I think I always was a believer, and hopefully I will be but the longer I live the more difficult it becomes.
I don’t mean believing in God, that is easy.
I mean - believing in people.
I always did, but now I doubt sometimes.
Even if you really, really try, even if you try to love them all, no matter if they hurt you or not, and act accordingly, still sometimes they treat you, talk to you, like you’re one strange creature, who dream too much.
I am really lost sometimes. Giving love, giving what is good in myself doesn’t necessarily bring love.
They look at you sometimes like you not “normal”, like you are out of this world - in the negative kind of way. Not all, but some.
Maybe they don’t believe that the person who loves to dance, who does crazy things sometimes, who loves to travel etc. can also - believe and love everything around her.
How can you convince someone that God exists?
How can you convince someone that people may change to be better?
Even if you try to be an example, sometimes it still doesn’t work.
I don’t know, maybe we’re supposed to doubt, we’re supposed to cry sometimes, supposed to be disappointed and yet still believe,
    still love,
like a real Warrior of the LIGHT.

Maybe that’s why I go on for so long,
    and still believe.

    love

    Agnieszka,

I think we believe in our own convictions and hearts, what everyone else believes shouldn’t affect us that much. Just fly, and fly and live your own life. Love is a journey back to the spirit and to God but we live in a society ruled by the illusion so people will create friction no matter what because they were brought up in this lie. That’s how I see it. Break free!

There’s a song in Spanish which says Vuela alto vuela alto, la gente tira a matar… it’s just lack of evolution.

There is no other choice than to believe after you have made up your mind and are going to act.

@agnieszka: I think there are people who can eat up every love and energy they come across without giving anything back. So how do you protect your love from burning out?

belief is something that drives each and every one of us to something that we want, and yet it is not certain, but, if we truly believe then we shall get to were the manifestation of belief had come from.

  11. 11 Alex

Believing is not a big deal. It depends very much on WHAT you believe. I am very peaceful person and accept all people’s opinions even though it happens to disagree with them. I do respect people but I love God more. I am a christian and frankly I do not believe that Paolo Coehlo’s books got something to do with Christianity whatsoever. Christians’ belief is very ridiculized in his writings (has nothing to do with Christianity belief) and sincerly it feels very painful for us, christians. I cryed a lot when ridings those books, until I chose to stop ’cause is no use torturing myself so much. At least do not mention anymore christian’s sacred figures if you do not believe in them the way they are. Mocking somebody’s belief could tear apart somebody’s heart. You should now that Mr Coehlo

    Dear Sun & Rainer

Thank You both for Your kind, wise words, they help a lot.
    I really appreciate them.:-)
They reminds me that true love prevails.
Sometimes I cannot believe that these moments really happen, you’re vulnerable, and you feel (as you, Rainer said) burned out.
Luckily they’re just moments and they go away.

I know one thing though, Rainer, the love will never be exhausted,or burned out, because the source is God, not people.
That’s the only thing that keeps me going.

    lots of love
    and thank You again,

    Alex,
i’m sorry that you feel the way you do about Paulo and his books. I don’t see how he is offensive to religion, if not anything his helped me very much so to become more in touch with God, and to love more. Isn’t that the main aim of any religion? May i asked what troubles you so about his books? Is there a specific part that maybe we can discuss?

    Sun, Rainer and Agnieszka,
Love can never be burnt out, we ourselves may feel down, loveless, fearful and doubtful when bad things happen to us, but after a while, we stand up again. We begin to love again, and start to believe. I think that we can never protect ourselves in this case, because to truely love we take the risk of exposin ourselves to the greatest happiness and even the greatest sadness in our lives. If we don’t take this risk, then we are not loving fully, and loving on condition.. And we all know, in love, there is no conditions.. My friends, i think that we should never stop believing, because believing is our greatest weapon in life.. :)

    Tania,
i was also thinking of that song! I’m a believer! Without a trace of doubt in my mind! I’m in love..yeah i’m a believer.. :)

    lastly i just wanna say..
“a warrior of light is a believer..”
    -Dam right i am! *grin*

    Lots of love..

