Association of the Week : The Crown

The crown often symbolizes the legitimate power of a man, often making him the representative of a superior realm. Placed on the head, the crown dominates the human body, i.e. Matter, and enables man to participate the upper world of heaven.

The circular shape of the crown is a reference to the non-ending circle and its “dented” form is a reminder of the solar rays: kings and emperors are thus the bearers of light in this world.

In the Kabbalah, the Keter crown that is on top of the Sephiroth tree symbolizes En Sof, the Creator, the Infinite Light. In Christianity, the symbol of the crown goes beyond the power of Majesty – it also highlights the superior character of the certain figures such as Mary and martyrs. Indeed in other ancient cultures, such as Ancient India and the China, the crown stands for the transition to a superior level of consciousness.

Now you take the floor: what do you association with the Crown?

  • there are different tipe of crown or it is that in my language (italian) that this the same word has differents meanings.. there is the royal one and when I read the word crown is thw first one that I thought, on the head of a king, queen, prince or princess. and near the crown I had associated a scepter. so these for me are symbols of power. then I thout to the “flowers crown”: the one that are made by flowers , for example given in some oriental peolple to give the welcome and he other one to give in the funeral cermonies. and there is crown of the Rosary, to pray.

Then I thought….what meaning that has…from life to death or death to life is it? When we are birthed, we come in with with a crown! To crown we need to birth!
I thought this has some meaning doesn’t it?
Esoterically, to attain enlightenment or higher consciousness we need to be re-born— the baby in us all is waiting to be birthed and crown….

  • The crown for me is …

    Enlightenment and a higher oonsciousness.

It is meant to be seen as a symbol, that adorns a higher form.

The rays from the crown go up into the spiritual realm that is beyond our understanding but understood as illumination, increased wisdom and understanding of all things.

God is only fit to wear it!!

  • I am trying to find out why the crown had been invented from the begining.

I think the crown had been invented by a short man that wanted to look taller, more powerfull and more fearfull to other men he might fight for food.

Or, Adam might have seen the light around angels heads and body therefore perhaps he wanted to shine also. Anyway, the crown is a sign of illumination, power, distinction and also richness.

  • Ego. It makes some people believe that they achieved something, they can keep it, they’ll never lose it, they’re strong. It gives strength but it’s also fake. When i see words like crown, house or car it reminds me something like this.. they’re good things when they give us strength but we shouldn’t forget about other things neither.. we should be more self-confident without these symbols too…

  • Depends on “how” the crown came to be on the wearers head?
If your followers put it there your a king!
If you put it there your an Ass!
When your children play with other children, introduce a toy crown to the game and witness the competetiveness of who should wear it and why? it is educating, especially when some conspire to “knock it off” the head of the wearer!

  • The first thing that I thought of was Proverbs 12:4

A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.

Considering this true, it is interesting that she is the final seal of who he is. She is the proof of who he is. She is the adornment that shows others what he is. Look at a man’s wife and you know the man. Just looking at the man won’t tell you who he is. She can be a source of greater joy, or his undoing.

If a good wife is like a crown–what does that say about the crown? You tell me!

  • the crown
interesting topic, crown as u said signifies various things in different cultures, but for me it matter of great pride.
crown wearer may or may be not a representative of the people, but still hold high regard in acient world as well as in modern liberal democratic states.crown comes with a immense power, umimaginable liberty, money and above all fame, but it also comes with great responsibility, mayraid pressures from social, economic and culture spheres and here i would like to quote india’s prime minister Dr. Manmohan singh, he said, ” i live in such a house,i sit on such a throne, and i have such immense power that i cant afford to sleep, and since i have become a prime minister, i have not slept well, because i know my one decision can changed billions of life within a fraction of a second”, so cron signifies different means to different people. but finally crown signifies a chance to do some thing better for some one, a chance you cant afford to lose. in a way god is so kind to the crown wearer that he give him/her a chance to change some one’s life for some thing better, which only fortunate people gets.
crown some time difficult to choose between two thing which you love most,it also take test of the wearer, ita always not easy, crown take person test.
so in the end, crown is nothing but a chance to change some thing for better, to lift strata of the society, to challenge ourself every time you wear it.
    take care
    god bless you paulo

Strange to feel already the power.
Good to be aware of the illusion that the ego can give.

Who can wear a crown, who may wear a crown? Is a crown necessary to rule…I don’t know.

I don’t need a crown to be the heart…I give myself faith, hope and love to be the way that is given. I hope that once upon a time…the heart is the crown.

