Saving the Planet

What do you think of this motto save the planet?

For me its quite cynical because, at the end of the day, if we dont take care of the planet it will destroy us. But we put ourselves in a position that we are saving something and this may be good for our ego but it is ultimately unrealistic. If we dont care of the planet, we will be destroyed not the planet.

But this is my opinion and I look forward to hear yours.

  • The ‘earth’ is inside micro and macrocosm. The law action x reaction is energy continuing . The ‘ man’ is a litle particle of this energy . Future is done by mind off the humanity .The question is:why the humanity is so self destructive ?what’s is wrong to hate so much ?Some steps of consciousness acquired by social and spiritual maturity tryes to retores damages ! Human rigths ,the conventions and agreements that not ‘leave the paper’ are really respected or some human people insists to be in old criminal age minds ?Why is so dificult to be a really good person that will not betray, and destroy or harm yourself or anything around him?So whe has to reborn, reface and find God within us (as abandoned). It was always so easy to spend some time and relflect about that real change and teach and provide conditions so that those who have not woken up happy to have this opportunity!

There’s no saving the planet. The planet existed before humans did and will outlive humans. We’re trying to save ourselves. Ice ages have come and gone. There have been eras where the earth had no ice at all on the surface without human activity. The earth’s atmosphere is forever changing and the changes right now are not in the best interests of the human race. There are rational changes we can make to improve the quality of our lives like conserving water and reducing pollution but 200,000 years from now will it make a difference?

  • Earth is too large to be permanently affected by us as humans, and by not “saving the planet”, we are only hurting ourselves. I think more people need to realise this.

I disagree with people who theorize that maybe nature was meant to destory us. Whether or not that is true, humans can’t accept this as a reality, as that would be going against our nature (the will to survive).

  • When we transform ourselves for the better, the world becomes better at the same time, as we are all cells in one Being, the power of collectivity, Virata. God is not necessarily interested in individuals, but in collectivity, that’s why we are unique but we are also in great numbers on Mother Earth, microcosmos living in a macrocosmos.
When we save our souls and identify with the divine light, the world is saved too, or at least those who deserve and want to be saved. The more we are transformed for the better, the greater vibrations will be at the level of collectivity.
May the Great Mother Goddess bless the whole world with love, peace, joy and enlightment now and forever! :o)

I too believe that the planet will take care of herself.
I think that the journey we should be embarking on with a vengeance is to come to the understanding that we have no right to imagine ourselves to be any more significant than what we perceive to be the humblest element of this life experience.

Our minds don’t easily cooperate with this type of thinking. But I believe that our souls crave the simplicity of it.

Hay que ser feliz con las cosas sencillas. ¡Qué quiere que le diga¡ Para mí la felicidad es la sonrisa de un niño, un libro que me apasione, un paseo por el monte en el verano, una conversación tracendente como esta, estar con mi familia. • I truly believe before we do anything outside of ourselves, we must first begin with reforming ourselves…”time to take the trash out, from our minds.” We need to uncover and discover who we really are…and such a process is done on a daily basis, consistanly and with discipline.
As one works on themselves, without lifting a finger, they’re environment will change accordingly…and life will introduce to you “all of life’s riches”…and most of the time, we cant touch it, nor carry it, but we will feel this overpowering feeling to do what is right…”join the battle of the good fight”, and with such a conscious, Inevitably we will focus on saving the planet.
Thank you Paolo, for always taking me a litlle more deeper.

  • In my opinion, we can not save the planet. The planet is already on a path of destruction which only get prolonged with the efforts of mankind. Until the end comes which to some will be a welcome blessing of God, we only have ourselves and souls to comfort. Enjoy what you have today and leave tomorrow for tomorrow. Sure, do what you can for the environment and be a good steward of your resources, but understand that all your efforts will be done in vain. The world will end one day and it will be because mankind abused and misused what it was given, from Day 1.

  • Dearest Paulo,

Came back today with my old diary where I had copied passages in it way back in 1990-92 from the book The Pesticide Conspiracy by Robert van den Bosch.(The book was first published in USA by Doubleday &Company Inc.1978)

    Prologue

    SILENT SPRING REVISITED

On this day in a future time, spring has returned and the sun-washed Mississippi Delta is breathtakingly beautiful under a brilliant blue sky and a mantle of lush greenery. It is a glorious season of warm days and soft nights, when the land, as it has for countless centuries, pulses with renewed life. There are the sounds of spring too: the rustling of leaves in a zephyr, the faint rumble of distant thunder, the whisper of water in a slowly flowing stream, the chitchat of small birds, the chirring of ciacadas, the crackling flight of grasshoppers, the low hum of foraging bees.

