When I think of personal legend, I definitely think of purpose. We all have one. I've explored mine through a framework I call the 8 Principles of Purpose. Take 15 minutes and try answering them for yourself. I would love to hear your feedback. I don't think Paulo just wants his characters to discover purpose. He wants us to. I want us to. We all want things, we struggle to achieve things, things we think will bring us joy, happiness, success, but there comes a time when you have done all you can and you have only two choices. You can become frustrated, bitter and angry, or surrender yourself to God's will. By that I don't mean you give up, but you pause for a minute and you ask God, is this really what I'm supposed to be doing, or do you have a different plan for me? God's plan is always better than any plan you can conceive for yourself, you just need to open up to God and do as the alchemist does, follow the omens. There are always omens, signs, clues. All you need is prayer and awareness. When you pray the answer doesn't always comes when you expected, or as you expect it. Sometimes the answer is no, other times it’s not now, even silence or stillness can be your answer. God may be saying stay still for a while, let it be.