  • History tells me that the crown is a symbol of importance. The crown was something that materialized in order to physically show other people something that was intangible or invisible to the naked eye. For example, power, knowledge, personal/family status in society are all things that cannot be touched but only understood through physical items, especially through something like a crown.

  • The crown symbolises the higher Self and is made out of Gold with 8 pearls. It is a protection against the “animal” It symbolises ying and yang : the total middle. People who wear the crown don’t have an ego. Together with the crown there comes the robe (white cape), which is divine protection too.

And I haven´t weared it for a while, but today I decided to wear it again.
Funny that you have this question today ;-)

I associate the crown with a king or queen that need to be humble, fair, share love and take responsability for their own decisions.

We can all become that king or queen in our own life, it is up to us to be humble, fair, share love and take responsability for our own actions.

Because then we can find the path to our kingdome :-)

  • As to me, i do not see the crown as something with great importance, as not all that wears a crown is worthy of it. As Charles Dickens said: “No varnish can hide the grain of the wood”. And keeping that in mind, i believe that a crown is a piece of metal used to express a situation which isn’t worthy all the times, a real king wears his crown on the inside before he wears it on the outside.

  • LES ROIS MAGES
    http://www.notrefamille.com/v2/editorial-dossiers-855/rois-mages.asp

    THE ROIS-MAGES
    http://www.notrefamille.com/v2/editorial-dossiers-855/rois-mages.asp

Of generation in generation, the witches passed on the prediction:
The gold, the incense and the myrrhe were deposited by Adam in Persia on the mountain Nud (a word which means “paradise”) to be brought by 3 witches to the Messiah, whose coming will be announced by ” an extraordinary celestial body ”

Until 6th century conscripts Melichior, Gasthaspa, Bithisarea (then the root Greek was privileged) so 3 witches were elected to fetch 3 presents of Christ:

Melchior, for his courage, will bring the gold symbol of the figure of Christ King

Gaspard, for his humility, will bring the incense symbol of the tribute to God

Balthazar, for the man who ” listens to his heart “, will bring Myrrhe which reminds that the son had to die

The rests of 3 Mages would have been transported from Milan to Cologne in 1164 when they are since, in a golden reliquary in the choir of the cathedral

They are witches but not kings (literally) but called rois-mages if we think of the ‘crown’ above the head (in the spiritual sense….)

  • I agree with what everyone has said here about the crown.

However, I feel that the visible crown as a legitimate representation of power, authority, or even divine association is invalid. Metaphorically, I feel that everyone has an imaginary crown of sorts on their head. Each crown specific to what the individual is best at, what makes them unique. A person does not need a physical crown to create an atmosphere. If he is confident with his ability or association with God then his light should shine through anyways.

The physical crown is only used by people who are not confident with their power. They cannot dictate sufficiently without a symbol of power.

conclusion: the physical crown is useless and unnecessary and the imaginary crown is already on top of all our heads, its up to us to see it.

  • For me crown is a symbol of power and legitimacy, authority and wisdom.

6th of January is a Three Kings Day. On that day three prophets (Magi)came to pay homage to Jesus Christ.
They are usually shown crowned and they brought 3 gifts: gold- symbol of Jesus’ kingship, frankincense- his priestly power and myrrh- prophecy of the Passion.
For that I associate crown with the power of kings and obedience of the prophets.

  • Dear Paulo, The crown may be regarded as one of the most ancient human symbols. It is a cross-cultural symbol that may be found at different times, civs, religions and regions. I found interesting reference at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crown_(headgear), however something tells me this is not what you are looking for.
The crown is a divine regalia. It resembles the sun in all its glory or the angel´s halos, the radiation of the soul in communion with the Above.
The crown is the symbol of those who have been given the Light or those through whom the Light shines.
I will try and put together a few lines and get back to you on the issue - hopefully in Portuguese.

    The crown

The crown is sometimes difficult to carry, sometimes as a cross

It opens us the spirit on the understanding of things which is not necessarily given to everybody to understand (the fate of the selection? A luck(chance)?)

The crown is a circle upward: a circle which says to us that the Spirit is a big everything, opened because it contains the world, and upward because it offers a superior opening

To the one who carries the crown, I want to say Wisdom Wisdom and Humility
Always carry the crown for the justice, the good and the love

To use to act, but act just, and in all honesty (know how to weigh as we can press on the balance of the ultimate wisdom)
but this learning is delicate and difficult in our current world to diffuse

Hope and peace / force and sharing
