How do you see your role as a United Nations Messenger of Peace?
I would say that the type of work that I want to develop with the UN would be the one where I would use culture, the last bridge that in my view remains intact in this divided world, to reassemble people. The power of storytelling is exactly this: to bridge the gaps where everything else has crumbled. Because if we still can understand the stories and legend of our neighbor, even if we don’t understand anything else, we will realize that we are not strangers, and we share a lot of values in common.

UNO is a unique experiment, for the first time in history 'cultures' across the globe have come togather to at least 'sit' togather. although we are far away from a world governmnet ( neither such a thing is desirable ! ), cultures at least respond to each other joys and sorrows !
UNO is still a baby step in the direction of a collective consiousness, that is why role of poeple like you is so much more important.
u'r position is like u know what – a baby comes and holds your finger, somehow knowing in its heart that u will be able to guide it to a peaceful exitance. that baby has seen much tragedy, has a brusihsed soul, but it has not lost its hope for peace and prosperity, itself it does not excatly how, so it holds fingers of it's Messangers of Peace. I am sure u are alive to teh gravity of role.
pardon me for repeating nth time, but i am a fool, not knowing much i just say what i see is right, and i have lost patince with knowledge, so let me repeate nth time. the best way u can bring about peace in the world is by introducing individulas to the taste of peace, and the best way to do it would be to introduce an hour of silence in each school college ( not two minutes ). we all hanker about peace, talk of peace, but peace is not that easy to handle, in the beginning; human mind does not wnat peace, it craves for thrills, maintaining even two minues silence becaomes herculean task for it, no !
paulo, thru UNO, this baby world consiousnes is looking at you to deliver, please drop all grand theories and just initiate some baby steps, with the babies in schools ! i will willing to quit my job, leave my family for a period of two years and go wherever u want me to go, deliver whatever u want me to deliver, to achive this simple, clear, tangible goal, introducing a period of silnce of an hour each, at least twice a week in every school of this world. all cultures are varied in their expression, but they are quite united in their silence !

Is exactly the way I am thinking.Happy to see there are many thinking same way.I really think if people would be more open,to search and learn from the right sources,they would realise that there are so many things that are same ,even in relligions,and in those that nowadays seem in contradiction,Nevertheless,we must be simillar due to our human nature.I agree with the theory of Jung,that there is some common culture,intelligency,that we carry with us like a legacy,maybe unaware.
I feel so proud to be in ..communication with you, Paulo Coelho, as a writer, human being, ‘teacher’, Warrior of Light and a .. United Nations Messenger of Peace. You are bringing ..through culture in every corner of the Planet the messege of LOVE, BTOTHERHOOD and PEACE. May the Rulers of the World give you the opportunities to … reach even the smallest and un-important human being, because these are who need you more. Love will show you the way.

Dear Paul,
Once I read lots of your books. Now, I discovered your blog. It tells us the story of the Warrior of Light. Then, you bring this blog entry, about us being divided. Isn’t it because, perhaps, everyone of us is dreaming about becoming that “Warrior”? Or am I missing the point? Against whom the Warrior will conduct he’s fight?
My point is: Is there a message one could carry to help human beings understand they don’t need fight anymore?

You have our support. From all corners of this world. Right here. Right now. We need you. We have waited too much for people like you to take a step forward and to take action. It’s time to do something. Now, by internet, people have met each other, discovered each other, discovered they have common values, even though they are expressed in different languages or different manners (optimistique or sad).
Remember Apostols. They started to share Christianism using different languages, but they share an unique message.
Adam and Eve have had a primary language. We all are the same, sons and daughters of Adam and Eve.We already share the same genes don’t we? We just need visionars to remind us all of these, as we are so busy making money to survive and don’t have time anymore for what is the most important: heart & soul.And we were teached in schools, family and community to make fun of such important things.
Mr.Coelho, we are so many wanting a spiritual revolution. I feel that many of us feel empty, dry and sad, no matter what religion we come from. But we know that we need this change, we look for it, we are now present on your Blog. It doesn’t matter it is just “an other blog” (others may say).We will be wherever you will go, as long as you let us be next to you. Just keep writting. Travel in our countries, meet us, and write about us, to let the world know we do exist and that the HOPE didn’t die in this century.