But these are the voices of Nature, and they form a muted chorus compared to the crescendo of sound once heard in this vibrant season. Something is missing from this spring-time symphony; that something is the sound of man. Man is gone, and nowhere to be heard is the clatter of a tractor, the moaning power surge of a spray plane, the grinding throb of a diesel locomotive, the roar of a truck-trailer rig, the squawk of a transistor radio, the whooping of voices across a field.
At some time in the past, man fashioned a catastrophe and vanished in it. Now all that is left of his brilliant doings are the decaying remnants of the things he created. Ghosted cities and towns crumbling to rubble, automobiles rusted to junk on littered streets, farmhouses and outbuildings rotting to dust, croplands tangled with brush and invaded by forest, graveyards with headstones toppled among the weeds.
Yes,man has vanished, but the insects still abound, and on this lovely day theirs is the prevailing voice of an almost silent spring.
    A fable?
    Let’s talk about it.

    “Silent Spring” Rachel Carson.

  • Our planet is our shared home. But at the same time, it is part of the solar system and an overall universe; part of a universal balance that has existed before us humans and will continue to exist after us. Therefore, the issue is to preserve the favorable conditions for the existence of life on Earth. We,the humans, with our acts disrupt the natural rythm of existence on Earth; however, the Earth has to preserve its balance and will thus change and alter itself and adjust to the changes. Whether we will be able to survive within the new conditions and in the altered environment is not known. The only thing that we can do is for each one of us to take responsibility to preserve his/her own personal environemnt, be it physical or spiritual. Only then will we be able to delay the process of our own destruction.

  • Hi Paulo and Everyone,

Save the planet is in a sense putting the emphasis outside our selves. Yet charity does begin at home. If we look after the house and don’t crap on it, then we have a vehicle which is better suited to the real business of developing self. We can lift ourselves up or revel in misery.

The self importance of mankind in the light of the days and nights of Brahma (from the Vedic scriptures) is a tad out of perspective. These scriptures point at a cosmic manifestation that comes and goes on time scales we cannot even begin to conceive.

And all we are worried about is our own petty wants and desires, what is on TV and the price of wine at Tescos.

The scale and omniscience of the cosmic and Divine makes me bow my head in utter humility.

In a sense we need to recognise that it is ourselves that we need to save and in doing so we will aid the evolution of the planet too. Charity begins at home.

In esoteric teachings mankind has been all but wiped out before, the stages of Lemuria and Atlantis; the great floods of mythology which pervade and underpin all cultures. So yes the planet can wipe us out. We are small fry.

However, that though should not have us reaching for the sackcloth and “O dolorosa mea!” It might convey a shared sense of responsibility for our part in this glorious journey which is life; for we are all aspects of the One Life. Each one of us is a single candle blowing in the wind of a Divine purpose we cannot as yet fully comprehend. Together, we are the most glorious rainbow.

Esoteric thought says that we have our existence within the planetary being. This has both spirit and form aspects. The Logos or word made into matter.

Working with both the father and mother aspects of manifestation we co-operate with the evolution of Karma. To raise one above the other is unwise. In the obsession with form-matter we neglect spirit. So by saving the form aspect of the planet and neglecting the spirit aspect we introduce an imbalance. And this imbalance will be reflected for us in the outer world. In times of tension things can go pop.

A little over two thousand years ago, a chap was born in the middle east. If I recall it correctly he had many words to say about how we might go about saving ourselves.

Much of that was to do with transformation. With his courage and fortitude he lit the way. And in his most marvelous of examples he died and was resurrected. This Passion awaits us all. The emphasis should be here.

In which way can each one of us “pick up our cross” and reach out for the spirit. For in focusing on matter it is this which we have neglected.

Is it not time that humanity realises that it is an aspect of the Prodigal Son, which has squandered all the material gifts and maybe just maybe should now reach out its hand, open and un-grasping towards the spirit. For in that way the breath of the Divine will perhaps breathe into us and we will have a new inspiration as to how to proceed.

We Fremen have a saying: “ God created Arrakis to train the faithful”.

