The inscription:
“Ipse dixit, et facta sunt: ipse mandávit, et creáta sunt.”
(For he spake and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.)
which is from Psalm 33:
…For the word of the Lord holds true,
and we can trust everything he does.
He loves whatever is just and good;
the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth.
The Lord merely spoke,
and the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
and all the stars were born.
He assigned the sea its boundaries
and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs.
Let the whole world fear the Lord,
and let everyone stand in awe of him.
For when he spoke, the world began!
It appeared at his command.
The Lord frustrates the plans of the nations
and thwarts all their schemes.
But the Lord’s plans stand firm forever;
his intentions can never be shaken….
In other words, what Bosch meant to infer: “Maktub!”
I like the 2 halves coming together to form the whole picture .

The Triptych [is a Greek word meaning three folds]

Honestly, I found this picture rather frustrating. I knew it instantaneously, knew what was to be found within those doors as well, but there was this moment of anticipation, of thinking,”Just maybe….” and in thinking that, I just couldn’t resist the temptation: I moved my cursor to the center of the frame and “click”… “click,” but no, the doors did not open.
Ah, well! It was worth the try. After all, who knows what might be possible in this magical cyber-realm we inhabit. It isn’t so far fetched to think that one might tap on a closed door and it might open, to reveal… to reveal….
Mmm… It has been a long time – let’s see if I can remember what lies behind those doors: if we turn to the right, a scorching Hell, to the left, a Heaven too ethereal to touch, but if we walk the path straight down the center: a pure pleasure garden, the wonders of which are too tantalizing to tell. At the sheer thought, bird-blood leaps within my veins!

I wonder if this painting is supposed to be the opposite of the Garden of Eden? This Grey, Blue, Black front picture illustrating creation, opens to the much more colorful Garden of Earthly Delights, probably picturing after the Fall of man?
That’s actually Bosch’s painting ‘Creation of the World ‘, though you can see ‘The Garden of Earhly Delights’ at this URL http://www.artinthepicture.com/artists/Hieronymus_Bosch/earthly_delights.jpeg
I like very much Bosco di Balduc, how Guicciardini called him,but I didn’t know this.
is it in Berlin?