    Hi ! Friends !

yes a wol is a man of faith, u know diffrence between belief and faith, u believe something when there is some ‘proof’ in that direction whereas faith is despite any ‘proof’.

I used to love viusiting this site often, the server thru which I access the net has some new moral poice software installed and most of the time it returns a message saying this site exceeds limit for some questionable words, and prohibits the site; stupid & funny.

The Warrior of Light is a believer… of what?Everybody is a believer. Is he a believer of oneself? of God? or of a certain truth?

Yajna, you are right! The Love is the risk. And I’m not shure, that I can put all my life to this point.

  23. 23 Katarina

If I could choose only one word I would like to be remembered by, it would have to be: believer, for that is a single word that contains love and hope and world and eternity and certainty that only another optimist would understand.

Also, it’s a word that those who don’t understand its meaning use to outcast those who do. But it is always the believers who move the world and touch the hearts of others and are genuinely sad for people who need to touch and see something in order to freely believe that it is actually there. They wouldn’t feel the full meaning of a stranger saying: Good Morning with a smile. It wouldn’t put a smile on their face and it wouldn’t mean a great deal. Until a day that sees their beliefs bloom.

Believers are those who hold the world and look at themselves to fix it.

As an Orthodox Christian I know that belief is a living, breathing part of us. Being a Christian doesn’t mean merely tolerating and accepting others, but truly loving them. We can only question ourselves on any value we believe in.

  24. 24 A.V.C.

I believe in the things that I know to be true.
Except for that, I also have some hopes.

    Alex,

    agnieszka,

those who r u’r freinds / well wishers won’t make fun of you. but your ‘love’ is not limited for your friends alone, it’s for those also who ‘crucify’ you. Once we start on the journey of love, it’s all the way. moments of doubt, frsutration are because we are humans. I feel one should not bother too much for negative reactions, take note of it, if there is any validity, fine, a little further course correction may be called for, otherwise ignore and press on. as rainer asks, how does one prevent one’s love from drying out, well one will have to attain to the fountain of love, u’r self. till then one needs to wade thru periods of frustration, doubt.

    Dear Alex

    I agree with Yajna.
These books helped me to be closer to God, to feel love more.
I also am curious what brings you to this conclusion.

    Dear Yajna

I know that love can’t never be burned out, because (as I wrote before) - the source is God.

