Today’s Question by Aart Hilal

It seems, that the main motif of your books is the notion of what you call the Personal Legend. What does it mean to you personally? As we know, your life, from the very young years, was complicated, full of blows, disappointments and revelations.

This is what made me strong. We need to fight for our dreams, but we are always tested by God.

    Personal legend….

    sounds so…ancient…so…out of this world,
like it was created before us, before we came to this world; something planned, for every one of us by….God.
    How can one not follow?
It can only bring joy, in everything one does.
But it happens… if you follow your dream, your intuition, if you follow the signs, God is giving you.
When you find out what it is….it’s like opening your heart to the light; brings smile on your face, and peace into your soul.
Every day is special, exciting, one of the kind, because it brings you closer and closer to your dream, and you feel ….life is good.
    Life is… joy.
    Every day becomes…your dream.

    love

Personal legend to me refers to your life’s purpose, you don’t always know what that is; what were you brought into this earth to do?, but when you’re following your purpose, or your personal legend, or passion, or whatever you want to call it, you feel it, your soul feels it. We all want things, we struggle to achieve things, things we think will bring us joy, happiness, success, but there comes a time when you have done all you can and you have only two choices. You can become frustrated, bitter and angry, or surrender yourself to God’s will. By that I don’t mean you give up, but you pause for a minute and you ask God, is this really what I’m supposed to be doing, or do you have a different plan for me? God’s plan is always better than any plan you can conceive for yourself, you just need to open up to God and do as the alchemist does, follow the omens. There are always omens, signs, clues. All you need is prayer and awareness. When you pray the answer doesn’t always comes when you expected, or as you expect it. Sometimes the answer is no, other times it’s not now, even silence or stillness can be your answer. God may be saying stay still for a while, let it be.

I agree. When I think of personal legend, I definitely think of purpose. We all have one. I’ve explored mine through a framework I call the 8 Principles of Purpose. Take 15 minutes and try answering them for yourself. I would love to hear your feedback. I don’t think Paulo just wants his characters to discover purpose. He wants us to. I want us to.

    Peace,

    Part 1: Where am I?

    1. Principles: What beliefs do I believe will equate to success for me?
    2. Passions: What do I love doing and why?
    3. Problems & Pain: What social, science, technical, and/or personal
question or pain do I want to solve?
    4. People & Place: Who do I want to serve and where?

Part 2: Where am I going?

    5. Picture: What’s my vision for myself and the world?
    6. Pioneers: Who are my models? Mentors? Guides?
    7. Positioning: What do I want to be #1 in the world at?
    8. Possibility: How will people experience life differently because of me?
