The simple reason is that the Eyes do not lie.
I can not agree that eyes do not deceive. Though I agree that they are windows to the soul, if one is dealing with some one who is lacking in soul, then those eyes can lie quite easily to match the lie of the action or the words. So much is perception but I know I have been lied to and never saw it coming to me. There are people who seek to gain by their very image, a paradox of humanity, and they are good at their deception. Discernment is necessary alongside faith. A very difficult balance. Gratefully it is not usually necessary.

as far as my own explanation goes i believe God knew there would be moments when we would be unable to express ourselves by even the strongest adjectives, so there He went creating eyes with the ability to work as a mirror to the inner self to help serve as the best language that could be understood by anyone from any part of the world.
Because he doesn’t lie,is opened or closed,are darks or shinning. I never mistake when looks in the eyes.Never

I think It is not only eyes, but also the energy. In this time, nobody wants to look up and see people´s eyes because we are too afraid of being hurt….But, sometimes -if we are lucky- we can see an angel´s eyes….
It is a deep connection you feel when you exchange deep eye contact with “a special someone”.
It brings on happiness, your whole attitude changes (others notice). It is a feeling that is difficult to express to others. You just KNOW it when you feel it!

i met a person that i quite much consider my soul mate..my friend’s only comment, after she saw us together was, ur eyes have a special glow and your look is just different it seems happy.. i myselff noticed that when am with him i feel my eyes glimming when i laugh..its just impossible to explain unless one lives it..

You are so true. A child never see the person bu the eyes only and they have such a strong natural sense that they can figure out, love, care, happiness or……. and they respond accodingly. Eyes don’t lie. When a child hides something, puts hands on the eyes.
We can easily tell, Happy eyes, crying eyes, clever eyes, scared eyes, glowing eyes, cruel eyes, sharp eyes……………..

Hello, I never thought I would see it in anyone’s eyes.. but recently, I experienced it in my life after I met this wonderful person. I have tried hard to read people from their eyes but always gave up because I just couldn’t get the vibes. In the end I started to think that eyes conveyed nothing but emptiness. But I am ever thankful to God for showing me those special eyes and giving me those moments when eyes communicate love and happiness, those special times when one feel touched by another soul… Blessed I am for those moments…

Now I understand, Paulo. You are absolutely correct. That too with one direct experience I got just a few days ago. I have been really very close to my grandmother ever since I was a child. Why? I do not know. It is just like that. She died young when I was about 10-12 years old. I have had so little time with her as I used to live in a city and used to go to her place for a month each year alongwith my parents. Even then, it is amazing that since then I have never forgotten her. A few days back, I had gone to her place. I saw her photograph in the worshipping room. When I saw the photo, and I was examining each aspect of her face, the jawline, the nose, lips, eyes and ears, all of a sudden, I saw her eyes had become alive! Really alive! They were looking at me with kindness and Love. And mercy too. I was astonished. I kept looking at her eyes for a few seconds trying to know as if I am in a delusion or it is real. In the end, I knew it is real. And then, suddenly, gave a full cry and big tears started to fall out of my eyes. I felt she has become a Goddess and had come to bless me letting me see her soul. Yet even, I started missing her presence. And felt as if not everyone will understand me, I wiped my face. Now I am here writing to you and understanding another coincidence. This question of yours was published in June 2008, and I have got a direct experience in June 2010, same months of even years, plus stumbling at this forum through a readers’ reply just posted!!

are those the eyes or the facial expressions that show the soul? of course they show the soul.
but the eyes also tell the truth when somebody is lying….
but what about laughter? body language?
they are not just the windows to the soul, they are the mirrors of the owner’s thoughts.
If there is something I love to do the most it is looking people in the eyes.
The best mirror of their soul that you can ever find. Nothing can escape from it, all reflected.

Now that I think of this I think about your eyes and soul too. I read so much kindness and good. So much light! No picture, no video can show that.
The best part of this is that even if you lie, your eyes will show that.
Why?
When I think of this question, first I think about the anatomic construction and their functionalism. I m sure it is mostly about this.
Our face has a big number muscles which we can control as our lips for example. The more complicated they are the more evolved and the more we can control them, but eaves aren’t that way.
Well I need to learn more about the topic but this is what I believe for the moment. I think that the anatomic construction it isn’t that complicated.
Something else we can’t easily control it is sympathetic nervous system and I think this is another reason, since it is close to our emotions. And our emotions are close to our soul.
(Oh I am missing studying some anatomy right now. Well, away from the laboratory. hahahah)
Well the ALMIGHTY has thought about everything.
Anyway, anatomy can’t explain everything, because there are some other kind of special eyes who radiate love and much strength at the same time.
Those kind of eyes can make people feel guilty and not stand that kind of look for too long (like seconds).
Those people are really special, and I love looking into their eyes, because of what I can read in there. I have met lots of people like that and I have such kind of people around me in my life, and there is where I know that some simple anatomic explication can’t give me the answers. Not for the moment. They are too special…
For the moment looking into others eyes it is something I do cause I love it and that’s all I need to know.