Though I said I would never come back to this site… here I am again… Yajna – You asked “Isn’t that the main aim of any religion?” No, is not, that’s the problem. “God” is not the same for ALL religions. It is obvious. That’s exactly I’m talking about. You said it helped you – well, just be careful not to be taken from you with one hand what you’ve received with the other. (or sth like “You’ll realize one day that you’ve lost a diamond while you were to busy collecting stones”) How can you feel that Coehlo is so greatly responsible for turning you back to faith/ God? If it happened, it happened because you already were a faithful person inside your heart but might have been a suppressed feeling. Coehlo only touched your sensitive side with sweet words. I could do that easily as well. But I guess that the lack of some artistic writing quality is holding me back, right? What I know for sure is that these days I see so often this kind of “abuse of the sensitive side of humans”. If a person has a sensitive and spiritual side in his/her character and searching for more (meaning) in life, then he or she will easily be caught up by sweet philosophical words well put together by an artist. And no matter what he will slip in in that book or speech, you will take it for granted, ‘cause you already felt in love with the narration. I know what I’m talking about – been there, done that. I’m not saying that he did it on purpose, but he simply did it. Because what he’s writing there are HIS beliefs! Not yours. Not muslims’, not christians’, not anyone’s. You can read his books, you can respect him, but not taking in it fully. I already know that you will not agree with me. And no one here will do that. And how could you? You are all in love with everything Coehlo; you have the illusion that somehow he gave back to you something precious. But let me tell you something: you already got that “precious” thing, but now is only a bit filthy. By HIS belief. He could as well make himself a religious group, ‘cause he would have a lot of adepts who will follow HIM and HIS personalized belief. And you wouldn’t even realize it. Actually that exactly how a religious group works… / And I wouldn’t care that much, really… But it hearts me deeply that he uses my religion to do that. Saying that Saint Maria was not exactly a virgin and that God is kind of a woman + a bit of a man or other crap, and then quote the Bible – it’s just SO OFFENIVE!!! It’s like telling to a muslim that Mohamad was gay! Well, try to say that to a muslim. I’m sure that he would have been cut in pieces and fed to the dogs. Oh, but no Christians… Christians are peaceful, they are harmless. As far that it goes for me and all my friends and the Christians I know or not – I WILL NOT accept this kind of offense. You can offend me (whatever) but not my God.
His belief is strongly related with Castaneda and other things alike (a la New Age stuff) which Christianity STRONGLY disapprove and consider as to be very dangerous for the human’s soul; but on the other hand, he dares to mention quotation from Christian Bible and uses Santa Maria’s name on the first page of his each book. This is not fair whatsoever. Bible belongs to Christianity as Koran belongs to Islam. If he would have quote the Koran, … let’s just say that Muslims would have been very angry. / I’ve noticed his affinity of presenting things through a feminine perspective. That is because women are more sensitive and romantic and are being caught up in this easily. Then, of course most of women are his fans. / I’ve been through a lot in my life. I’ve just lost a friend. That’s because of a similar “peaceful” religious philosophical group, searching the “meaning in life” crap. I myself almost die several times because of the same similar things (“peaceful knowing-all” kind of people). I know that life will still be tough for me as it goes. At least I will stand up for my belief no matter what. / I have friends who went to Athos. Somebody from there saved my life. An ORTHODOX-CHRISTIAN. I also saved my life just desperately calling Saint Maria’s name and Jesus Christ’s name. So, if these would be untruth or unreal, I would have been already dead by now. But thus it proved to me the authenticity of Christianity. And there were many other proves. And if somebody bothers to sincerely study it, will find out WHY the other spiritual doctrines and philosophical thoughts are so deadly wrong. / And also tell me where do you find that magical rituals, a great woman goddess, meditation with non-sense speaking words, passionate sex, unseen energies, humans “masters”, “Templar Order” and others alike, are well seen by the Bible and Christianity. ? / (Btw, I guess you don’t really know how the initiation ritual of the Templar Order REALLY takes place either. It is not how they say)
Unfortunately I had the chance to steal a look at “the other side” and ‘ve seen Christianity there. And I am very sure that we all gonna see this one day. Even those who today are mocking it. / Go to sacred Christian places like those from Russia, Greece and Romania, and you’ll find miracles happening there, to simple, common people. Go to Jerusalem to see the holy light descending to the orthodox-christians on Easter night.
My grand grandmother was a witch. My grand grandfather was a genuine Christian. I’ve tried both and many things; and remained with the last one. It fully proved to me it is the right one, and the only one. / It happens to know many things about somebody’s great plan to create a “peaceful” universal religion, and Vivekananda’s vision that oriental philosophy to conquer the world (thus the Occident) and many stuff like that. And actually HAS a LOT to do with Coehlo’s belief too. There are so many things that people don’t know! And it infuriates me that so many naïve and innocent people will let themselves seduced and will follow just because they didn’t bother doing some research first. I respect people and hate it when someone consider us stupid silly easy-to-convince little creatures. “Feed the westerns – they’re hunger for spirituality and life meaning searching! Oh, don’t worry, they already forgot their Christian God!” I seize that as an offense to human’s dignity and intellect and choose not to be a traitor.
Forget the romantic spiritual crap. There’s no joking with the belief ‘cause it’s no more or less than your soul at stake. Try to think on your own. And don’t let anyone interpose between you and God. You can make it through without holding on to some person. ‘Cause when a person interferes there’s no room left for God. That’s because you won’t even realize when you go side-track. / You should also remember “I’m not young enough to know everything”. That is how the children are more closely to God; because they’re not searching for anything. They just live and God steps besides them. Living your life is a miracle itself. You do not need to search for the absolute truth in here – you won’t find it in here. You don’t need to search for swords or adventurous scenarios. God knows what’s best for you and will bring them into your life if He really considers that you need it. / There’s much to say… Although I already got used to people not wanting to listen. It is fairly said that “The gates of Hell are closed on the inside.”

