SAO PAULO (Reuters) - During the course of his life, Paulo Coelho spent time in a mental institution, wrote several popular songs and became one of world’s best-selling authors with novels like “The Alchemist”.
But according to biographer Fernando Morais, that doesn’t begin to tell the story of the author’s life.
“O Mago” (”The Wizard”), a new biography of Coelho, reveals the wild, sometimes dark, past of the Brazilian writer, Morais said.
“It has everything. Violence, sex, religion, rock and roll, Satanism. And it ends with redemption, because his dream of being a famous writer comes true,” Morais said at a news conference in Sao Paulo.

“Paulo had so many crazy experiences you almost can’t believe it,” Morais said. “I felt like Indiana Jones when I opened that chest.”

well it just goes to prove that you don’t have to be crazy to live in this world……….but it helps ;-)
So long as the story has a happy ending……
I can’t wait to read The Magus, hope it is available here soon, well not too soon because I have to read Brida first.
Love, Paul
Honesty separates the wheat from the chaff, and you have my uttermost respect.

I always thought you are a complex personality.Temptations were even on your road, but how strong you may be to surpass them. The lost son returning home bring more happiness to our Father.Regarding mental institute,I have a bad opinion on the ability of the doctors on making the right diagnosis and treatment.Too many maladies without cure.I dont know if I do the right thing ,but happend that a nobody talked bad about you.I really cant stand that,I think is more envy .I appreciate you very much. All my love and respect for you ,dear writer.bye
Why is it that I have to wait until March 2009 for this book. The english language editions come to the US last. I’ve been trying to get an english version of Brida for months….does it exist? Show America some love!! :)

Honestly can’t wait to read it in English!
Shocking sexual experiences, Satanism,… oh yes, this stuff sells! I guess this book will be selled at least as much as your books, but for different reasons.
By the way I don’t consider it shocking having sex in front of your girlfriends paralegis relative, if he wnted to watch you and you wanted to be watched. Also homosexual experiments are not seldom in an adolescent age.
But another thing makes me thinking:
Will it be worth to tell all these things the whole world to know the name of the man who tortured you? By the way, what will you say to this man, what do you exspect of this knowledge?
I hope really you did not made another pact with the devil by this deal!
Are you really in the position to be so successful and appreciated to afford such a risky deal?
I had liked better the idea to burn the chest when you die! But nevertheless I will read the book and shurely will commend it then. Guaranteed!
Dear Monika you already did.

You inspire me to write, to live, to be honest, to reveal the freedom within.
Paulo, you were put on this earth to do exactly as you are…for this I will ever be grateful!

“what will you say to this man, what do you exspect of this knowledge?”
Well, by now that man will probaply be dead so there won’t be much to say.The Dead are not affected by our evil deeds. If he is not dead then he will probaply be “half in the grave” so, contitions will be quite the same.
But, how was it possible for Coelho to “return to the father” with his “innocence” intact having done all the sins that open minded street people do.
Is it possible for one to un-twist himself after all the darkness he’s put himself through? How?
You have to consider that revealing yout most intimate experiences of life to everyone can disenchant the magician!
You are very brave.
I deeply admire your courage to wish a confrontation with the man who once totured you! After thinking about it for some time I can also follow it. But was there no other way to find the man than by giving someone your diaries to publish??? Why don’t you write an autobiography?
When can I purchase a copy of the Wizard in Australia?
I am looking forward to reading this book. It will be released in the US on December the 9th. I love all your books but I am interested in learning about your life. Your work is very inspirational. Obrigado!
