Today’s Question by Aart Hilal

by Paulo Coelho on February 7, 2008

Your pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, about which you later wrote your first book, Magician´s Diary, was in some sense an initiation – was it really such a fundamental turning point in your life?

It was the moment that I accepted my destiny as a writer, and decided to pay the price. But, above all, it was the moment that I realized that the spiritual quest was much simpler and direct than I thought.

It is only the wisest among us (and the most soulful) who are sage enough to listen to thier Intuition, may you all be so wise.

Dear Paulo,

Many people don’t understand some things you wrote in this book, especially this idea of demon.
Some of them are questioning Your religion, as usually happen when some things are not understood.
I, myself , somehow know, or sense what You are writing about, even though I didn’t experience that.
It is this intuition, this unknown sense of knowing.
Unexplainable.
Also every one of us who’s seeking, has this idea of God, life after death, good and evil, etc…
Without that, we would never be warriors, right?
Everybody goes through his/her own spiritual journey.
I agree with You, it’s much simpler than we could expect.
The truth is always so simple, we just cannot believe it.
The beauty lies in simple things.
Love is simple.

Love
Agnieszka

What has happened to our society that people’s destiny which is simple and direct brings about a price to pay, fear, and possibly label as madness? Why do people around us try to prevent happiness? I’m thinking out loud.

What was the price you had to pay? I’m very interested to know!