You wrote - “God knows what’s best for you and will bring them into your life…”

Believing is as important as living
If I didn’t believe in people, god or what I do
Will If I didn’t believe I never got heart, I never loved, I never achieved or learned
If we don’t believe we don’t live

  32. 32 A.V.C.

I think this illustrates how easily religious beliefs turn into intolerance.

Question your beliefs folks; feel free to doubt at times. Christians, Coelhos, A.V.C.s, yourselves!

    It is healthy!

It will help you gradually build your faith upon knowledge. The kind of faith that moves mountains.

  33. 33 Yza

Honestly, I do not believe in ALL ideas of Mr. Coelho in all his books… not 100%. But, I do respect him. So, I just pick what I think are good and give a benefit of the doubt to others that does not conform with my faith. BTW, I am also a Catholic… a charismatic… a renewed one. With this, I can say that even faith and belief are evolving/progressing. There are things that we do not believe before like salvation is only for us but now we believe that it is for everybody (even for others with other religion, etc.) Anyway, who are we to really know? Let us just be content that faith will take us there.

    Cheers! :)

  35. 35 Yajna

    Dear Alex

Firstly you said, ““God” is not the same for ALL religions.” As much as God may not be the same individual idol for us all, and there are different variations in each religion, his basic principles are maintained throughout all religions, i.e. be good, help you brothers and sisters of the world and most of all love. Love him, love others and love yourself.

Lets just get a few things straight because it seems to me that you’re under this misconception that I somehow Paulo has become somewhat of cult leader to us. I certainly do not look at him that way, nor do I see his writing that way. The reason I love and respect Paulo is not because I found God by memorising his books or fanatically taking everything he says or does to heart- No! I see him as a great man and as a help to me spiritually because in his books he writes things that I myself have found to be true. In doing so I feel somewhat more comforted that someone else in this world sees things similarly the way I do, and inevitably I am able to feel more confident in what ‘I’ believe is true- Not what he believes, there are of course things that I disagree. I don’t write here everyday, endlessly waiting for Paulo to say something to me, No! I write here because I can express how I feel on certain issues, and in doing so I am able to express myself more. I am an individual who reads about different religions, different philosophies and I decide for myself how I connect with God. Every person in this world is different, and although you may have found God through Christianity, doesn’t mean that I will or I won’t. At the end of the day, if you are following, Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, or anything else, if you have a good relationship with God, if you find your ultimate love to him via any religion, then that’s all that matters. As for us all being hopelessly in love and blinded by Paulo, truthfully I don’t deny that I love him and his work, but really, I’m not so in love that I just take everything he says and idolise it hopelessly unable to think for myself! No! I look at what he writes, and if I find it makes sense to me, and I continue to believe it if I sincerely agree with it. He may have sweet words, and he may be a brilliant artist, but all words have meanings, and I’m not following fancy words, but rather the meanings behind the words. If you feel so strongly, why don’t you write a book- if you think it’s so easy to do?
I can understand how some of the things he writes may offend you indirectly in terms of Christianity because of the way ‘you’ believe in it and about Saint Maria, but that entire issue has been very controversial for decades now, and became far worse especially when the ‘Holy Blood and Holy Grail’ was released, also claiming Jesus was a man. So many people believe it- are you going to hate all of them, even though they still love Saint Maria? I also know of many people who see the feminine face of God, and the way I see it is if they are happy, than let them be. I personally prefer him as a Father figure, just because I am more comfortable with it. Just like you now are here expressing what you believe in, so is Paulo in his own way, only he is not intolerant of your beliefs. In all fairness you are blatantly disrespecting him and other people’s beliefs in the manner in which you wrote.
Although the bible might belong to Christians and the Koran to the Muslims, it doesn’t mean that only a Muslim must real the Koran and No one else, or only a Christian should read the bible. I’m a Hindu, and I go to church when I feel the need, I read about Buddha, I do whatever I feel necessary to help me understand my own truths, and follow my own beliefs. Just because I am a woman, does not mean I am naïve. I certainly can make up my own mind and I’m not being sweet-talked or romanced by Paulo and his work! Really! I’m not so easily swindled just because I am woman! Women have their own minds and we are certainly not inferior to men so much so we believe everything someone tells us! We’re not dumb-founded, helplessly in love with Paulo that whatever he says is suddenly our truth!
My question to you is, why do you need one religion in order to find God? Why one path that has to be strictly followed? What would you say about Baha followers then? It’s very clear you feel this way. Why can I not love Jesus Christ as much as I love Lord Krishna? Why does one have to be staunchly Christian in order to love Jesus Christ? So what if he believes in magical rituals or meditation (with nonsense speaking words?! As you put it!)- If he still loves Jesus Christ or Saint Maris with all his heart. What’s the problem? I’m sorry that you’ve lost a friend, and it seems you’ve been through a lot to get to where you are now in terms of you finding God, but you must not forget not everyone is like you. No one has the same experiences as you ad not everyone believes in the same Truth as you. You should try be more tolerant of others people beliefs and respect them without trying to indoctrinate them with your religion, because really, I found you to be directly offensive. Just so you know, not all Muslims will cut you up into pieces and not all Christians are gentle! Not all Muslims are as violent as you think they are, and although some of them are religious extremists, it does not mean all of them are. It seems to me that you, yourself are a religious extremist! You may not kill, but like them you believe you are fighting for your religion, for ‘your’ God. Lastly, No one is interposing between me and God, last time I checked I loved him more that ever, and no one, whether is Paulo or You or anyone in this world can say or do anything that will come between us.

