My unfulfilled desires

My unfulfilled desires

One of the favorite questions of the journalists : ” now that you got everything you wanted, do you still have dreams?”

First, I didn’t get everything I wanted, although I got the most important things in life (love, fulfilling my personal legend, faith). Writing is a constant challenge, where you have to dig into your soul, having discipline, inspiration, and courage at the same time.

Second, like everybody else, I have my list of things that I want to do, and are still waiting. I don’t make “New Year’s” resolutions, but there are several unfulfilled tasks. I have enough time (contrary to the legend that famous people are always busy – they are not), I can afford, but I postpone.

Here is my list of things that I would love to do, and I never did. Would you please also share yours?

A]to learn how to dance well (from a 1 to 10 scale, I would say I am 2)

B] to learn how to play guitar ( from the same scale, I am definitely 1)

C] spend three months in a monastery, totally isolated from the world ( I already talked to the abbot three years ago, but I am always postponing)

D] a safari in Africa (politically incorrect, of course)

E] to sponsor a good boxer (I know it sounds politically incorrect, as the previous item, but boxing for me is the ultimate body dialogue)

F] to learn boxing myself

G] being in orbit circling the planet (the Russians are making a business out of it, but I never actually sought the information out)

H] to have dinner with Nelson Mandela (this one I tried, but I did not manage so far)

I] to fly a Mirage (as a passenger, of course)

While writing this list, I realized that I did most of the things I wanted (the most recent being a 9.280 kms train journey from Moscow to Vladivostok, in 2006). And probably I also have some other itens that are so hidden in my heart that I don’t even know. But just in case that I remember some more, I will update this list.

So, what are your “New Year” resolutions that you never ever managed to fulfill?

5. Find deep true love
6. Own and live in my Dream Home

8. Help the underprivileged children
9. Adopt a daughter from grief-stricken country
10. Complete my vow to God

12. Want to meet you Paulo, and at least have the opportunity to thank you personally, for sharing your soul and all of the additional encouragement and joy you bring to the lives of all of us and to discuss other aspects of life that only you would understand how confused my world is .

I hope I will be able to do all of the above

peace Paul, I realize this is an old post, I a, wondering how you are doing on those unfulfilled desires? Any change?

I found this when searching for insight on unfulfilled desires; what to do if their fulfillment eludes us? Crazy. I think the answer lies in the shift between waiting and creating, but I’m not sure what that means yet.

1) to learn to paint (the paints are here, I haven’t started)
2) to record my musical compositions with full arrangement
3) to put the 3 books and 1,000 poems i have bloating around in my brain down on paper or digital space
4) to grow a beautiful flower garden (my experience is like Einstein with the light bulb…many failed attempts!)
5) to develop a deep an rich understanding of love through cultivation all all kinds of relationships. (a work in infinite progress)

peace and love to you my friend, you inspire me.

I don’t think i have done justice to my heart this long,so my first desire is -
1. Shut my brain talking about practicality and rationale and listen to heart about what it dreams.
2. Find out about RAM
3. Learn the tradition of the Sun
3. To meet and commune with Paulo Coelho and let conversation take its own course.
4. I guess I have realized what magic is, I want to learn how to invoke magic.
5. To spend some time, out from the world, in a Buddhist monastery in Tibet.
6. To complete my journey on the way of the sword and not abandon it like i did to many ways earlier.
7. I have been waiting all my life for one particular teacher, now that I have met her i want to go beyond my limits to reach out to her.
8. To be gentle on myself and give myself more time for my soulmate.
9. To complete the story i started.
10. To get involved in photography more passionately, and complete my dream of completing a photographic album on the forts of India.
11. Travel around the world.
12. To be in love with life every moment I live henceforth.

Desires over desires. If you are serious ill all your desires concentrate in one overwhelming whish: To recover again. That does not mean to forget all other desires. To fullfill also little desires helps you to endure misery and keep quality of life as far as possible.

As you described, Paulo, in ‘Eleven Minutes’ in the myth of Plato [I am Greek], we once were androgynous creatures, very strong, self-contented, happy..etc. Then we were divided into two.. Since then, we spend our lives searching for our other half and feeling lonely and incomplete.. My ideal is of feeling peace, love, happiness, joy, to communicate with others with telepathy and being able to feel what others feel.. Sometimes this was possible, but instead of solving problems things were more complicated!!Because, we human beings, feel, think and what we can express is usually, far from the Truth.
I have a dream of everybody finding his personal path and the lucky may find the other half!! This planet is not a place of happiness, for sure.. The Real Life is somewhere else. All my love, Thelma

This was my comment in 2008!
Regarding ‘Desires’, metaphysically speaking, it is said that they are what keep us bound on Earth, ‘in flesh’ and in the circle of incarnation! Every second we, in our minds, create thoughts. Our heart also has desires.. Once a desire is ‘born’ we want to have it fulfilled. We think that when we will acquire what we have dreamt of, we will be happy. Maybe we become happy or .. disappointed; at the same time we feel worried, stressed and insecure. Because we all know that everything .. flows. We cannot keep ‘in our palm’ our .. happiness! Nothing lasts for ever..
Material things, as our bodies, have a time of … expiration! We are ‘prisoners’ in time and space. The eternal part of ourselves ‘knows’ the Truth. These are all ILLUSIONS. But by living, experiencing and tasting these illusions, we are trying to transform our darkness into Light. To clear our inner vision and find out what our Soul most desires: to taste and find true, eternal love.
LOVE,
Thelma xxx

Nunca hago una lista de propositos cada año, no me gusta quedar mal conmigo misma, respecto a los que tengo a mi alcance cumplir.
Pero si menciono algunos, aqui los comparto con ustedes:
1) aprender a nadar y hablar inglés.

