picked this book up in a funky book shop in Santa Cruz five years ago. Beautiful and deep- like the stories we are so lucky to hear from Paulo- From her book titled De soledad y otras cosas-:
    Luz y sombra
Ayer fue sombra, hoy soy luz,
    fuerza, vigor,
    estrella refulgente
    brotando de la fuente
    de los cielos eternos.
    Hoy soy luz.
    como una hoguera inextinguible
    que alumbra siempre apacible
    el mundo hostil
    que me recibe.
    Hoy soy luz,
y me enfrento tal como soy
    contra la infelicidad
en una lucha disimil que instruye
    como desprenderse de lo banal.
    No soy una luz enganosa,
    no soy confusion
ni doy un calor baladi; soy sustancial,
actuo con destreza y nitida configuracion.
Ayer fui ruinidad, hoy soy bondad,
    amor, ternura.
    Protejo y amparo
    en mi seno, generosamente,
    sin enjuiciar.
    Hoy soy luz, soy luz
    con jubilo, indeleble sobre
    la miseria, las pernurias y
    las necesidades de las almas
    que creian estar desahuiciadas.

    Namaste-
    Mary

  • Leaf, my sentiments exactly – what does romance got to do with poetry?

that’s Powerful, the names you’ve got.
    thank you.

  • Poetry is my soft spot as well. Beyond anything else is Pablo Neruda, whom I could speak of for hours. I have some favourites, one is
“Puedo escribir los versos más tristes esta noche”, and especially the lines
“Porque en noches como ésta la tuve entre mis brazos, mi alma no se contenta con haberla perdido.”

I write poetry myself as well – I feel it is for me the most honest way to express myself. Also to be read in my blog.

  • There’s this poem by W. Broniewski,
    I love so much…

    “I don’t want much,
    but no less than everything,
    You and..green..
and for the leaf of acacia..
    to be windy..
and for the heart to be..
    safe…”

    lots of love

  • There is a poem of William Blake in the songs of experience (opposed to the songs of innocence) that is called the ‘tiger’, opposed to the lamb (in the songs of innocence)

    just a tiny piece :

When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

    Tiger! Tiger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
    What immortal hand or eye
    Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

    Love to all of you

  • Oh..yes,
I love poetry, I wrote some too,
though most of them I’ve read were in my own language.
For me, every poem is the mirror of the soul.

    love

  • What does romantic have to do with poetry?
Paulo only answered one half of the question.
    I believe in romance.
    I am a poet.
    I am a cynic.
    I hate tragedy.
    Poems are pointless.
    So is cynicism.
    I am dead.
    I still Love you.
    xxxx

  • I am, but I don’t have a favorite. That’s “typical” romance if you ask me. I don’t care too much for “typical” romance. I like thoughtful gestures. That’s more romantic than anything!:)
