Very good information indeed. This ancient Celtic symbol will inspire my inner goddess to manifest my destiny as I enter into my Wise One phase. All I have experienced has been training for what I am about to do.
I really like this particular triskele. Can I use it in a non-profit newsletter, or is it copywrited?
Sorry for ask, but I really love this image, and I don’t know what it means, so if someone could explain to me, I’d be thankful !Thx
Tattoos speak a language of your heart. They bring out your feelings and way of life. You can use your tattoo designs as a mode of expression. Many people use tattoos to communicate various things, necessarily their personality. Some also use them to express love and emotions.
My dear/est Annie, Yes you … insist on asking and thinking about Initiation of Witches!
I do not like the term/name Witch! I think of an ugly, old woman on a broom-stick!! ;]
I prefer the idea of ..Fairy or Goddess of LOVE!
LOVE,
Thelma
I am a MacGregor from the Clan Gregor of Highland Scots. The name you say you do not like means “WISE ONE,” there is a story relates to that symbal that you have posted, of which you should know of befor you spurn such a name. About 400 years ago, a man named Angus MacCloud, his wife, and three children left thier home in what is now known as Harris on the west coast of Scotland, to visit kin on the Isle of Lewis. When they arrived and disenbarked the boat they were met by and taken to Angus’s cousins’ home where they had grand affair, and then it was off to bed. The next day, Angus awoke to find his cousin entertaining; yet, another guest. Twas an old crone of a woman, with unfair complection; more over, just plain unsightly.
The woman had visted and was on her way out, when Angus had made chuckling wispers of unkindly remarks about her to his cousin. Well, that night whilst Angus was sleeping he was awoke from a strange dream, only to find himself face-to-face with the croned woman. She was speaking to him words of which he could not hear, and when he wiped the sleep sand from his eyes, she was gone! At that, he decided it was best that his family return home that morning, but as they boarded the boat, an un-natural un-sailable gail wind forced them to stay at port. For three days they tryed, but to no avail. Twas then that Angus told his cousin what had happend betwixt he and the crone.
His cousin took him to the village “Wise One” or Witch. This woman was the very picture of grace and beauty. With out mention she knew Angus’s plight and took a lock from her hair. In this lock of beautiful black hair, she tied three whitches knots. She told him that he must keep it with him, and he shall be able to make sail. She also told him that if he wished, he could untie all but one of the knots to gain speed of wind; how ever, if he untied the third knot, disaster would follow. So with the talismen, Angus and his family where on thier way.
Angus was very pleased, but curious as well, so he untied the first knot, and as the witch promised the wind picked up. At this, Angus untied the second knot, with which a strong head wind gave them smart speed. By this time he had forgotten the warning about the third knot and untied it, the the beautiful witch appeared befor him, yet right befor him she changed form back to the crone. Just then three rouge tidal waves hit the boat in succession. The last wave threw the boat, wife, and children back to the main land, but Angus was never seen again! Some of the timbers from that same boat have been preserved to tell the story of why you should treat old Crones with kindness!
I know I’m late posting this, but….
The triskel symbol in the middle is actually a symbol carved in the center chamber of Newgrange, a burial chamber in Ireland that originates from 3000 B.C. Similar single whorl (spiral) symbols are carved on the outer stones of the chamber and in many other places in Ireland. The symbol is of unknown meaning, although many people have given new meanings to it throughout the years, both Christian and Pagan in origin. That being said, I believe that any symbol’s meaning is specific to the viewer. If this symbol calls to you then whatever meaning you attribute to it is correct. (just as a side note the triskle symbol has been a personal symbol to me for years.)
At Last, Some one understand’s
Arising Sun at the dawn of New Age! Seems like there is enough positive energy in this world, people ready to reconnect themselves with the roots of all humankind, that are deep inside of Mother Earth!
I am glad that we have come to realise that there is ONE GOD that exists in every man, tree, flower, fish, bee, eagle,in every living thing in this world… And that we shouldn`t worship Him, because He is not in some outer world, apart from us! He is with us in any step that we make on the Path of our Personal Legend, with all the Universe conspiring to help us, and he is in every stone or a rock that trips us along that Path, when we want to come off it!
