A resolution can give a person focus and drive. But to stick with them, it should be something you are really passionate about and will allow you to grow. A challenge.
I made a resolution this year, and I’m sure I’m going to stick with this one. I made sure of that, because I am aware that I have shortcomings, and this time I am thinking ahead =)
I forgot my 2007 resolutions. But I guess I fulfilled some.
The problem with me is: I never remember my resulutions for the past year.
For 2008 my goal is not to postpone the things i have to do. For the things I have that to do at my work as the things I have to do at home (simple things, like calling someone or going to the dentist…)
Now my 2008 resulutions are on the internet, so in January 2009 I can find them and see what becomes of it.
Best wishes for 2008 to all of you!
Walter (The Netherlands)
I have not fulfilled any of them, and I don^t think I will ever.. but this is not why I’m commenting. I just can’t believe how down-to-earth you are. you’re my (and obviously maaaany many others’) favorite author, and you’re blogging:) It is a very nice act, you are as great as your books.
The more books you write, the more your readers enjoy their lives :)

Last year, I started making a vision board of what I would like to accomplish in 2007. I had words and images at my disposal and I glued them by theme to my board. I looked at it quite a bit (when I was home and not traveling around the globe for my job). I was happy to see that at the end of 2007, I had accomplished 90%. My 2008 vision board just went up and by writing in my blog, I am trying to figure out how to achieve my dreams.
Hello Everyone, Happy New Year!! :) well am inspired by people who actually work on their resolutions..
As far as i remember, i have been taking resolutions each year since the day i was 15 yrs old..but i soon used to go back to my old ways..the funniest thing is i still take and break them too!! i do make changes in my life when it is needed..certain things for me never changes!! one needs a lot of determination for that which i think i lack..
Dearest Paulo and friends,
I wish you all of the best for 2008, and hope that this is a year of happiness and prosperity for you all. Its wonderful to back! I must i admit, i had my moments of withdrawal from this site, these holidays!
As a personal opinion, i can how new years can be used as to new beginning, and it can get people focused on their aims in life, however, i feel i’m more like monika in that sense. I’ve never taken new years resolutions very seriously, i suppose its because when it comes to a goal, i let my heart decide, and once its perfected its place in my heart, at any point in the year, i find a way to strive for it. I know that i will achieve my ultimate dreams when the time is right. I pray however, that this year be a good one. I surely hope that it better than the last, and that God takes good care of all my friends and family.. Including all of you here, and Paulo of course! (can’t leave him out.. Lol. :) )
Thank you for being
Yajna
I made the resolution to focus on finances…flowing inward. As the year went on, I came to a realization: I would focus on my dream coming true and the finances would be attached to that. Guess what? It’s happened. I always dreamed of writing a book, but was waiting for the right story. I knew that I would know the story when it came along, and I did. Now, I am self-publishing the book and am confident that this story will help so many people that I know without a doubt that the finances attached to my dream will flow.
I’ll be having a book launch at Chapters book store in Mississauga (near Toronto), the first week of February…my birthday week. Everything I’m visioning is coming to pass and I am filled with gratitude for the perfection I feel when this happens.
Happy New Year to you all. Happy New Year, Paulo. Feliz Ano Novo. May all your dreams come true in 2008! Just believe, feel the fear, but do it anyway.

Caro Paolo,
Hi Paulo
A very happy new year to you.
New year resolutions did not mean much to me much during earlier years than what it means to me now.
My resolution is that I want to become what I know I have to. I want to become an author, a poet and a speaker to satisfy my urge to make a difference to this world by making a difference in the way people think.
For me, its all about making people aware of the different perspectives one could have to keep himself alive, or for that matter ‘die alive’. One does not find purpose of his life so easily. So what does he do? I want to contribute my thoughts on this topic. I have further posted my blog at http://www.simply-sidd.blogspot.com/ (if at all you can be gracious enough to read that, please do)
Also Paulo, I share the same birthday as yours, i.e., 24th of August. So you see where I am coming from(haha).
At the moment I am working in a Company as a sales guy for which I know I am not made for. So my resolution for this new year would be to implement my true call which I have realized by now, that I am all up for making a difference in the way people think, by being an author, a poet by wanting to be a visionary. For me after all, its all about perspectives (and not only objectives) that one has that determines his course in life. So I have to launch a my own special book Paulo, and I do see it coming.
Thanks Paulo for reading this. Does mean a lot to me.
Bye
Take Care.
Siddharth (India)
I started the year breaking a tradition, in Spain we use to eat 12 grapes at 12 o’clock, grapes to give you luck they say… I think that “luck” is in every moment, you only have to learn to live it. This was my wish, to be able to enjoy my moments. So long I have felt lucky, I think that I’m fulfilling my wish/promise.

Hi Dearest hildegarde,
What a great idea to make a daily resolution!
In 2006, I made the resolution to be happy, and I have been through the worst years of my life with suffering and doubts. It was a resolution for a lifetime not just for one year. Now thanks to U I understand that I should be more reasonable.
And suffering allowed me to enjoy love when it comes to town.
So my daily resolution is to open my arms to the one I love so much, she looks so strong that makes me want to protect her.
She just had to follow the saints Etienne and prisca and meet me where the music is against happiness as my cousin germain is called.
If you wonder where or when it’s at ask your Good friends.
Just come cause I want to hug you and kiss U again and again and again…
Love all along the way
yours
Damien
PS: could you please translate me your latin locution cause I know the beginning but not the end.
I found one on the dictionnary which follows it :
Castigat ridendo mores
Hi! very amused by the website .
