I like that Paul of Austria, a soul is like a bottomless glass, eternal.

Sometimes the eyes of a child can have the wisdom of the ages held within them.

Thanks.

In my experience, it just gets better...and better...and better. i love growing! I don't think of it as growing "older" or "weaker" or "closer to death's door." I just think of it as growing, and becoming, and evolving all the while into something better and purer and closer to the element of clear fire.

I think, when the time comes, I'll simply die by spontaneous combustion. They'll find nothing, not even ashes, left of me.

*smile*
I've always liked to be with old people.

Thinking about wisdom it's perhaps easier gained
with experiences, but often I think more of wisdom
as a state of mind, as a common-sense-down-to-earth-
open-mindness that makes a person able to cope
with difficulties without loosing his cheerfulness.

Like that wisdom don't belong to a certain age,
but more to ones personality.

Wishfull thinking.

I disagree with Asomov. Old age does not mean no future. No future is not reserved only for old, unfortunately more and more it is conected with young.

I agree with you Paulo, especialy with last sentence about serenity of wisdom.

Love

Wisdom is underrated. People are brainwashed to value
physical beauty first and foremost. I think this is because
it's actually easier to be beautiful than to be wise. The
path to wisdom is harder, no ingredients, no formula. It
comes only to those who seek it hard, those who live life
experiencing and learning.. those seeking to be better each
day.

Beautifully put, Paulo. I could not agree more. I have always treasured moments in the presence of elderly wisdom. I listen as though my eyes beheld a King or a Queen, my ears a great poet or philosopher.

The serenity about which you speak is a most contagious emotion and another gift for us. I have often sensed their private and quiet knowledge of what lies beyond the threshold of death. They also seem to possess a gift for seeing deeply into others. Wouldn't it be wonderful to write a book through the eyes of one of these great seniors?

When I was just a child, I had an elderly friend. She was about 95 years old, a neighbor. I was only 10. Occasionally, she would call me to her door, gesturing. We would chat for a few moments; she'd be telling me about her family. I'd sometimes run small errands for her. But mostly she just wanted company. She always insisted on giving me little gifts, like tiny jeweled pill boxes, costume jewelery from the 1920's and other little things. I still have a few of them, some lost along the way. With so many other children around, I often wondered why she chose me. I have never forgotten her, and I am sure that I never will.

Thank you, Paulo.

Much love,
Diane

Yeap it's a great answer.
I understand why some are afraid of ageing,it's not my case but I do understand, the fear of changes, the fear of not being in control anymore, the fear of physical suffering sometimes, the fear of being alone and finally, the fear of death.

It's about how you feel inside and like the wine, yes it gets better with time, through experiences and wisdom like you just said Mr.

Probably,I will change my perception of seing things in some years, don't know. It's often easy to say than to apply with time..

We'll see,maybe.

When we are children time passes so slowly.. Growing older it seems that the rhythm is accelerated. There is no time for thinking about 'old age'. It is here already. It is the journey going towards the end, looking around still with the eyes of a child but also with the eyes of maturity and knowledge, which sometimes appears as Wisdom. It is the time to cut away from our lives, situations, tasks, people that may make us feel unhappy or tire us. In many aspects our duties may have been completed. We have more time for ourselves and to re-consider our priorities. Seeing inside me, I see all my loved ones dead or alive. They are all here with me and I am sure that even leaving from this life the way is an even more beautiful journey free from the ..restrictions of our vehicle, the ageing material body.
LOVE,
Thelma