We should LIVE with Him, by fulfilling our dream we`ll become His dream, enjoy all the possibilties that are given to us by birth from Him. REACH GOD IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH! LOVE!
Beijos,
Mari Raphael.
Thank you all. My Grandmother and my mother believed in the ‘evil eye’. I used to tease them for being superstitious. After I have read metaphysical books and becoming wiser, I think that everything exists in Nature. Then, although, I believe in destiny I respect the ‘forces’and ‘elementals’. I have also learned that in order to be affected by those ‘bad elementals’ one must be in the same vibration. In order to be protected, in different cultures and religions, the Magus/Witch/Priests/Religions have offered to us different techniques, visualizations, talismans and prayers.

The poem is quite good enough by itself, it doesn’t need the threats of doom and disaster. If people merited it, they would forward it on without the fear of something awlful happening to them don’t you think?
I think these threats destroy any sense of wisdom that the poem may bring, so if it ever comes to me, its going in Junk.

Sorry Thelma and Satora, but for having lived in Brittany, I could tell you this symbol is celtic, before being Wicca.
But I’d be happy you’d demonstrate the opposite to me. Wicca is a movement created in the XXth century, melting many beliefs, and poof poof! Not the same. Even if they seem to know how to melt sulfur and herbs…
For me Wicca is to Merlin, what the catholic church is for Jesus. You see?
And celtic history comes from the megalithic, maybe more ancient than Wicca…
Have all a great journey.
I have learned about the druids priest, but that symbol never have seen before now.Is simillar to chinese mandalas.
Read Alone….. especially the Poem
I believe whatever is in store for
us will be for us.
The poem is very true, unfortunately.
Make sure you read the poem!
CASE 1: Kelly Sedey had one wish,
for her boyfriend of three years,
David Marsden, to propose to her.
Then one day when she was out
to lunch David proposed!
She accepted, but then had to leave
because she had a meeting in 20 min.
When she got to her office,
she noticed on her computer she had some e-mail’s.
She checked it, the usual stuff
from her friends, but then she saw one
that she had never gotten before.
It was this poem. She simply deleted it
without even reading all of it.
BIG MISTAKE! Later that evening,
she received a phone call from the police
It was about DAVID! He had been in an accident
with an 18 wheeler. He didn’t survive!
CASE 2: Take Katie Robinson She received this poem
and being the believer that she was
she sent it to a few of her friends but
didn’t have enough e-mail addresses to send out
the full 5 that you must.
Three days later, Katie went to a masquerade ball.
Later that night when she left to get to her car,
she was killed in that spot by a
hit-and-run drunk driver.
CASE 3: Richard S. Willis sent this poem out
within 45 minutes of reading it.
Not even 4 hours later walking along the street
to his new job interview with a really big company, !
when he ran into Cynthia Bell,
his secret love for 5 years. Cynthia came up to him
and told him of her passionate crush on him
that she had had for 2 years.
Three days later, he proposed to her and they got married.
Cynthia and Richard are still married
with three children, happy as ever!
This is the poem:
Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.
And I never see my old friends face,
For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well,
As in the days when I rang his bell.
And he rang mine but we were younger then,
And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
‘Tomorrow’ I say! ‘I will call on Jim
Just to show that I’m thinking of him.’
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,
And distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner, yet miles away,
‘Here’s a telegram sir,’ ‘Jimdied today.’
And that’s what we get and deserve in the end.
Around the corner, a vanished friend.
Remember to always say what you mean.
If you love someone, tell them.
Don’t be afraid to express yourself.
Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you.
Because when you decide that it is the right time it might
be too late.
Seize the day. Never have regrets.
And most importantly, stay close to your friends
and family, for they have helped
make you the person that you are today.
You must send this on in 3 hours after reading the letter
to 10 other people.
If you do this, you will receive unbelievably good luck.
*NOTE*
the more people that you send this to, the better
luck you will have.
SMILE,
even through your tears!!!!!
Oh Paulo why did you choose this symbol?
I guess the mystery lies in the detail of the triskele.
