At times in my life, I may have considered the island to be a lonely place...a place of seclusion...
But now I see it as a happy place to discover and explore new things...
I see myself as having set sail on a new adventure...excited about
what is ahead of me...
I have a sense of hopeful anticipation...
In the past I have so afraid that I would not venture out of my comfort zone...
But I am finally ready to set said on this new adventure...
And, of course, writing is part of it all...
Of course...
What awaits me on this part of my journey? What awaits me on the beautiful islands in the sea? What new things will I learn about myself? What new people will I meet?
I do not know the answer to any of these questions...
But that is part of the excitement and part of the venture...
Let's go...

I just understand the meaning of that now. I didn't before. I am a slow learner. I am learning to swim.... one stroke at a time and asking for help.. when my head goes under water.... The colour is pale blue

«Island» on russian is «ostrov».
To me it is recollected film of Pavel Lungin “The Island” http://www.ostrov-film.ru/
Island is spirituality reserve. Source pure, untouched beliefs – Solovetsky islands “Solovky”.
When round it people will wallow in disbelief, it will give to drink their thirst of true.
But also the film is recollected “The Island of Dr. Moreau”, where there live semipeople-semianimals.

The Island is for me this place where there exists an answer. If I can reach the Island then I have the answer. We need to examine the metaphor. Once, many years ago, I thought by going to the Island in the physical sense (believe me it was really beautiful) I would find what it was I was looking for. Instead of the obvious experiences that I was expecting it was a very tough task and at times unbearable. You see, there are all sorts of things that we do not anticipate on the island and that we are not prepared for. Let me explain....there are the beautiful underwater reefs to explore in the morning and the electric storms that serve as our entertainment in the late afternoon, early evening - well that's the time for the flying squirrels to fly from tree to tree across the tip of the ocean. At night its time for the hungry rats. Rats everywhere. Sometimes even on your chest looking at you while you sleep.... I soon realised that the island would be unattainable (at least for now) The most awesome aspect of this riddle (for me), is that the boat is the oldest form of transport that exists to this day and we can access this at will. We have the tools to reach the Island and to leave the Island and to search for another. This is my Island.

The place that I see right between my eyes, straight through the middle, smack dab in the center...some call this the third eye, but this sacred place is where I go to connect with my higher, or future self. I see myself in white, and the wind is whirling, making a splendid song as it breathes past my face gently. The waves move back and forth, almost as background noise would, not to disturb, but to create a wonderful stillness, and then it sweeps across my feet, through my toes, reminding me of it's magnificence. My Island is a sanctuary where I am never alone, nor trapped...but perfectly at peace, still and at one with all that is wonderful.

Love,
Kamania

Several years ago, while visiting Hawaii, I found myself in an area called 'a place of refuge'. It was a place where in the past people of the islands escaped to, and while they were there they could not be persecuted or punished. It was a very peaceful place surrounded by the sea and the energy was magical. It became a symbol for me, so now I call my home 'a place of refuge' a place where people can come and be safe. I try to extend 'a place of refuge' to be wherever I am.

Right now, I associate an island to my soul.

As life brings me to another drama of wether I should follow my heart or do what is supposed to be right --it has been a mixture of tranquility and chaos, remoteness yet within reach, contentment and unhappiness, mystery and honesty, beautiful and free and restricted fantasies.

Once again, I find myself stranded and lost on that island hoping against hope that somewhere amidst the barren beauty is a light to finding my way to where i should truly belong.

Once again, I find myself stranded and lost on that island hoping against hope that somewhere amidst the barren beauty is a light to finding my way to where i should truly belong.

For me an island stands for lonliness.....and one can be an island even in the midst of everything - the sheild you build around you (much like the water) cuts you off from memories, people and pain....and protects you....you pay for it by the lonliness it brings.

Island is somewhere, you can spend a private time alone or with some dear one.Or someone can be deserted in an Island. Whatever your mood or situation is but 'Island' is something with great picturesque beauty, surrounded by blue water all around it,has white sand and some strewn green bushes....shrubs.Has an untidy half broken dark brown coloured hut. Some wooden shank to set on fire.A big tree just at the edge of the blue water from which a dangle hangs down.Island is beautiful and it symbolizes a charming solitude.

Hi Thelma,

There is overwhelming evidence which proves that Pandora (Anesidora) was the sender of gifts not evils.

"For thousands of years before the classical myths were recorded by Hesiod and Homer, the Goddess was the focus of religion and Culture"

Hesiod the poet wrote the poem Theogany, much much later, (he also had shockingly very low regard to women ).

Wikipedia has a very incisive article on this. I also can recommend the book Lost Goddesses of Early Greece by Charlene Spretnak whose quote is shown above, which traces the pre-hellenic Goddesses. Gaia, Pandora, Themis, Aphrodite, Artemis, Selene Hecate, Hera, Athena, Demeter and Persephone.

You are correct, Venus resides in my 2nd house right in the middle of Libra, her ruler.

(I also heard Madame Butterfly whilst dining on the harbour at Paphos recently, sounded wonderful).

I had a very strong past life connection with Crete, when I visited Knossos with my friends, I knew instinctually where everything was and what it was used for as I had, had a powerful dream a few months earlier! Each time I go to a new Greek Island I learn something knew about its mythology and the energy of the Gods and Goddesses, it isn't enough for me just to read about them.

I first met Islands, reading Lord of the Flies, a story about how a group of nice young boys turned into savages when they were stranded on a deserted island.

A visit to the Island Rhode, in fantastic Greece, gave everything Paulo mentions, being a very spiritual place. I spent an entire day on a Vespa, following the one road that takes you all the way around Rhode. We climbed the ancient Acropolis, we met Orthodox priest dressed in long black robe, and old people sitting outside on benches, just being alive. We entered a butterfly valley and could rest on a beach all alone, with nobody else disturbing the peace. The atmosphere was like something you never want to leave ever.

My third experience with an Island, was living one year in Ireland. And yes, I met a deep spirituality in these ancestors of the Celtics. One day we did a pilgrimage to Knock, a small Irish town, which had an apparition in the beginning of our century. Around the place there were sign posts up stating; "Silence". I always appreciated being present with others in silence. And the busy, jolly Irish people, always lift your spirit up!

Yes you have let out all the evils but you left...HOPE, for all of us!!
You said the other day that you have had 'past life' memories..maybe you have been Greek or...Cypriot.

Dear Thelma

I actually did think to contact you before I went, but now I have an invitation next time I journey there (which hopefully won't be too long) I most definitely will.

I missed the sanctuary of Aphrodite, and she is a Goddess close to my heart and strongly in my chart, although I did visit her Baths near Polis which was truely magical.

Greek myths are very important to me, being born with my name. Having been told that I let out all the evils of the world (if only I had a £1 for everytime), I have studied them carefully.

People say I look Greek or Spanish, which I am not, but maybe some blood somewhere, definitely in my soul.

Thank you
