One of the consolations I have in life is knowing that God not only owns my future.. but also the whole of me.

Thanks, Jessica!

Dear Peregrina Mom,
Your post reminds me of a sign that sits atop a hill beside a church in the small town nearby where I live. The sign reads:

“If God is your co-pilot,
quick – change seats!”

Thanks for sharing your wonderful life-story.

Love,
Savita

Prophesy is a gift from God to people, to keep it in our hearts, for hope in trying times. It is also a relief for the pain we may experience, the Light that is coming after the darkest night. The Resurrection after death. John’s Apocalypse, Revelation.
In our journey sometimes we may be able to have a glimpse under the veil, the future. I think that this is a divine way of help or a sign for us to remember our real Home, Heaven.
LOVE,
THELMA

Dear Mr. Coelho,

I always thought that if I knew something about the future my present would be better. Wrong attitude to have… for where the mind goes, man/woman follows… I was so concerned about the future, that I forgot to live the day, the moment I had in front of me…. merely going through the motions waiting .. neither here nor there.

I so wanted to control my world that I thought of God as my co-pilot… and would get frustrated getting lost in the highways of life without direction… When the whisper of God would come in my soul rather than listen, I would just tell it to shut up as if I knew better….. finally getting so fed up, I said “So, you think you know better God? Fine! You drive god dammit!”….. and he took the wheel of my life allowing me to enjoy the present moment and all the blessings it brings into my life……

What road will God take me on tomorrow? I have no idea but I do know that he will take me to where I need to be…. as I trust him today to have me where I am, where he wants me to be, enjoying what I have, who I am with while being embraced by his wisdom, grace and love.

Oh yes, and the maps and GPS I used before to know where to go? Gone….. I am a happy passenger now and enjoying the ride of life one day at a time….

Love……… always and in ALL ways.

Dear Jessica.
I think it’s great you brought that up. I believe in karma too, and so often in life our karma throws us into unexpected situations, allowing us unforeseen opportunities to grow.

The funny thing is – and this may sound a little strange without lengthy explanation – but I don’t see any contradiction at all between free will and karma. As a spiritual teacher of mine used to say: “You are the architect of your destiny.” The present situation may come to you as a result of past actions – that is karma – BUT, your future situations and circumstances in life are determined by how you deal with the situation at hand. Future karma is always being shaped by present action and attitude. Thus, no matter how seemingly tragic or oppressive our current circumstances may be, there is always free will. Though we may not be able to change the circumstances themselves, we are free to decide how we will react to them and what we will make of them – how we will utilize the resources we are given.

Think, for example, of someone who is imprisoned in a POW camp for months, or perhaps even years, and yet somehow emerges from the experience with a sense of inner serenity, an attitude of triumph. Meanwhile, think of another person who suddenly comes into great “good fortune” financially, and yet uses these resources only to enhance their own sensual pleasures, never stopping to think of helping others less fortunate, and perhaps even ending their own life in a tidal wave of debauchery. Free will. We may not be able to alter the circumstances themselves, but we have the freedom to decide what we will do with the situation and resources we are given to work with. If our choices are wise ones, we shall enhance our “spiritual bank account,” our “karmic” repository. If not, we’ll end up spiritually “bankrupt.”

Don’t take this as written in stone, however – these are just my personal views. I don’t mean to impose them on anyone else. I just love the topics that come up on this blog.

I do so enjoy reading everyone’s comments!

Savita

I had plenty of ocasions to experience it.Many times I desired a specific item or thing, and if I couldnt reach it I was sad.But after some time I realized that was for my best, because happened better thing to me,instead of the thing I desired. So,always we must trust God,and faith. One never know how is the better.

Our impatience often try to push the Lord to let us know about the future right away. Perhaps this is why people spend hundreds of millions on calling up, or visiting fortune tellers. A Norwegian state representatives had to resign for spending her office phone for fortune tellers services. Some suggest she is addicted to it. Changes can be so scary we cannot stand it. They shake up our life and our whole existence. Yes, I believe God’s plans often are radical and revolutionary, to the point where we are asked to get out of the boat and ‘…walking on the sea…’ (Mt14.26).

So true…. I read Tarot cards, and often people come to me expecting me to tell them the future. Before I ever begin a reading, I explain to them that I’m not a “fortune teller.” They start out with a question like, “What is going to happen in such-and-such area of my life,” or “what will tomorrow bring in this or that endeavor I’ve undertaken?” I work with them to re-phrase their questions – to redirect their attention to the present moment. The cards are simply like a mirror I hold up to them to show them the secrets their own soul harbors in the here-and-now, or like a magnifying glass to show them the subtle energies present in a given situation. I don’t delve into the future, and I try to direct them away from it as well, to keep them focused on the “now” and what they can do in the present moment, because the present is the only place where we have free will. We cannot act in the future, because the future is not here yet; it is merely an idea. And we cannot act upon the past because the past is already closed to us. We have only this moment, and what comes to us in this moment, to work with.

Reading Tarot, in this sense, is a little like being a swim instructor. People come to you and you wade into this river with them to teach them to swim, and they immediately start asking you questions about the river, not about the way the river is here – how deep it is, or how wide, or how swift – but how it looks up-steam or what form it takes further down-stream. “Well,” I have to say, “you can’t swim up there or down there, because here is where we are! You have to learn to swim here.”
