A common theme I’ve noticed amongst portraits surrounded by angels or demons. There are often six. The man or woman being the seventh character encompassed by a circular barrier and always in the centre of the picture.

Lucky 7, Seventh heaven. Where did those terms come from? I often wonder.

Like Goethe and Dante, Milton was canonized singlehandedly through his best work. Paradise Lost has that line by line virtuosity that Borges praised in Virgil.

Dear Paulo Coelho, I think that there has been a mistake with the picture. It is not from the series of G. Doré’s ‘Paradise Lost’.
My dear Paul from Austria, now it explains your: is it?

Thelma

The poem is a long one but has an end…! Here are the last four verses. Of course it is the story of Adam and Eve.

The world was all before them, where to choose
Their place of rest, and Providence their guide;
They. hand in hand, with wandering steps and slow,
Through Eden took their solitary way.

LOVE to all of us in our ‘solitary way,
Thelma

Hi my Anica, I tried to read it but as you said it is so long and the language difficult and with unknnown words, for me. So I had a quick glimpse and indeed it is a long….story. I am happy I know where it is and I am happy that everything -almost everything – is whithin our reach.. Thank you.
Love,
Thelma

Hi Thelma! I also like the internet now and I linked to the poem. Have you read the whole poem, because it´s a long one? Is it the whole book or just a long poem and if you have read it, how does it end? Many questions…but it´s interesting

Love
Anica

I am so happy with the ….Internet! Here is “Paradize Lost’By John Milton.
The painting is beautiful, but the theme, our story so sad. We have lost Paradize, to gain ‘individuality’ and the “I AM”.
LOVE to all,
THELMA

I simply love this inspired picture! Thank you dear Paulo for posting it!
The angels under the form of butterflies take care of the Great Goddess, the Mother of the Universes, how lovely and delicate their gestures of love and protection are! :-)

Lots of hugs and many smiles! :-)
