Dear Mr. Coelho,

I am a 22 year old lady and I have been reading your books since I was about 15. It has taken me too long to realize that I should offer you my poetry in return, as thanks. Please enjoy them.

Dear Paulo,
You are more than "pirate" - you are a true "pioneer." You are out there taking the risks, raising the challenges and fighting the battles that will serve to shape the publishing industry in the future. What will the book become? What shape will it ultimately take in this new age of the internet? Who knows? But whatever form it may eventually assume, you are out there raising the questions that matter - questions regarding the writer's relationship to the reader, the reader's role in this new interactive environment....and so much more.

Overall, I think you have hit upon a universal truth - a truth which precedes and transcends the laws of the capitalist marketplace - and that is simply: THE MORE YOU GIVE, THE MORE YOU RECEIVE. This is a period of decision-making, a time of choices for all who are a part of this industry. It is the classical division of the sheep from the goats. Those who choose to be on the side of greed, who choose to be contracted rather than prodigal, will inevitably reap the returns of avarice.

I understand, too, that writers, as well as publishers, want to and must make a living from the books printed. But I can only say this: I was taught that, if I wanted to be a writer, I would have to stand over my work and guard it, like a dog guarding a bone: never let it out of my hands, never share it with anyone for free. That lesson, which I, at the time, took deeply into myself, was a violence done to my very soul. In fact, I think it robbed me, eventually, of my entire desire to write. Since I have encountered your blog, I see a whole new way of being a writer in the world - a way of openness and love, of nurturing and sharing. This example - this new lesson - makes my heart sing. It just feels right.

Thank you for being a guiding light!

Sincerely,
Savita

Thank you Paulo for sharing your speech with us here on the Internet.

It has the great advantage of hearing your message, even if we're not physically there. It is so important!

I think you are absolutely right. The book has a totally different approach from other forms of media like music or film. If anything else, the sales of books have soared in recent years. More people read now than ever before. It's thanks to the publicity of articles posted for free on the Internet, and extracts made available to reveal talent.

It's such an inspiration. The books will never die.

Paulo, do you have a schedule for the next days during the book fair? I want to know how I can meet you in person!
My comment: I believe the same way doctor's should live for the lifes of other people I also think writers should live for the happiness of other people, and not for money. Anyways, any reader who appreciates an author will always buy his books/officially download it, as long as they can afford it!

for your last subject
Human beings are usually taking care of those things that have strong influence on their life or those things that give meaning to their life. So about surviving the books first you should consider this fact that how much those books affect people and second, how much they are depending on time and present situation. If you look back to successful article they talked about something that it will be always part of human life such as relation, love, morality, social life, philosophy, psychology, etc. Those things will be always there in front of our eyes and we live with them every moment. And depend how much you talk out of time boundaries then you will be independent of time. I road few of your books and there is good connection between writer and reader in them. Sometimes I think you speak a language of many people in present life. Even you have strong affect on people now but people will get board very soon with this kind of talk. Only way to make them to follow your literary works is, put them in situation that they try to think more rather than have the answer. Because when people have final conclusion then that income will die in their memory forever. So you should give them answer they should come up with it but you can make the road narrower for them to not get lost in subject either….

I want to write more, but I should go to work, for now!

So you should give them answer they should come up with it but you can make the road narrower for them to not get lost in subject either….
