Question of the Week

My unfulfilled desires

One of the favorite questions of the journalists : ” now that you got everything you wanted, do you still have dreams?”

First, I didn’t get everything I wanted, although I got the most important things in life (love, fulfilling my personal legend, faith). Writing is a constant challenge, where you have to dig into your soul, having discipline, inspiration, and courage at the same time.

Second, like everybody else, I have my list of things that I want to do, and are still waiting. I don’t make “New Year’s” resolutions, but there are several unfulfilled tasks. I have enough time (contrary to the legend that famous people are always busy – they are not), I can afford, but I postpone.

Here is my list of things that I would love to do, and I never did. Would you please also share yours?

A]to learn how to dance well (from a 1 to 10 scale, I would say I am 2)

B] to learn how to play guitar ( from the same scale, I am definitely 1)

C] spend three months in a monastery, totally isolated from the world ( I already talked to the abbot three years ago, but I am always postponing)

D] a safari in Africa (politically incorrect, of course)

E] to sponsor a good boxer (I know it sounds politically incorrect, as the previous item, but boxing for me is the ultimate body dialogue)

F] to learn boxing myself

G] being in orbit circling the planet (the Russians are making a business out of it, but I never actually sought the information out)

H] to have dinner with Nelson Mandela (this one I tried, but I did not manage so far)

I] to fly a Mirage (as a passenger, of course)

While writing this list, I realized that I did most of the things I wanted (the most recent being a 9.280 kms train journey from Moscow to Vladivostok, in 2006). And probably I also have some other itens that are so hidden in my heart that I don’t even know. But just in case that I remember some more, I will update this list.

So, what are your “New Year” resolutions that you never ever managed to fulfill?

  • Like you, I don’t make New Year’s resolutions. If it’s important enough to commit to, then it’s important enough for me to make the commitment any time of year.

I do still have some heart’s desires to fulfill. I want to see my 15 month old son grow up and continue to experience the delight and joy he shows today. I am grateful to experience that with him every day and to be able to reinforce his natural state of being as much as possible.

My heart is growing larger than my current employer can hold, and so I seek to help others discover themselves. I have touched many, and I wish to touch more.

I want to be with the northern lights again. I saw them one night while in Scotland, and now I would like to spend more intimate time with them.

I would like to reach a point of inner peace and self-sustainability in which I would no longer feel compelled to work to earn enough income to support my family.

Ever since I was a child, I wanted to be an astronaut. I went to Space Camp twice, studied astronomy and physics, and then at the age of 16 realized I didn’t want to fly airplanes all my life just to be able to go into space. Though I gave up on that specific path, the dream is still there.

Perhaps once you make contact with the Russians, you will share your information with me so that I may follow suit? :)

  • I am 50…last year I met my soul mate…I knew it immediately…she knew it too..
    I travel the journey…sense Yahweh…El Shaddai..the breasted on….Jesus..my mate
    ..closer to God..
Continue to be as fit as most 20 or 30 year olds…I
    ..love… yoga……tai chi…now kick boxing..combat

I read Brida just after…a soul mate experience..I just finished Witch of Portobello…
..this is part of the journey….we are teaching each other from a distance in…separate lives in many ways…but together…
    I desire two lives..in parallel..not necessarily reincarnate…one with my Wicca…one with my Brida..maybe in sequence..anything is possible
We see darkly now…one day we will see clearly.

I just registered to submit a film to your Witch Experiment film concept…as the Scotland Yard detective..I envisage the scene..sharing with you Paulo..and our angels..and our soulmates…about Athena.
    Walk on water
….that’s my farewell…for now…I’d like to do that too..walk on water that is…kite surfing is as close as I get

  • Here is my list:

Having a job where my dog could stay with me (I hate leaving him alone for hours locked in a house where he hasn´t got not even a garden. That is cruel, isn´t it? He is not even able to go to the toilet til I get home).

Living close to good places where my dog could enjoy (not as a slave with a leash all the time).

Seeing my dog happy, interacting with friends freely.

Learn how to cook properly (I´m not talking only about not burning all the pots and saucepans of the kitchen (even almost the kitchen once … ) but despite of that, create delicious food).

    Learning Yoga and meditation.

    Learning the belly dance.

Attend to a Tea Ceremony where tea bags and being in a hurry is forbidden.

    Learn to play the piano.

Improve my English till perfection? … Maybe.

  • Dear Leaf,
You’re welcome! I really hope that our dream will come true very soon! :-)
And dear Yajna, I also like your ideas very much and the way you express them too. It’s true, pure desires represent in fact our lives summed up, preparing us for the next journey, whatever that is…maybe that of a new dimension, of the Spirit. That’s why it’s essential to pay attention to what we think and desire because thoughts are put into action and get materialized sooner or later… :o)

May God bless the whole world with another dimension, that of the Spirit, of the Light and absolute Truth!
    Lots of love,
    Carmen Larisa

  • I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions either, but I do make a list of things that I’d like to do or accomplish every year. I always try to include a few ‘firsts’ on that list.
    2008
    1) Hiking (not just a nature trail) and Camping
    2) Horseback riding lessons
    3) Getting to Crestone, Colorado
    4) Creating, finding a way to make a living by creating

There are a few more personal items on my ‘to do’ list, but I risk sounding like a forlorn teenager so I dare not go there.

Thank you for your beautiful writing,
Thank you for having the courage to put it out for all the world to see.

  • Dear Paolo

These days I think I just need to find myself and to understand my actions. I’ve been following my ‘legend’ these years and life has been challenging and good, but there is still something missing and I don’t know what this is. It feels like a desire, like longing after a lost one, like searching for something in the more abstract world of dreams. It sometimes feels like my soul cries and I don’t know why. In the more pragmatic world, I would like to contribute more as a doctor and work with and for people again. And I would like to meet with you one day.

    Love

    Delia
