The Alchemist became a world wide phenomenon. What did inspire you to write this novel and did you expect to have such a tremendous success?
When I wrote this novel, I was trying to understand my own journey, and the only way that I had to do it, it was through a metaphor. As for the success, I still have no idea, and I don’t think too much about it. I only enjoy the fact that I am not alone, because the readers identify their journey with the journey in the book, and that means that we share the same challenges.
This is not really a reply, it is a question. I was writing a report about you, Paulo, and while sereaching the internet I could not find any informatin about your childhood. Maybe I did not sereach enough, but I was just wondering if you could tell about it for report purposes and whatnot.
I understood the Alchemist to be a novel that was a “Route of Entry” to the many more you have written through your blessings.
You have found the words to say what we all feel in unity and what separates us becomes distant whenever I read your novels, thank you,
