Today’s Question by Aart Hilal

Do you feel the connection with others Latin-American writers? Had the writers, such as Borges, Márquez and others have any influence on you or your work?

Of course I’m bound to other writers. Borges has been a constant source of inspiration. It’s through his novels and short stories that I found ideas that subsequently became books.
The Zahir for instance was a term that I found in one of his stories and his definition is what propelled me towards the realms of obsession.
He also guided me throughout my youth. I remember, when I only caressed the dream of becoming a writer, that I took a two day bus trip to Buenos Aires to meet him. I saw him in a caf - but didn’t have the courage to talk to him. I regret this. Specially from a man that said something that I regard as being one of the fundamental truths in life: “there no other virtue than being brave”.
With time I came to realize this: that braveness is not the absence of fear but rather the strength to keep on going forward despite the fear.

“Carry on, love is coming, love is coming to us all” A great song by Crosby, Stills Nash & Young that just says it all….Love, Paul

I agree with your realization about fear as it is similar to my own: It’s okay to be afraid but don’t let it stop you from doing what you want to do.

“Braveness is not the absence of fear but rather the strength to keep on going forward despite the fear.”

I put that truly sentence in the blog I created today, for my case. And I thank you. It will help me in going forward.

I never encountered problems to talk to a person, whenever my heart desired it. Even famous ones, I did.
This is my heart who considers if it is time to meet someone. With signs. Even if I have an appointment that are going to be postponed or annulated, my dreams just warn me about it, and the reason why. Because the person in subject comes to see me and tell it in them…
Moreover when the person in question is not sure if he’s up to meet me, by advancing, delaying, or shrinking back, without explanations…

Famous people always receives favorable regard, I don’t agree with. Because they are far from being perfect.
There are no superior, nor inferior persons. That’s why I’m not scared about meeting anyone.
Of course, that does not mean, that some of them don’t impress my feelings. But the day I’m up to meet one of them, nothing could stop me. I did before for Ray Charles as an example.

For those who are in the confidence now, it’s up to them to recognize their potential fault. Or act with gall not to see me anymore.

    With gratitude.

Don’t give in to your fears, if you do, you won’t be able to talk to your heart….

Fear is a great enemy, many times is more dangerous than perils .And the worst part is that we are those who produces it,lacking self confidence. But how brave is that who had fear, than he took courage and make it by himself?I am just praising you, dear writer. You are inspairing me.I love Borges,is unique, interesting.

What a luck we live in modern times and we have the opportunity to communicate with you in this blog. This way I don’t have to travel and above all it is easy to be brave to say everything what I want to say feeling out of harms way!