Ahhh our best way to sneak through each other’s soul. Calmness, Happiness, anger, pain, Love…
why is it so hard to look straight in the eye when we lie? or when the object of our attention speaks to us eye to eye?
I suppose it is because we are afraid to expose the truth…the truth that words and actions can hide… the truth our eyes reveals.
I guess it is these experiences shows that the eyes truly are the windows of our soul.

It is amazing how deep we reach the soul of someone, we love and trust, when we look into his eyes.
Eyes are like a mirror – reflecting what we see in it as it is- no distortions – so they are the windows of the soul. everything else can be hidden behind a mask – but not the emotions reflected in the eyes. A smile may hide the sorrow of the heart but not the sadness in the eyes,every little emotion is beautifully expressed by the eyes – anger, guilt, embarrassment, shyness, love, trust….so no doubt that eyes are the windows to the soul

eyes never lie!!!
Eyes do not tell lies, this our reflection oppress. On them it is possible to understand the person, almost always. Very much frequently we are dared and have fun, but our eyes sad. They dim and without shine when we are unfortunate. I would like, that my eyes smiled, but it not always so. And to represent it I be not able, very few people is able probably.
I miss his eyes, his smile,his soul….
although the heart is often associated with emotions the more true part is the eyes
It is as such because the first part of your body effected by emotions are your eyes, and the soul is made of emotions (example in a recent green day song called 21 guns it includes a part that says “when your mind breaks the spirit of your soul” the spirit of ur soul being your emotions… that happens when thought vs emotions such as if the first person to capture flu were killed, the disease would not have spread but our human emotions do not allow us to do so)
Because you can see so much just in the eye – love, trust, straightforwardness, faith, a secret, a smile….. you can look into the soul.
Sometimes i play a game with my daughter to look
straight in the of the eyes of each other.
And the winner is the one who can look for longest time
without laughing.

because eyes are the showcase of your inward being.its like a transparent covering trough which you can see the instant responses of your thoughts and depths of your soul.its the only apparent way to peep inside the other person.

fueron solo milésimas de segundo…y en ese corto tiempo me pareció haber atravesado casi todo su ser, me pareció que detrás de toda esa máscara estaba la razón de por qué ella era así,la razón de existir de esa cáscara. me pareció haberla conocido y entendido…me despertó esa ternura que hace tiempo no sentía. Sentí que su soledad era la misma que sentía yo, que tenía el mismo vacío dentro que el mío…

Pues,respondiendo a la pregunta, creo que los ojos son el alma, o por lo menos su ventana…porque con ellos no se necesitan las palabras,son el medio para que el alma pueda sentir y pueda dar en su totalidad,sin esconder…y seguramente, es por ello que cuando ocurre es algo que “no tiene explicación”.

Do people believe there is a good reason for their being able to see into another’s soul? If they could see in, what would they do with the information they discovered? Judge the person?

Words can be controlled through thinking; actions can be controlled through thinking; facial expression can be controlled by controlling your mussels, even around the eyes. But it is not the eye that reflects the soul but the light in it. The light I believe comes from you unconsciousness: you can’t control that. Some people have a spark, some people have a “veil”, and that’s how I usually “know”.

Through the eyes you can express feelings. Can you trust that what you see is what it is. Why do you sometimes trhough your eyes not see what other people see? or the other way. And In the future realise that you only saw what you wanted too see.I guess with an unlimited mind only your creativity can put limits to what you can see of visions and details in a window. And so your eyes cant hide your feelings, and then it will depend on what those who lookes in yours eyes wants, maybe chooses to observe. i’ve never realized or notice or gave thought when i looked into anyones’ eye!!! well just want to say something i know that this “eyes are the windows of the soul” goes back to ancient near east,the summerians god and godess had huge eyes with connecting eyebrow and less emphasis were given in the structure of the body so that the eyes would stand out.Being a immortal being communication with human was something powerful.The priest communicated the gods with their eyes. with this little knowlegde of mine i conclude that according to me eyes tells us or show us something that words cant fully express, something that rings a bell in ur thoughts or heart, something the two person only feels but not know what to call it, something that only ur heart and soul knows. and about the blind,i would say they are unique (wont call them literally blind) something they have or know what we dont have or know.

I agree with your miss sofi, it always happens to me. I can tell by the look of a person if he/she is trust worthy, sometimes the same person has different personalities and you can tell what they are feeling by looking into their eyes.

I think being blind or not has no thing to do with the eyes being the windows of the soul or not. Blind persons´eyes´can show their energy and inner state as well as eyes of somebody who is able to see physically.
There are other ways to receive, see or feel someone´s energy. We do it all the time whether we are conscious of it or not. Seing someone´s energy and being in the eyes is a worldwide common way. It goes for blind people too. soem people that are physically blind are perfectably able to see or sense energy around them and very well know who´s with them. So they´re perfectly included in this way of communicating…
Some people say that tears are the blood of the soul… when you cry we see in the eyes many emotions… (happiness , sadness, rage) when we laugh our eys shine.. when we feel ashamed we try not to focus our eyes on someone else eyes… when we lie we look down… I would like to share something that happens to me sometimes and it is that when I see someone from a foreing country at first I don’t see much in his eyes its almost like an absent feeling of the sould but then when I meet the person I start seeing his soul… it’s amazing
