Is the religion is something essentially masculine?

by Paulo Coelho on March 14, 2008

Brida
In Brida, a book of mine that will be published in various countries (from March onwards) but written in 1990, I already talked about the Great Mother and the pagan religions. Do you think, 18 years later, that people have become more open to this? Or do you think that religion is still something essentially masculine?

This book was released on March 3rd.

dede los tiempos mas antiguos quienes predicaban eran los hombres un ejemplo claro los apostoles fue mas facil para ellos porque las mujeres siempre estuvieron a cargo de sus hijos, hoy en dia ,lo mismo ocurre el hombre puede dejar de ser padre para dedicarse a la iglesia y las mujeres que optan por sevir a DIOS se convierten en monjas que ayudan a los curas.

I think the musculine side was very strong until Mother Mary came up to the stage.
“Let it be” was another side and was the truth of nature.

In my point of view, western culture has a very strong musculine energy, and Eastern culture has a very strong feminine energy.

What makes the difference?
I think that if musculine energy becomes strong, people would start believing in heaven and God.
And if feminine energy becomes strong, people will start believing in reincarnation.
This is how I feel about musculine and feminine energy.

I think John Lennon had a very strong musculine energy and Ono Yoko had a very strong feminine energy.
When those energy became one, song like “Imagine” was created.

You know, I never saw God as being a “masculine” being. I believe He is the embodiment of both masculine and feminine energy just as we all are.

About religion -
the Burqua -
I went to three catholic schools and I remembered the nuns wearing similar attires yet I don’t recall anyone protesting about sending their children to school because of what the nuns were wearing .
seems to me a bit of a double standard that’s all.

I think that gender should not be an issue in religion for we are all equal in the eyes of God.

I agree to walaa, we are created by God as male or female, but it does not mean that God is either of the two. He created the two genders to partner and multiply and fill the earth.

religion is just the central point of anybody s life.its neither to classify its followers as male or female, nor it needs bravery.its just a direction and only a matter of belief .

La religion en francais est du genre feminin. Religion in French is feminine.
They have been the causes of wars for donkeys. Les religions ont ele la cause de guerres depuis des siecles.

REM – Losing my religion

“L’auteur de ma vie
Je suis l’auteur de ma vie,
Les succes et les echecs,
Les joies et les querelles

J’auditionne tous les jours
Les personnages et je decide
Qui partira et qui restera

Oui, je suis l’auteur de ma vie.

Je choisis egalement le cadre :
Montagne, ville ou mer.
Est ce que ce sera une comedie,
Epopee ou tragedie?

Cette decison repose sur moi.

Je decide qui aura le role principalo.
Bien entendu, le role principal
C’est moi qui le tiendrait.

Pendant des heures et des heures
Je repete pour que ce personnage
Devienne une benediction ou une malediction.

Accordez-vous un peu de temps pour reflechir
Et devenez l’auteur de votre vie.

Nicholas Lentinel

“The author of my life

I am the author of my life,
The success and failures,
The joys and strife.

I audition characters every day
And decide which will go
And which will stay.

Yes, I am the author of the play.

The setting is also mine to choose.
The setting of mountain, city or sea,
That decision rests upon me
Comedy, epic or tragedy.

I decide what the leading person should be,
The leading person, of course, is me.

Hours and hours I rehearse
To make that character
A blessing or a curse.

So give this idea some thought to-day
And you be the author of your play.”

This might not answer your question..
but i personally believe that God is not masculine, nor feminine..
God created both Male, and Female..and that doesn't mean that He/She has to be one of them..
My opinion, He is both masculine, and feminine..but it's just a matter of words, using He, or She is like using God or Allah..they all refer to the ONE creator..

Dearest Paulo and friends,

I know this comment is a rather late, i doubt most of you will even read it, but i’d like to put my little comment in anyway.. I think we must also remember other religions greatly acknowledge the famine side of God, or rather the Goddess, for example, my religion, Hinduism. I’ve grrown up praying and learning of many of our Goddesses and i suppose thats why when i started learning about other religions such as Christainity, and did discover the female side of it, i didn’t see it to drastically out of the ordinary. But my opinion remains, that there are many manifestations of God and many paths. It is up to you, to focus on what you are most comfortable with, and what you love the most. Further more, i have to agree with many of the comments, stating that the newer generations are more open to finding new interpretations of religions and more and more people are starting to think for themselves slowly and searching for what they believe in.

Thank you for being
Yajna

In genesis God is not the only one God, as we “may become like Us”.

Dear Leaf,

Just a thought…

for example,
if…by doing something…your child is becoming like…you, does it mean that he/she IS you?
or…
does it mean that you both are alike?
:-)

love
Agnieszka
