On the Virgin’s right side, a winged Mars figure, attired with a helmet sword, and tunic, holds in his right hand a long spear and in his left a set of scales, and he stands upon an eagle. Flanking this scene are a number of Saints, including St. Peter, St. Bonaventure, and possibly St. Andrew.
The work is dedicated to Pope Paul V (Pope from 1605-21), who was particularly interested in books, greatly extending the Vatican Library during his Pontificate, and beginning a collection of Antiquities. He would, of course, be entirely sympathetic to, and probably encouraged, the scholarly pursuits of Hepburn. His more open approach to scholarship, allowed Hepburn the freedom even to consider publishing his translation of the Kabbalistic piece, even although a decade or so before, Giordano Bruno was burned at the stake in Rome as a heretic for pursuing similar interests.

Another image of unity, the tree of life, the ultimate oneness of creation. The attribution of all language back to a pre-Babel mandorla of female one-ness, of planetary synchronicity and spritual sanctity. The Virga (alphabet, rod, virgin) is magical because it enshrines these three symbols into one ‘golden’ alchemical unity.
The first thing I saw when I looked at today’s image was an ancient calendar of some sort. It has to do with the way the picture was layed out. There is a lot of detail for an image this size. I found a more clearer image on the internet to further study it. The notes were helpful.

Yo lo primero que he pensado al ver la imagen del día es en lo mucho que se parece a la carta del Mundo del Tarot.Al menos la escena central.
Luego he pensado en que la Virgen que aparece en esta imagen me recuerda mucho a una imagen de la Virgen hecha de madera que era de mi abuela María. Aunque cuando me he fijado un poco he visto que hay bastantes diferencias aunque la posición es la misma.
Y para terminar me ha llamado la atención que aparezca el sol formando la mandorla que rodea a la virgen. La luna, que aparece a los pies de la virgen, y las estrellas que la rodean simbolizan para mi el hecho de que la Virgen rija el Universo.

The four elemental triangles that became a star of six points may conduce the human being to overcome a duality, to reach the trinity .
He’s now entering the sixth, in polarity with the seven, that obliged him to go deeper in himself. That duality is expressed by the couples sitting from earth, -because of the feet on the “ground”-, to the different state above.
On the left background, a woman is sitting with a cup, on which a snake is in defensive behaviour. Thus man has another snake to fight, in order to enter the air element as we are then in sky.
We could also notice there, that the ring up to her head represents a sun, while the man’s one is a crescent moon. both recurrent in the whole drawing, It may significates that we have to enter air, by the work on fire and water.
As in the skies, the raven is situated in the south of VIrgo. I can’t tell about the main and all other characters, unless Peter I recognized with his two keys. But once again, he himself, with this two objects, could have other meanings…
The raven is seen differently according to the culture: He could be unreliable, as for Noah, the feared 13th month in Babylonian civilization, but good death messenger for others… It belongs to animal reign. So to the fourth state of evolution, into the fourth day of creation, no?
But as the therianthrope in the right background, half- lion, and half draco, the raven is between earth and sky.
They maybe both represent the darkness we have to fight to really enter the air, with the help of winged creatures.
Yet the two personages in the left down background seem to represent the seal of six points. Then the couple in the right down, the beginning of the work we have to do to enter the seven.
Through three couples, that also makes 6.
The man on the left seems to be the link to earth. Maybe the representation of God on Earth.
Entering the air, in the middle we discover a WoMan, the title tells us she is a Virgin. She has her feet upon the moon. To represent it, the drawer has to figure a crescent. Maybe the Ascencion, we celebrate the 15th of August, takes place under full state. I couldn’t but think about saint-John:
