Thank you, Wanbliska- so much detail.

I read it as the inherent dichotomy, dark and light in any situation- even any person.

But there is so much more.

Thank you dear Thelma. This is just knowledge indeed, I would gratefully exchange with my half to be besides me. :)

And today, I learned that the Philosophic Stone deals with mercury and sulfur; not with iron and copper. Anyway, the red could refer to cinebra we talked about earlier in life…

Have a very nice day, ma belle.

Thinking “in the devil” is quite reductive here. But indeed the snake could be seen as a daemon. Each on one’s sight through it. Came to be depicted as a bad symbol until the Genesis. Nevertheless, it could represent the water and earth, as it could move through both. In some beliefs, it also symbolizes regeneration, trough the different cycles of our life; could be enlightened or darkened. but many other points of view…

Here the character is depicted in the sky sustained by a crescent moon. Notice it’s not as a dome, that could support him, but merely a smelter on which the character could find an equilibrium.
Indeed a crescent could be movable, though moon reached it. The character’s not on earth, nor in the sky, but dependant to feminine transformation of the moon. It is said that She has to die three days each moony month, and appear very brightly then. But moon got that might, men has to deserve by their work; in the case they simply pay attention to it.

The background is divided in different parts: first, the flat mountain, as end of paganism; you taught us. Green figures of nature, and fertility. Secondly pink couloured cloud as flesh, love, purity and fidelity. Then light blue appears, but again associated with smoke’s sky. Finally we discover black-grey clouds, and deep blue striped sky; for a very little part…
From each both of the character is, on the left the 13th phases of the moon, and on the right the raven, that could symbolize the messager ready to carry away or back messages. It sounds also like having access to some secret ideas. But also obscure minds.
The being in the middle got its down body flying in the pink colours, that may mean that part of the body could be subjected to regenerative dew. Though the up-body could deal with the light blue sky; wisdom, force and courage.
As for the personage, whereas colours around are softly, is depicted as vive, verily dark ones. Anyway, this is like this, behind the curtain.

In human being hemoglobine’s blood permits to red globules to transport dioxygen. Iron is helping in. Its true colour is silvery-white, and only rust could tend to bring to that red colour. Which means that an oxydation has occured. Humidity is for the best part, iron’s oxydized. Aliments contain iron in infinitesis, as mineral salts our body need to live.
Woman are told to be really dependant from the moon phasis, through their menses, as for iron contribution through their body. That’s the reason why they could pass from a lover state to a miffed one, very fastly within a month. because of a lack of.
As for copper, -maybe the first discovered metal-, is getting oxydation in blue green colour, and can refers to the liver. It’s funny that Liver is told “faith” in french, and that “Fe”, for its spanish signification, is iron’s symbol. Also, in some beliefs, the liver is a point that contains the Whole, attained by far inward faith.

The two half parts are crowned and winged despite their oxydation, that may mean that it could go through a “negrido” to a white-oeuvre, and vice versa. For in that drawing, moon is shown as ascending, it is maybe from dark to white…
The personage has the choice to use the snake’s knowledge to reach the head and stop its incarnation. As iron has to pass by the red to get the blue, as one goes along, to the white. White heat as an icy mutation, who could tell. This ice in fire.

Red is also the colour of Mars. Blue, this of Venus. Some ancient tales tell Venus usurped Mars’place, that destroyed life on it, to create it on Earth. Mars is the war, venus is Love. Sex is only embodied by colours and “rhombs” or empty lines on the snakes. Love’s expression is absent from the body.
Anyway, the character is too exalted. From a dark-blue-green mood that however receives inspiration, that permit to break the cycles of resumption, to a red one that could mix injustice with force, true love for heart’s colonization, wisdom by conquest. Why here the snake are not in balance position.

The left has no red nor blue snakes, and holds a white one in his hand, whose head is not anymore linking to the tail.
That heart’s part has the possibility to enter into transes that make happy, thanks to the smile on her face. But this not pink, and placed in obscure side, as for the raven. Sometimes, the snake figures with isotropic things men use to reach transes, in order to know secret know-how, involving oxydation by habit.
The right part is holding a golden vase with three straight snakes. Its gesture as the Hermit’s lamp. Is the smelter with that he could mutate his state to gold. May represent the philosopher’s stone, by finding the balance between red and blue through white, helped by the knowledge of the snake’s actions, reactions, cycles.
The right’s face looks angry, and that’s true that its beard accounts for virility and wisdom. Maybe he does not manage to find the good demonstration.

And it has been shown in the past, that denying a part for another has always conduct the humans to exagerate the power of light; mixing bad with dark. or the opposite. That sadly, but compulsorily lead to obscurantism, and the ordeal, as an example. Human beings that stray from the inner loving belief, because all is passing through knowledge and brain. Though, we need both parts in harmony to succeed. We need to work on them, instead of ignoring them. We need to transmute, better than throwing back what fear us, whilst laying in each of us.
That’s why, this could also depict a triumvirat, as in the past, with blue, white and red.

Thank’s Thelma. It’s seems that I’m not really wrong when I think in the devil.

It is the Hermes Trismegistos, the Alchemist’s key, a Masonic symbol, the number 13 on the tree symbol of evil, the Serpent the symbol of Wisdom [Gnosis], the Dark side of the Moon, the crow symbol of black magic and the Holy Grail of the Last Supper.

Thelma

Uau… I don’t know what’s a Arqueometro but the first thing what I just remember it’s the card of the car(VII) of the Tarot… each horse goes for a opposite side and one is red and the other is blue…
I also think in the Devil’s card (XV)and in the sensation of double intent that’s always give me that figure…
