After spending the whole weekend seeing movies on Iraq, reading news about the state of the world today, I decided to go for a while to the past. Of course, this changes nothing, and it can be seeing as scaping from reality, but so what? This is how I feel now, back to a time in my life where we had our problems, our challenges, but reality was, believe or not, more real than our manipulated “reality” today.
Enjoy the sound of music.

There’s nothing wrong with escaping from reality… we do it all the time, we choose what we want to hear, what we want to see and yes we could be accused of putting our heads deep in the sand sometimes, but this protects us from the blatant sensationalist photo-journalism which has become embedded in our daily lives and in our society. Does it really help us to know about every single tragedy with all the gory details…? I don’t believe so, and there’s no doubt…. no news is good news…!?
Love & make use of your power of choice, Paul
PS: I was an adolescent when this film was first released, and it gave me a warm feeling, despite the “background” story. I was also training my voice to play “Figaro” in an operetta at that time, and the film gave me a great deal of warm inspiration. Thank you.
“The sound of music”! The film I, and my children, have seen, more than a thousand times…The most successful musical of all times.. I saw it when it was first released and I still watch it. It is the optimism of the 1960-70s, in full glory. It is the belief- hope - that romantic love still exists. The words of Captain Trapp : “You cannot marry someone, when you are in love with somebody else..” The ..changing of direction in order to follow the way of the Heart. Thank you Paulo Coelho for the vivid example! The decisions that ‘ruin’ lives. LOVE, THELMA
p.s. Dear Paul from Austria, it seems that we communicate..in a way. We were writing our comments at the same time and it seems that Paulo Coelho, you and me were born almost the same ..ancient time. I, in 1948!! Since you were training for “Figaro” you may have heard of my piano Proffessor at the Musik Akademie. Dieter Weber.Thelma
The sound of music was the very first movie my dad took me to see in a movie theater. Immediately I fell in love with Mary Poppins and the happy mood in this movie. Yes, the world, so much horror. Probably the worst horror would be to grow up without a mom or a dad. What kind of psychological bomb, terror is created when million of children are abandoned to live alone in the streets? I believe every child should have an adult that would take them to the movies to watch movies like Sound of Music.
…touching, feeling emotions of the world..
love
Agnieszka
..the sounds of the music…
God and Life use some different way to help us to love them..music is a way..a way to feel our heart and continue to love in every moment ..this is the way to live better..
if there is a sweet sound in background in our life there it’s easier…with love,Rossana from italy.
Everything is alive with the sound of music * thankyou Irene.

Dearest THELMA, I am a little younger (under 60 ;) than both you… and Paulo. I was living in South East Asia at the time you were studying Pianoforte, so I did not, unfortunately, know Prof. Dieter Weber. None the less, we are are as you say… communicating on the same wave length…;) and it is truly a pleasure to be able to do so.
Love, Paul
Thank you Paulo!!! I was kind of feeling weary too, about the state of the world!!!