The triskele which symbolizes the Druidic Threefold Sister Goddess: Fotla/Eiru/Banba and in Wicca the Threefold Mother Goddess: Maiden/Mother/Crone phases of life or the three phases of the Moon is counter clockwise and NOT clockwise as in this image.
What we have here is Mr. & Mrs. Frost’s Celtic Wicca Church (Baptist Wicca) and their symbol. They focus mainly on the “MALE” aspect of deity worship and I guess under peer group pressure had to introduce the “FEMALE” aspect (Goddess).
*The Frosts call their tradition of Wicca Celtic. To me it seems more of a mixture of high magic and eclectic Wicca, with a smattering of Celtic thrown in. For instance, they use three circles, one within the others, made of salt, sulphur and herbs with runes and symbols between them instead of just one circle. They also insist on a white- handled athame and will not have a black handled one, whereas all the other traditions I have heard or read about use a black handled one. It seems to me the Wicca they practice and teach should not be called Celtic at all; but since a lot of it is made up or put together by them from other traditions they should also give it a made-up name; say Frostism. If you DON’T have to pay for the course, and have some extra time, it would probably be worth reading just for comparison. [*From Circe, who took their correspondence course.] http://www.pagans.org/wicca/branches/branches.html
If you really want to know something about the Celtic Wisdom, I recommend “Anam Cara” A book of Celtic Wisdom by John O’Donohue.

The name of Bridas mistress.
I wear a Germanic rune as a talisman – mannaz.
I have just searched in the internet and found that this is a symbol of Wicca, the Goddess of the Earth. This symbol is also associated with the five pointed star, the symbol of Man, into the material world. The four Elements plus the Spirit.
Then I wonder since the one point shows upwards is the symbol of Man into matter, why the two points showing upwards symbolize Evil?
Since we all understand Love and Good, why there are people who seek to fulfil their dreams through witchcraft and ‘black’magic? Is then the power of will and imagination black magic?

THELMA
Never, I noticed a triskell was as a mandala. Celtics were polytheists, and considered many beliefs under the number 3.
It is fair, as in celtic dances, it turns to the right. I loved to dance in Brittany, though, at long, it hurt my little finger.
Firstly, I don’t think it’s bound to the trinity, from catholic church. Because during megalithic period, we could find some. At this state, not that their knowledge was limited, the opposite, but they had Gods and Godesses, and as many tribes from the world, represented all in a circle. Later, we could find the circle on celtic crosses.
Celtics represented all the nature’s manifestations: seasons and winds, colors and movements, animals, trees and plants…they used to put in a ring, or as totems. Those served as book of shells, amulets or charms. Another life in sum… :)
One needs three circles to understand the aerial and earthling characters of the Divine. Though it seems to miss something here. If they are so attached to the three, why only two forms?
Then, the Triskell (three rays in breton) certainly married with christianity, for also associated to the sun, the movement of life. As in many cultures finally.
Searching here and there, I found it could symbolise the waking, sleep and dream, but also:
* Abred : tangible world (whose body, flesh, the mortal)
* Gwenved : the world where souls go through, before their re-birth.
* Keugant : the Divine world, height of the perfection, but to which souls (and bodies) have no reach. * French wiki
Interesting. No souls nor bodies in the kingdom. Well.
Last week, I learnt that the two opposite faces of a die make always 7. 7 skies, la menorah, Archangels from Henoch, fingers of the hand, no. Just to see if you follow.
How many times have I play dice, without noting? Or maybe I did but that was so obvious…
Here we have 7 interlaces. Though the upline goes to the right. Yet, we couldn’t define the sense of the walk. It could symbolise the infinite, towards wars and victories. Like a die, we couldn’t know which number is about to appear. As in life, where repetitions may be good advices.
In many cultures is that idea to unravel the intrigues of our lifes, to reach a supreme being, associated with a wheel mechanism.
Neverending line, just as in so many other cultures and ornaments it reminds me of Croatian Pleter, lines that interwinds in neverending movement.
The circle, no beginning, no end, time out of time.
The three dancing legs, a trinity, maiden, mother and crone; the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit;
Self:
Needs Perceptions
Imagining Space
Feeling Time
This Celtic Symbol holds all the information we need to mainifest our reality.
If I should ever have a tattoo it would be of a Celtic ornament.
