I am in accordance completely
How about the port! What is a port without ship in it!
The ship is safest when it is in port, but that’s not what ships were built for.
(The Pilgrimage)
Just as ships are cast out to sea so must we cast ourselves out of the darkness. That darkness that comforts our fears and impedes our venturing out into the world. That darkness that keeps everything at bay our dreams, our love, our gifts, and makes us believe that beauty can only be found in routine and the known. We represent that darkness when we decided to live life guarded and without any risks or love. Living in darkness may comfort that part of us that doesn’t feel worthy enough, strong enough or loved enough; but we must at some point in our lives release every anchor that has weighed us down and determine our purpose. Life is a lesson that we must learn and then share with others. We need to tear down the safety net that surrounds our life and start living authentically by following our path, opening our hearts, taking risks and living in the moment. Only then are we able to serve our purpose.

you and you …will be the lighthouse of somebody
I hope
I feel as though I’ve been lost at sea. However, Mr. Coelho’s writings have served as a lighthouse in times of despair. Thank you.
Paulo I bet you love this blog, so many different energies and so many stories unfolding, I love the mystery!!
Penelope waiting to uncover the face of her Ulise.

life,, world.. universe.. everything moves, and in a way its safe to stay in the same place,,,,but its against nature, moving is the only way to live and feel life, we can choose to move deep and far and to take risks or we can try to find the quiet soft way with no too many waves, but even though even if we dont move too much all around us will move, so lets take the ride ,,,,,and here come my question, that i would like to ask u about life,, how do we look at life ? is life short?is life long? Mr, Coelho , says in the book el demonio and miss PRYM, that it all depends how we manage our life,,,,
I would like to hear the reader’s opinion , thanks Orly
A ship takes all the challenges on her course whith her crew
in good and bad conditions. Its a through warior of live.
A ship is full of compassion with her crew.
That is the the same path we have to follow in this live with a lot
of obstacles.

Some quotes are like a shake to the shoulder for me. Asking me what am I doing? This is one of them. A great song comes to mind it is called The River, and by country singer Garth Brooks. Hearing it always inspires me.
..with other words..
you cannot discover new oceans,
unless you have the courage to loose and leave
the sight of the shore.
[seen in Switzerland]
..or finally..
In the end what really matters most is:
- how well you have lived
- how well you have loved
- how well you have learned to let things go
[seen at Bali]
God made man and created oceans.
Men built ships in order to discover what lays at the end of the horizon.
But WHO made the storms and WHY?
Where does the fury of the seas come from?
Why are we brought to Life to risk it, repeatedly, until we fail?
And what urges us do sail?
I think hard about it and become demented.
I wonder further and I am tormented.
Then in the middle of the dark night my baby cries, I rush to him and cuddle his frail body against my chest, and I remember, I remember it all, very clearly, what was said to me just before my soul entered this enveloppe of flesh : go, go and be a Mother, a child and a mother, go and Live the Miracle of Life…
Love to all, Nathalie
ps Dear Paulo, I wonder, why children rarely appear in your books, because they are so important to me, to us all, to our society?
They are “who we once were”…
Best regards
Thank you for reminding me what I often fail to remember…
live and move forwards
p.s. we carry it wherever we go …. with our garden, flowers and ..ROSE, dear Hildegarde too!
Thelma
Thank you dear Hildegarde. Your posts are very wise and I always enjoy reading them.
As you know the ‘City’ is another poem by the Greek poet Constantinos Kavafis, the poet of ‘ITHACA’ too. All his poems I have found in the Google translated in English. He is one of my favorites Greek poets. Of course when something is written in your own language we are able to appreciate more the … music of the words.
The meaning of the City, as I was taught at school, is that the City is inside us, it is our cosmos and we carry it wherever we go.
LOVE,
THELMA
Sido66, thank you for your comments.I always read the comments in the Blog. Everyone has something to say and teach us and we by responding we … learn even from the .. storms and calm weather.

Thelma

Thema ,
love all , Love despite all , love all ( The command: love you some the others – Each is to be loved for what he/she is, even if it is not easy
Because there will be a storm, because there will be an acalmie, because the boat sometimes will roam, but the love and the hope will live
LOVE / HOPE ^ – ^
le commandement : aimez vous les uns les autres – chacun est à aimer pour ce qu’il est , même si ce n’est pas facile
car il y aura la tempête , car il y aura l’acalmie , car le bateau parfois errera , mais l’amour et l’espoir demeureront
The City
You said: “I’ll go to another country, go to another shore,
find another city better than this one.
Whatever I try to do is fated to turn out wrong
and my heart -like something dead- lies buried.
How long can I let my mind moulder in this place?
Wherever I turn, wherever I look,
I see the black ruins of my life, here,
where I’ve spent so many years, wasted them, destroyed them totally.”
You won’t find a new country, won’t find another shore.
This city will always pursue you.
You’ll walk the same streets, grow old
in the same neighbourhoods, turn grey in these same houses.
You’ll always end up in this city. Don’t hope for things elsewhere:
there’s no ship for you, there’s no road.
Now that you’ve wasted your life here, in this small corner,
you’ve destroyed it everywhere in the world.
Constantine P. Cavafy

sail away.
‘… and we, human beings are made for life, the adventure of the journey and LOVE and not for the safety of isolation and egoism.’
This is the … reason I am here again, today after the ..Tempest of yesterday’s Warrior of the Light comments, my dear Paul from Austria!

Thelma