    Love Yajna

    Dear Alex

    Let me tell you something.
I am a Christian, more, I am a Catholic and I would say that, what you “preach” - can cause only one thing - hatred.
Just please, don’t tell me that I don’t believe ENOUGH or something like that.
    I DO believe very much,
but I believe most in: Love, Peace, Understanding, Tolerance.
I pray to God that you, too.
I hope that this kind of attitude will pass and love prevails.
Because I also believe in one more thing that:
    Every man is good inside.

    Alex
I’m sorry you lost your friend
It’s a shame you have had a bad time
    BUT
you don’t wanna come in here fighting from a position of such immense hurt, because we all hurt at some point and we all get over it - not by lashing out and making assumptions.
I am Christian but in no way Orthodox
Because I do not see That as helping towards world peace, but just, as you I’m afraid have shown, perpetuating strife amongst anyone.
    SO
believing in the Individualism that Paulo teaches
I am prepared to be one of the two, quoted in Revelation, who is killed in the street and gets left for three days before ressurection because my God is that big
    are you? Is yours?
or are you still looking for the ’surrounding enemies’ closing in on the Faithful few?

    There’s another option, you know
we do not have to wait for the destruction of the world
we can please God by living in peace
and we can also leave it to Him
to tell people who offend Him or not

i’d rather explain to my God on my judgement day why I was too accepting and loving to too many people
    than too few

and Paulo didn’t teach me that
I made it up all by myself
    Love
    xxxx
PS I hope you will like to come back regularly
we can all help heal each others wounds
you sound like a good fighter
but we’re your friends not your enemies
-and next time you come in here treating us like enemies of Christ I’ll be really sarcastic and quote Him to you!!

  38. 38 Yajna

    Go Leaf! :)
Serious though Alex.. I hope you read this, we’d all much rather be friends and learn from each other- even in arguement. I hope that you no longer see us a brain washed by Paulo but rather as people who explore their faith, and make up their own minds as to what to believe in. Take care. Love Yaj
