  • she is wearing a black and white dress walking on a red carpet and smiling, going through the motion. She knows what it is all about, she has been there before.

  • dear Linu. . .you touch my heart. . .please forgive me for inserting myself here. . .

i come from a tribal group of people that honors the sparrow as the bird symbol of our tribe. . .The Cherokee are considered to be holders of the Spirit, and the ancestors did not chose the mighty Eagle as the bird symbol, but rather the Sparrow. . .The reason is because the Sparrow is resourceful and the most bountiful song bird in the world, but the reason for the choice of Sparrow is because the Sparrow is “Ordinary”. . .Ordinary in that we are to be in the world and stand with equality and equanimity where no one stand above another and no one stands below another. . .

Nowadays to be in the world as ordinary is truly extraordinary. . .I often pray may i be an ordinary sparrow today. . .What is seen on the external will fade and give way to the next model coming up, it will not endure. . .Your dreams are telling you there is a song in your heart. . .

  • Is the winner always beautiful? Or in order to be a winner you have to be beautiful? Why is it that in all the books I have read, and yes, I did not read all the books in the world, the female characters are always beautiful? Do interesting, amazing, magical things only happen to the beautiful?

I am re-reading Brida at the moment and I have magical dreams, but these dreams last until I remember I am just an ordinary looking girl and extraordinary things don’t seem to happen to the ordinary looking people.

Dear Mister Paulo Coelho, are there any extraordinary stories (written stories) about ordinary looking girls? I would love to read one.

  • Here is another song that comes to mind from the image.

    lyrics from TV Theme Fame

    Fame!
    I’m gonna live forever.
I’m gonna learn how to fly,
    High!
    I feel it coming together,
People will see me and cry
    Fame!
I’m going to make it to heaven,
Light up the sky like a flame,
    Fame!
    I’m gonna live forever,
    Baby remember my name,
Remember, Remember, Remember, Remember, Remember, Remember.

    Fame!
    I’m gonna live forever,
    Baby remember my name,
Remember, Remember, Remember, Remember, Remember, Remember.

  • Fame, makes a man take things over
Fame, lets him loose, hard to swallow
Fame, puts you there, where things are hollow
    Fame

Fame, it’s not your brain, it’s just the flame
that burns the change to keep you insane
    Fame

    Fame

  • In a narrow view ones like Sharon Stone and other STARS that walk the red carpet can sure look pretty!. . .

From another lens these pictures of the red carpet come from the same root as the pornographic with its fixation on the physical body. . .

I love the human body both male and female. The language that can be spoken with the human body is perhaps the most creative and beautiful of all. . Please read Walt Whitman’s, Song of the Rolling Earth. . . but when it is roped off and exploited for some standard that sells a product or a production, it looses it’s true glamor and becomes exploitation. . .

I would rather the world see pictures that show the deeper reality of woman around the world that walk there on “Red Carpets”. . .

    Such as;

There are 80,000 to 100,000 girls from developing countries sold into the U.S. each year through trafficking for sexual exploitation (slavery). So many of these young girls where seduced, manipulated, and betrayed into believing they would be the next ones to walk down the “RED” carpet in Los Angeles like Sharon Stone. . . The number jumps to one million each year world wide. . .

Or how about the “RED” carpets of Africa and other developing countries where MILLIONS of women are walking their own red carpets. . .RED Carpets of blood from giving birth to dead babies, due to the practices of child brides (10 to 14 years olds) along with severe nutritional deficiency their little undernourished bodies with small pelvis rip the bladder and the bowels leaving them with incontinence. Then because of the incontinence they are shunned by their own families and communities. . .Many are not able to receive medical care because of the hygiene unpleasantness of the fistulas and are not even allowed into medical clinics and hospitals. They live like lepers with a continuous stream of blood, urine, and feces running down their legs creating a red carpet where they walk. . .( Please watch A Walk to Beautiful documentary of women in Ethiopia ). . . There are millions and millions of these women around the world. . .Let us focus the camera on these women and bring a resolve for their betterment. . .

Then there are the “RED” carpets of rape, where all too often rape is turned into war strategy. where infant girls to old women are raped to humiliate the opposition. . .

And i will close with one more image of “Red” carpets. . .The RED carpets of honor killings where women lay in a carpet of blood for expressing some desire of heart or body in a world where men can line up and determined a woman’s viability, vitality, and how a woman is to move in the world. . .

dear Paulo, i truly love your heart and spirit, and consider you the greatest of writers expressing the soul living in the world. . .I thank you dear One for all the ways you use your voice and strength of soul. . .Can you please bring your voice to these other “Red” carpets? They so bruise my heart and they need voices like yours. . .

    with honor and love

  • In her expression I see a child-like smile that says this is the best part of being famous. I see a woman who has taken that stroll in her mind since childhood and is living it in her adulthood and the child within gives a sigh (smile) of relief.

I also see an adult who cringes at the thought of having to go through life without a companion. She masks her emotions with a smile but the tension (in her neck) communicates that she’s trying to hold her head high so no one will notice her pain.

  • Deutsch ist dir nicht ganz so fremd liebe Cristina… Bravo!

Ja Wien, Wien, nur du allein…;) (ein Lied) Es ist allerdings Abends hier… time to go dancing… if only I could ;-( Schoenen Abend…

  • The folds that illustrate the quickness of her pace , a reluctant half smile, her arms held tightly to her sides, and the tension shown in her neck say it all.

But is she saying it to the man that stands behind her, watching her walk away, standing alone?

    Or to It?

Yes Candie, no-one but She can tell.

    [Reply]

  • She’s gotten far. She’s probably payed a price, but that doesn’t bother her, it doesn’t hurt her. She’s doing what she loves, so it doesn’t matter to her, what the surroundings are, what happens around her. People might do or say things, but she know’s what’s real, she’s strong. She actually is a bit amused how people who doesn’t know anything about her, about the inner her, want to make such a big fuss over the things that aren’t really important in life.

    [Reply]

  • Dear Candie I have never met Sharon Stone, of course!! She is really I beautiful woman.

Dear-est Paul from Austria, it seems that you are from the ‘lucky’ mortals who have met Sharon Stone at the “Life Ball” !! Did you ..dance a ‘waltz’ with her?? We are ….jealous;]!! So here, there is a topic for discussion, dear Paulo Coelho, that you are .. up in the snowy Davos, discussing ..economy!

Paul from Austria says: SHE IS DOINNG WHAT ALL WOMEN DO…AT FIRST.. SHE IS PLAYING HARD TO GET…;]
Although I do not think that she needs any ‘hard’ playing!!;]

I do no change my first impression here above. Reading her biography that she was born in 1958 I am sure she is …concerned of the coming years and beauty ..decline.
    LOVE,
    THELMA

  • When will you finally roll out the red carpet for some appealing men?

    [Reply]

  • This is a fantastic picture that really capture one of the truths in the phrase (and title) “The Winner Stands Alone”. It´s clearly like this, that one kind of “winners” only are able to walk on a soft carpet if they at the same time are intimately examined by hard eyes. But there are, I believe, also another kind of winners, who may walk on a hard carpet, but yet feel the soft and encouraging eyes from within.