With all my best wishes from the winter wonderland which is today, England,

    Alan

Governments to be accountable to the people.
The huge debts from third world countries must be cancelled in order for these countries to fall back on their feet.
New technologies must be developped as an alternative to the oil industry.
We are all connected (Mother’s nature, animals, plants, humans) and
it is time that we all join together and start the re-building of our planet for the benefit of all.
For this to occur, we must all Sing the same song and dance to the sound of it. It is urgent, reality bites..

  • May I add, that it’s my understanding that many spiritually minded people think that by saving others from their misery and “faulty” attitudes, they are helping to save the planet. It’s all about the critical mass etc, which in my opinion is a way of intellectualizing a process that will probably happen anyway (”let nature take its course…”). Therefore there’s a lot of pressure on both sides; on the one hand those who offer a million solutions and methods of saving people must be rather stressed out (and usually give it away by getting nasty) and those who are subject to manipulation or attacks to conform to other people’s idea of what is the right thing to do. I think we should have a little more trust in the higher powers than this! Of course we shouldn’t just sit back and get lazy, but (in my opinion) exercise effortless efforts by listening to our hearts and our intuition.

  • This is a pet question for me. I think it’s ludicrous to save anything at all. That’s really ego speaking, since it wants to feel good about itself. Most people talk this way about the planet as well as their peers, and it can be hard to deal with at times. However, taking care of things is quite different. That comes from the heart and not an exaggerated sense of self-importance. Only our higher selves can know what is the best action to take at any given time.

B)Doing a simple act of “helping yourself and helping other or Nature” can build a foundation for better planet.

  • Dear Santosh Kalwar,
You have some very good points, but putting religion aside for the moment, and you know how phlegmatic I can be…;) I reformulate my first comment on this post… and as many others, in their own words have agreed…

The solution for our (human/earth) coexistence is purely & simply the putting aside of our ego and allowing our hearts to take stock of the horrendous damage we are causing to this planet, (to name but a few, tropical deforestation, reckless farming & pollution of the seas, reckless depletion & use of fossil fuels, fresh drinking water & other life sustaining natural resources etc… etc…)

Paulo’s underlying philosophy is the need to “share”, as idealistic as this may appear, I believe it is the only way that we that we humans will be able achieve a healthy coexistence with the planet earth… “A Gift if not accepted (respected?)… will become a Curse!”

So I say again… we can only attempt to save (look inside) ourselves and try to understand the secret of coexistence for Humans, Animals & Nature…

    Love, Paul

  • We belong to the world. We are the earth’s children. The world doesn’t belong to us, but to all its creatures. We cannot save the world by our own means, but we can destroy much by our own means.
As in every combat of the powers in this universe, the “evil” can be disastrous and harm the “good”. But the “good” has its own magical powers. So if we really want to help, we should firstly take off the lamp-blouses that we’re wearing. We are the wolves! But even the wolves have good elements in them.
Maybe we cannot save the world, but we can try to make it better, by trying to eliminate what humans have done and do to the world: pollution, wars, hater, hunger, corruption…

  • Dearest Paulo,

Believe it or not I was thinking of writing you yesterday about the status of our planet and here you come up with just that!!!
In Agriculture college, where I studied, we had a question about a book” Who is the author of the book- ” The Silent Spring” The answer was Rachel Carson. I have not yet read this one but while working in a fertiliser company in 1990-02, one of the managers gave me a copy of “The Pesticide Conspiracy” to read(I will mention the author’s name later because my memory fails me right now) and the first few pages were from the very book- haunting passages written by Ms. Rachel Carson that all of us must read.

What I was going to write you in a question on your blog was this- why are we spending billions on finding water on the moon or Mars when we can’t respect Mother Earth for her bounty since creation? Why aren’t we happy to live with greenery around us? Now we are waging wars over water, land, and if possible we will sell air too(Pure Oxygen kiosks anyone?)If we find water on Mars, what will our great scientists do there? Plant trees? And here we have no qualms about destroying entire forests for greed!

Silent Spring opines/ exhorts/warns that the Earth can always heal herself. It’s man who needs to watch out and no one will miss him.

  • Dear All,

Do you think Earth is so limited in power that “we” can destroy it?
Mother Earth has life, she is known for her endurance and abundance.

Yes, she would destroy you if you try to destroy her. You get what you give; you show care and love for each and everything in the creation, you will be cared and loved by Nature.

We all are facing hazards of pollution, the reason is not that the Earth is giving up, its because we are giving up. Giving up on love and care.

I pray God to help us all be with Nature. Let us start with ourselves and help others. Let us not force anybody until they realize and take action themselves in their own way.

    Love,
    Meera