On an amazing journey today and then, linked to this question.

Thinking about the movie ‘The Bucket List’ for many reasons and more often lately. It is amazing that five of the things on your list Paulo, I have either done to the letter, or similarily!

Wondering if it is a common thing to delay or neglect unfulfilled desires?

This list is short:

Developing a strong nesting feeling for the last few months. Would like to try settling in, slowing down, with a physical home base (the longest I was in one residence since adulthood is 8 years).

- Want to meet you Paulo, and at least have the opportunity to thank you personally, for sharing your soul and all of the additional encouragement and joy you bring to the lives of all of us.

- Enjoy more dinners with family, friends, including playtime with the little ones in our growing family.

- Make more time for fun to balance some of the current tension in my life. What would that be??. Most fun things are unplanned; the result of spontaneity while doing something else!

- Work on a project, it would have to be a fun one.

Tout fini! Enjoyed reading everyone’s lists.

Like you, I don’t make New Year’s resolutions. If it’s important enough to commit to, then it’s important enough for me to make the commitment any time of year.

I do still have some heart’s desires to fulfill. I want to see my 15 month old son grow up and continue to experience the delight and joy he shows today. I am grateful to experience that with him every day and to be able to reinforce his natural state of being as much as possible.

My heart is growing larger than my current employer can hold, and so I seek to help others discover themselves. I have touched many, and I wish to touch more.

I want to be with the northern lights again. I saw them one night while in Scotland, and now I would like to spend more intimate time with them.

I would like to reach a point of inner peace and self-sustainability in which I would no longer feel compelled to work to earn enough income to support my family.

Ever since I was a child, I wanted to be an astronaut. I went to Space Camp twice, studied astronomy and physics, and then at the age of 16 realized I didn’t want to fly airplanes all my life just to be able to go into space. Though I gave up on that specific path, the dream is still there.

Perhaps once you make contact with the Russians, you will share your information with me so that I may follow suit? :)

I am 50…last year I met my soul mate…I knew it immediately…she knew it too..
I travel the journey…sense Yahweh…El Shaddai..the breasted on….Jesus..my mate
..closer to God..
Continue to be as fit as most 20 or 30 year olds…I
..love… yoga……tai chi…now kick boxing..combat

I read Brida just after…a soul mate experience..I just finished Witch of Portobello…
..this is part of the journey….we are teaching each other from a distance in…separate lives in many ways…but together…
I desire two lives..in parallel..not necessarily reincarnate…one with my Wicca…one with my Brida..maybe in sequence..anything is possible
We see darkly now…one day we will see clearly.

I just registered to submit a film to your Witch Experiment film concept…as the Scotland Yard detective..I envisage the scene..sharing with you Paulo..and our angels..and our soulmates…about Athena.
Walk on water
….that’s my farewell…for now…I’d like to do that too..walk on water that is…kite surfing is as close as I get

Here is my list:

Having a job where my dog could stay with me (I hate leaving him alone for hours locked in a house where he hasn´t got not even a garden. That is cruel, isn´t it? He is not even able to go to the toilet til I get home).

Living close to good places where my dog could enjoy (not as a slave with a leash all the time).

Seeing my dog happy, interacting with friends freely.

Learn how to cook properly (I´m not talking only about not burning all the pots and saucepans of the kitchen (even almost the kitchen once … ) but despite of that, create delicious food).

Learning Yoga and meditation.

Learning the belly dance.

Attend to a Tea Ceremony where tea bags and being in a hurry is forbidden.

Learn to play the piano.

Improve my English till perfection? … Maybe.

Dear Leaf,
You’re welcome! I really hope that our dream will come true very soon! :-)
And dear Yajna, I also like your ideas very much and the way you express them too. It’s true, pure desires represent in fact our lives summed up, preparing us for the next journey, whatever that is…maybe that of a new dimension, of the Spirit. That’s why it’s essential to pay attention to what we think and desire because thoughts are put into action and get materialized sooner or later… :o)

May God bless the whole world with another dimension, that of the Spirit, of the Light and absolute Truth!
Lots of love,
Carmen Larisa

I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions either, but I do make a list of things that I’d like to do or accomplish every year. I always try to include a few ‘firsts’ on that list.
2008
1) Hiking (not just a nature trail) and Camping
2) Horseback riding lessons
3) Getting to Crestone, Colorado
4) Creating, finding a way to make a living by creating

There are a few more personal items on my ‘to do’ list, but I risk sounding like a forlorn teenager so I dare not go there.

Thank you for your beautiful writing,
Thank you for having the courage to put it out for all the world to see.

Victoria J.
