Quote of the Day

by Paulo Coelho on February 9, 2009

Paulo Coelho

No one lights a lamp in order to hide it behind the door: the purpose of light is to create more light, to open people’s eyes, to reveal the marvels around.
(The Witch of Portobello)

O livro a Bruxa de Portobello, um de seus livros mais bonitos que li.
É linda essa passagem e dentro da história, entendi que essa luz poderia ser o brilho da Alma .
1 beijo,
Mari Raphael.

I find that women have an easier time making each other feel inadequate. I am not saying that it doesn’t happen with men. But women are hardest on each other. We need to learn to celebrate and support each other. To love each other for our gifts. To understand that we are the same in that we are all unique and have something to offer this world. One act of doing that is here. Thank you to Jessica and Nancy for your positive uplifting words.

Paul please, you might have to get up a little earlier ( just teasing back, don’t get offended).

You see Paul, I don’t have a problem with the word/concept jealousy.

Now, how am I going to get what I want to obtain, given that I like sparkly things.

I don’t need the boob job, but would opt for some laser treatments. I have some jewlery, but wouldn’t mind more. I am not into diamonds, would prefer sapphires, and like rubies.

I like champagne, with a strawberry at the bottom of the glass, it makes it sweeter. Oh, and I prefer a pretty glass.
The moment that I prefer to have any of those things, that the bimbo blond has, they will be mine.

The hubby? Well I can rest your anxiety, it isn’t going to be you. though you sure look like a cutie, and hopefully will make somebodies heart flutter, you’re too young, it won’t be mine.

But thank you for the opportunity to share.

Jessica, the quote from Nelson Mandela is amazing. It is what most female warriors of the light need to hear and remember. Maybe this is my experience but I felt from family and society that females are not to stand out, be leaders, hold very high positions, be adventurous. It is completely wrong.
Grace, if you start to follow what Nelson Mandela said I will too.

Maybe the bimbo blond isn’t so stupid

But the truth is, there are those who are not brilliant (intellectually), gorgeous (physically), talented (gifted), and fabulous ( the whole package).

There are those who are ugly, and they know it. No amount of lying will change that. To say, ‘oh but you are beautiful on the inside, or beauty is skin deep’ is deceptive in many peoples mind.

In a world that contains plastic surgery, jewelry, perfume, beautiful clothings, ect., our platitudes in regards to beauty are often invalidating.

And so the bimbo blond ignores us. She gets her plastic surgery, a new boob job (physical), jewelery, those sparkly things, so that she too is brilliant, bats her eye lashes (gifted), and presto, some man thinks she is fabulous. She is and she knows it.

Her playing small does not serve the world. It does drive the economy, and her hubby wild. Some of us are happy for her, some of us are not. Some of us pause.

‘Hmm, I like sparkly things too’.

Thank you for this reminder. I feel like I have struggled with this my whole life. With my family, friends, peers, and co-workers. I find that I have done the work and never shown anyone or I don’t speak up to reveal my thoughts because they are different. Or I don’t put in all of my effort to a task. Or I don’t try to look my best because I prefer to stay “hidden.” My reasons for doing this are mostly fear based and therefore not good reasons.

Paulo,
The light finds the meaning of its existance when in darkness.
Trying to hide a light will only give way to what the light is meant to.
The purpose of the light is to meet its opposite, the darkness, and then merge and find the balance of the universe.
All the best,
Hernán Vilar
