The griffin/gryphos with the body of a lion and a beak and wings of the eagle. The union of the strongest animal with the strongest bird. The symbol of divine power and a guardian of the Divine. It was regarded as an animal of the Sun and pulled Apollo’s chariot accross the sky. Being a union of a terrestial beast and an aerial bird it was seen in Christianity to be a symbol of Jesus Christ. It appears in all ancient religions, the Sphinx in ancient Egypt, in pre-Olympian Gods in Greece but in Medieval times and ..Masonic temples too, guarding the gold of Divine knowledge. LOVE, THELMA

The union of the earth and the sky
Pure love, union of opposites
sulfur and mercury, hot and cold,
dry and moist, fixed and volatile, spirit and body, form and matter, active and receptive,
and male and female
The ultimate coagulation is the stone itself, capable of transmuting
base metals into gold and humans into the divine
physical “wedding” of opposites is also a metaphysical union. Its explication begins with
the Platonic assumption that humanity is divided against itself, separated into two sexes.
Often enough, it is depicted as the marriage of the masculine sun and the feminine moon.

This metaphysical union leads to death of the alchemist, as the soul leaves the body to
unite with the eternal spirit, but out of this death emerges new life. For the soul’s
departure cleanses the body, and its return, now united with the spirit, resurrects the body.
Dissolution and coagulation take place simultaneously. The body dissolves into spirit,

I like the Griffin.
A new inspiration,the Griffin. A protector of monogamous relationships. Certainly I don’t believe in sexual promiscuity. Divine True Love is when God gives two people to each other, and the love will last for all eternity. However, we are not going to be husbands and wife’s in heaven? Love exceeds way beyond two people, right! As have been pointed out in this blog previously, most species are not monogamous, and what married couple have success sexually.
May I tell a joke? I heard Dustin Hoffman tell it in an TV interview. It was the husband who asked his wife why she never tells him when she has an orgasm. “Because you are never there when it happens” she answered!
There is also the Minoan Griffin - She is feminine just like the Sphinx and symbolizes the Moon - Goddess in her death aspect.
On both sides of the throne in Knossos are Griffins.
