  • Blake shows again that he not think God intended to hinder the serpent,or that the Angel has not enough power against the serpent. The moment of Love of Adam and Eve,now safe,is near to be in great danger, the serpent hanges over them like the spade of Damocles.Really intrigant the defeat of the Angel, maybe we see something related to other picture of Blake, that men are alone in front of the universe.

    Dear Agnieszka,
I writte you an explication. I hope that you understand all my sometimes confuse english… :-)
“Genesis 1 27. “And God created man in His own image and likeness; what created the image of God created man and woman.
    28. And blessed, (…). ”
Lilith is the first wife of Adam. (As recorded in the Hebrew literature). Lilith was made with” clay soil, “like Adam. Initially, Adam was excited with this woman, but then he began to be tired of having to think about all. Lilith knew what she wanted and asked what she have been wanting.
One day Adan began to give her orders that she not did. Discouraged visiting God and told him their problems. God spoke with Lilith. She said they had been created on the same day and in the same manner, therefore had equal rights.
One day she decided that Paradise had nothing of wonderful. Lilith fled and lived in bars of demons near the Red Sea where they gave birth to many children. In response to the request of Adam, God sent three angels to carry on back. When she was found by the angels, they asked her back with Adam, but Lilith refused. As punishment, every day a hundred of her children died. Crazed, Lilith began to kill as well. Their victims were lactating women, infants and men they killed after seduce.
God then, decided to give him a companion less “independent.” Genesis 1 18. After the Lord God said: “No man should be alone. I will make adequate help.” (…), With the rib he had taken from the man, the Lord God formed a woman and submitted it to humans.
    23. The man exclaimed: That it is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh!
Women were called because the man has been taken. ”

Later appeared in the Paradise in the form of snake to give Eve the apple from the tree of knowledge.

the marriage between heaven and hell
    by William Blake

    PLATE 14
The ancient tradition that the world will be consumed in fire at the
end of six thousand years is true. as I have heard from Hell.
For the cherub with his flaming sword is hereby commanded to
leave his guard at the tree of life, and when he does, the whole crea-
tion will be consumed, and appear infinite. and holy whereas it now
    appears finite & corrupt.
This will come to pass by an improvement of sensual enjoyment.
But first the notion that man has a body distinct from his soul, is to
be expunged; this I shall do, by printing in the infernal method, by
corrosives, which in Hell are salutary and medicinal, melting apparent
surfaces away, and displaying the infinite which was hid.
If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear
to man as it is: infinite.
For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro’ narrow
    chinks of his cavern.

    Today: The Lovers
    Tarot Major Arcana

This picture really reminds me of the A.E.Waite pack illustration (made much later than this!), it is so beautiful. Blake was an incredible Visionary, who saw Angels on Peckham Rye, London.

Thank you for this fantastic blog, it is so inspirational. It really lifts my spirit, especially these pictures, which say more than a thousand words ever could.

  • Eu sou voce, venha recorda-te do inicio dos tempos.

A nossa sabedoria eh eterna, silenciosa e clara.

    siga-me pelos cristais encravados ,

    entre as raizes das arvores.

    Venha ate as raizes de nossas raizes, ao um tempo que contem o todo;

    chave dos universos

    Transforme-se transmute-se.

    Seja essencia de nossas essencias.

    Sou tua guia,

    protetora,

    teu eixo

    energia.

    Mergulhe no silencio.

    Abra os sentidos

Navege no silencio e no sentido.

    Crie o mundo novo,

    seja o homem transformado

    renasca!

    Nao tema

Abra as tuas assas cobra alada, voe,

    Serpente alada !

  • Beautiful… it looks like the angel wanted to keep guard on men and somehow it is seduced by evil; or maybe, they are both falling in love forgeting about Adam and Eve..
