Today’s Question by the reader : Sam

by Paulo Coelho on February 6, 2009

Dear Paulo,

I understand that your message is to follow our dreams. But what happens after we realize our dream? Should we feel complete fulfillment? And if yes then how does it feel? I found that I never feel completely content. Does it mean that I follow wrong dreams? I would imagine that when I feel completely at peace that means that I realized the right dream.

Dear Sam,

Realizing our dreams is a daily effort. There’s no such thing as the “end of the line” in this field. So not only can I understand your dissatisfaction as well as I share the same feeling. I’m never satisfied and I never look upon my dream – being a writer – as totally accomplished. Life is about new challenges. Total peace can only be found in death, in my eyes.

That was a great blog. Most blogs are not even worth reading.

Life is (however) a neverending battle.
But if it wasn’t so what would it be?
Yes Mr Coelho, I talked with people who had an NDE experience and they told me the same thing:neverending love and peace surround you. I believe it.
Have a nice day.

Dear Sam, When we will be masters of our three bodies, material, psychical and spiritual, our inner self and powers will be awakened. Then there will be no ..space and no time. It will be the Eternal now. Our senses will expand and become … super-senses. There will be no ..separateness. We will be … transparent and although we will be ‘ME’, carrying all the experiences on our Souls and Aura, we will ‘realize’ that we are ‘ONE’ and connected with the Light, I think!!:]
LOVE,
Thelma

I find I have many real dreams, each needing time and energy. However at any moment a new dream may arrive, needing dual attention.

No one can give us peace and satisafction but ourselves. Gratitude that we are alive, that we can breathe, that we are awake, starting a new day, lucky to see the rays of the Sun, the sky, the clouds, etc.
Human beings have the tendency to take everything for granted but life should be cherished in every tiny detail in order for us to be satisfied, to see how many wonderful gifts we have already received from God. But for some strange reasons, the empty half of the glass seems more noticeable than the full half. ;o)
I believe that the way we are here and now, we will be in other dimensions too, no matter where we go. It’s sad that there is this conditioning induced especially by church that people should wait for their death to be satisfied and peaceful, instead of doing their best to be like that while they are alive. If a body doesn’t move, it doesn’t mean that it is peaceful, it’s just inert but not necessarily satisfied. If the person is not peaceful, he will attract and go to dimensions where there is no peace, according to the universal law of attraction. Each of us is the product of his own merits, whether we like it or not and will be like that unless we want to do something to change our feelings, our attitude.

I believe I posed this question quite a long time ago, and since then I’ve grown and continue to learn each and everyday (which is a bit ironic to find the more you know, the more you don’t know). However, I have learned to look back and smile; and not to be a worrier, but a warrior. And, I know that downs follow ups and that there’s a natural flow in this world.

However, inlight of Paulo’s new form of online questioning I do pose this… there used to be a theory that everyone could know anyone through 3 degrees of seperation, but in the world of technology today which includes facebook, texting (you can’t avoid a message if you recieve one), cell phones, e-mail, etc. etc. has it become a world of 2 degree seperation? And, if so, if we lose our privacy do we lose a part of ourseleves?

I guess it is then “mission accomplished” if you have done what you are supposed to be doing on this life, so therefore you should rejoice, nutan. What do you think?
Smile.

O my G-d Mr. Paulo, I agree with u 100%,,,, its so tru we have our everyday chalenges and so many dreams,,,, and when we have our dream coming tru we sometimes have some new chalenge as life is like a wave,,,,up and down… and we should get to swim in to those waves,,, and try to feel safe and happy between wave and wave,, even one wave pushes us down or the other way,,,, we just want to be those happy sweemers.
and as u say peace…. we can choose to have our inner peace- i believe that if we try (another chalenge) we can find that inner feeling of peace b4 death!!!

why we have to think all the time?, soemtimes this is the porblem for me, cause i have to analize everything and i would like don´t think to much.Well, this sounds strange but, is like a problem.Alaways looking the details of everything ,how i will know if that is right or not, i have alot of clues of everything and i don´t stop until to found a good reason for this, but.. the majority of teh time, ther are a good answer fro that, the life soemtimes don´t give us right answer, just ideas that we adopt and we never will know if that is right or not, just is a good idea. I would like to know more, and i hope i never can stop to do this, but i hope don´t try to understand everything too, is to complicate.

According to Islamic culture, total relief is not found in death. There’s a new journey starts after death that would really justify your journey of your own previous life, based on your deeds in it. The Soul starts taking its road without asking: “where do you want to go?”, just leading you. You would just watch then.
That’s why I think death won’t be a relief.

Death might be a relief only from your self-consciousness struggle with yourself, desires, other’s desires, and what typically should be followed.

As long as you’re alive, life will always reveal the secrets that was underlying behind your suffering -often after a while- and they would be all fruitable, if not reasonable.

Paulo,

What about Self-realization? Wouldn’t we be Self satisfied whenever we reach the state of Self-awareness? This could happen before death.

I think that peace in this context is a feeling. A living person can feel. Our problem is that our feelings change all the time. Even if we manage to achieve peace in our mind we are unable to maintain it permanently. But I believe that there are people who by training their minds have achieved perfect peace that cannot be destroyed even by death. Everyone is looking for satisfaction in their life which I believe is the same as looking for permanent inner peace. Our dreams just have different shapes but ultimately they are the same.

Total peace can only be found in….a corpse! In the shell that returns to Earth.
Our soul continues the Path and ..dreaming till eternity.

yes, that is when they say :” Rest in peace”.
ca me rappelle un homme qui habitait dans mon village, qui etait dans un asile, il devait avoir une quarantaine d’annees. On l’appelait “Pipi
au lit” Il avait l’habitude de suivre tous les enterrements, et il etait toujours derriere le corbillard avec le pretre et il criait a tout ceux qui voulaient l’entendre “Ca pue! Ca pue!”
Je prefere continuer a rever ……
