Any unusual hobbies we should know about?
I travel constantly so days are never the same. I can’t pinpoint “unusual hobbies” but nevertheless I do have some “rituals”: when I wake up I like having my breakfast and then going out for a walk. Walking for me is vital and the one things that I can’t live without.
I agree with the teachings of the Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh, who said that: “when you walk, you are massaging and honouring the earth. In the same way, the earth is trying to help you to balance your organism and mind. Understand this relationship and try to respect it – may your steps have the firmness of a lion, the elegance of a tiger and the dignity of an emperor.”
Normally in the afternoons I spend hours navigating the web: I consult my blog (www.paulocoelhoblog.com), my myspace (www.myspace.com/paulocoelho) I read newspapers from the world, I write my stories. I also quite often give interviews. At 6 pm on the dot, I pray since for me this is the magical hour of the day. After that, I like having diner with my wife & friends. Before going to bed, I read.

The simplest pleasure in life are the greatest among all. A man who can enjoy those things understand something that is even beyond his own understanding. After a walk I always feel better: If I had something I was struggling with, may be I am not totally clear about it but I have a better idea about the decision to make.
I agree and share the simplest pleasure in love your you. They bring joy and deep comfort for ones soul
even though we must live under a couple of rutins in order to live or lifes i hate them… so everyday i try to do something different…i do have hobbies but there is one that is the one that is moving my world right now and that is Rock Climbing… i do have other hobbies such as reading, sleeping or cooking. but i besides rock climbing there’s another hobbie i enjoy a lot and that i invite you to practice: to watch people, sometimes we don’t need to talk or face an experience or a person to learn something about them, the world or ourselves; watching people, their behaviour, their faces and reactions might show us things we didn’t know.
And finally i have another hobbie that i hope you don’t take it the wrong way. A few years ago after the first of your book came to me (just when i needed it) i decide to change my life and i accepted to live loving something that i kind of did but i was not sure if i was right or wrong. (i’ll tell you people that story another day).
The point is that one of my unusual hobbies is to flirt. i don’t practice it that often but i love to experience all those stages we pass trough when we flirt or when we feel attracted to somebody. how our senses battle inside of us, how our brains process every move, every word, how we look, smile and even talk it’s a amazing and for me that i love the perfection of us as human beings is an incomparable experience.
am i crazy?
its been natural to ignore the mundane things we do in day to day life.Think of situation where in one does pay his all attentions towards it! will it be called as abnormal behavior?
What do you think, George Boban, can you give me an answer to your question? I think many of us are “crazy” in their own way. Every man and woman are born with gifts which they use to make more magic on the earth. We are not alone in this universe.
Bow and arrow shooting is quite unusual in a modern world.
Watching people eye to eye. looking at them when they say something. people say this is weird but by this way you can feel exactly what they feel. because uknow what is good about education, it makes people less or more like each other , and you can easily catch the emotions. give a try.
I have a request, start a short story competition(wrong word actually). let find who is god gifted in putting the words is better way.
Dear Paulo Coelho, I like the way you present yourself as an ordinary person, but we all know that the’way’ we look into things and our actions and re-actions make the difference.
As for walking, it seems that women are only able to walk for hours and never getting tired, if we only go for….shopping or we are searching for a new dress!! [I speak, of course, for myself] and these for your eyes only!!
LOVE,
THELMA
