Excuse my English, I speak Spanish.
I couldn’t agree more that we need to forget what we think we are, for we came to that opinion by listening to and believing what others said and not what our inherent wisdom and knowingness informed us that we are. However, I could not disagree more that it is so that we can become what we are. Surely it is obvious that we already are what we are and there is no ‘becoming’ involved at all. Perhaps, all we need to do is recognise and accept what we are - and then not get in the way of that being - just let it be so.
I remember wishing my friend on the New Year’s Eve -” be yourself, not somebody who you would like to be, because this real you is the one who is good“.
I really believe that every one of us is good, inside, we just don’t look for it, where we should be looking.
If we were, we would always find this Light, this Love, see what is wrong, what is awkward about us, that we not who we really are.
And we’re not:
artificial mannequins which pretend to be the celebrities or some kind of guru’s, etc..
We are simple….human beings, with heart and soul, with dreams and fears, who love and hate, sometimes, but who are always, always nothing more and nothing less but themselves.
Seeing that will help us find ourselves.
This light would show us the way…,
where we come from,
it would show us the way to… God,
for He/She is the Light of the world.
Dear Paul, Pablo, Paulo: So you having a party and inviting all your friends?
I been thinking that, some how, you already has made a party with your books
and inviting all of us to it. Into it. I just want to thank you for make us part
of this fantastic journey thru your work and world. I confess that was my fifhteen
years all son that one day ask me: “Had you read Paolo Coelho’s book, The Alquemist.”
I replay -no without shame, considere myself an avid reader- that I didn’t. After that,
of course, I read it and enter with excitement and thrill your fascinated world of tales and histories,
but not only with that one, but with several others and I hope you can allow all of your
readers and friends with the gift of many more books from your hand and soul. That its my private party already, and I cheers to be part of it, and be blessing with it.
Thank you my friend and God bless you always.

I am new fan of yours, old enough to have been aware of your works but ignorant enough to have been introduced to your writing by my 13 year old nephew. I am glad he did and now I treasure his companionship more.
I finished reading “The Zahir”, in my usual style; read fast so you don’t interpret too much, let the writer make an impression on you. I enjoyed the experience while and after reading the book. It almost was as impacting as Daniel Quinn’s “Ishmael” but not as much. I decided to read more of you so went and bought the “Alchemist” and I am liking it too.
In my view, we all exist in concentric circles, in our lives, thoughts and experiences. Each time we graduate from an inner circle to an outer circle, we get a different understanding of life. I always look for those writers who step out of the innermost of the circles towards the outermost. And I am happy to have found one more.
My daughter is awake now and will need attention. So I will stop here.
I organized a retreat for teens a few months ago. I wrote letters to each of the participants. In my letters, I wrote the 10 things I thought I knew for sure about life. Since then, the universe has conspired to show me that I know absolutely nothing for sure. I have been brought to question every aspect, relationship and value I held. The uncertainty and upheaval left me feeling overwhelmed at times, but I recognize now that I am just beginning to know who I am… and that it is enriching to be open, to allow myself not to know.

I agree with you
and this time in Paulo’s defence maybe
I could say
become = potential
to fulfill our potential

Спасибо Вам большое!
we are always learning more and more about ourselves…that is the great thing about being a human being…
but..saying that–we really don’t know what we are—-it’s all about perception…..how we are seen, how we are mirrored in others eyes…we can only try and focus on others-as we progress on our journeys- our “personal legends”.
Who am I?
Living life, every moment, to its highest, furthest point?
Yes, I always act like this, whether it was in the past , present….
I dance to the fullest, never wanting to stop until I reach the point..of no return..,
until I am out of breath.
Can you be extremist of life?
Can you lose yourself, forget yourself, and don’t care what’s gonna happen?
I always wander if I am going to be like this in the future.
I know I am the prisoner of this feeling, feeling of having no boundaries, no limits.
Of feeling everything to the most.
Well, maybe not in everything, that’ll be hurtful for some people around me, but in some ….things, moments.
(?)
It makes me feel…free,
it makes me feel like I am everything and nothing at the same time.
Maybe, that is who I am?
Maybe that is who we all are?
???
Wil we ever know?
who we think we are… i believe i change so fast its impossible to say I’m the same person I was yesterday…
jes I’m doing the same daily routine, but in my heart I try to fallow the love that changes instantly.. the same as nature with seasons, no tree would stand there the same as yesterday:)
but sometimes i need good friends to encourage that I’m on my wright way, but if they have wrong understanding who I am then thats a problem
we need to get free of what others[close persons] think we are
I had a bad habit of believing I was what people perceived me to be and told me - and they were not always positive things. I have come to realise that with one person in particular who I loved as she was my best friend, she constantly put me down because she was jealous of me (I hate saying that because it sounds conceited). The thing is, I believed her in the most part but very deep down there was this really faint little voice trying to call out, no you’re not, no you’re not Kathleen. So now I’m on the road to proving to myself that I’m a good, worthy, capable person and not to always take to heart what people say who I am but to learn for myself who I am.

i believe it was descartes who said.. ‘i think therefore i am.’
I don’t particularly agree with this statement. I believe that in life, we are what we always were, it only a matter of rediscovering ourselves and loving ourselves completely. What better way of learning what and who we are, than to think about it. Think about the experiences we’ve had and the choices we make that reflect, and take stock of who are. Did i really make the right choice? Do i regret not doing this or that? I think we should analyse who we are each day, see if we’re happy with it, and work on it if we not. By doing this, we’re not only improving ourselves, but also begin to love ourselves more and understand ourselves more. I feel we should think about what we are in this moment, and see if we like who we will become if we continue on this path. If not, change. Its that simple.
How can I become the master of my thoughts? How can I control them? How can I put in my mind what is dwelling in my Heart? How can I get rid of the interferences (both, the ones that I am aware of and the ones that I am not so aware of)?
By practising an art, we can forget ourselves. But I assure it’s not that easy, when I have to deal with some peculiar people.
By meeting some persons we are constantly guiding to take Armour off. As to see ourselves naked into that new mirror.
By practising Meditation, it helps in being closer and closer to ourselves, and to nourriture of Creation.
By thinking, we can else take our bearings, about how was the day, as Yajna clearly mention it.
Reminding us about our scheme, and its plan.
Never forgetting the promise we made.
We get all we need to be ourself, the inner essence of ourself. Everything is perfect. Everything’s working well. We get all we need.
Our education must learn how to know to see.
Gratefully Paulo.

Is it possible to describe what anyone is?
I think everyone is beyond description.
Everyone is eternal and endless.
Dear Paolo,
this sentence is truth. No word or image of ourselves could grasp our true meaning.

True. We need to step out of the imposed cultural framework in order to truly grasp our true nature and our true meaning in the universe.
Who Am I? Am I a thought?

but..saying that–we really don’t know what we are—-it’s all about perception…..how we are seen, how we are mirrored in others eyes…we can only try and focus on others-as we progress on our journeys- our “personal legends”.

To find the courage to see with new eyes is to facilitate the rebirth of the senses yearned for from the depths of your soul.
We see that…what we are.
The way we look is the way we believe.
Let’s wash our feet and walk barefooted now in love with the eye of oneness…the centre of every being.
