I started to read last night The Winner Stands Alone, and I have to say it is brilliant. A damning indictment of the fashion and film industry.

Coincidence: Published to coincide with the film version of Veronika Decides to Die?

Synchronicity: The day after I picked up a copy of The Winner Stands Alone, I turned on the radio and found myself listening on BBC Radio 4 Thinking Allowed to an excellent discussion of an exhibition illustrating throughout history status and rank, wealth, poverty and inequality through the visual arts.

Thelma, I am from Canada. I understand the comment above from Paul From Austria now…you do have a bookstore in your home. Enjoy your day.

I just picked up a copy in Guildford.

I had hoped to find a nice display to photograph, but sadly not. The book was not even on display, I had to ask, but luckily for me, they had a copy in their bookstore.

I have to say the cover on the Greek edition is nicer than that on the Englsih edition.

Question is, do I read it now or do I resist temptation and save it for hoilday reading next month?

It is a nice sunny day. I may just go and sit in the Castle Grounds and read a little now.

Thank you all for admiring … Paulo’s Books! ;]
Dear Annie, the photo was taken with the permission of … George, my tenant! What about traveling to Cyprus and meet your .. virtual mother?
Dear Carolena, I like taking photos! Do you need an .. assistant in your team?
Nancy, if you ever come to Cyprus [where do you come from?], I will be happy to meet you. My flat is just above the … bookstore in Limassol!
Dear Santosh Kalwar, I would be happy to take a photo of your books when HOPE becomes a .. reality!
What do think, dear Paulo Coelho, of visiting Cyprus and arrange an ..informal meeting of any readers may want to come? It seems that Cyprus is the … center of the World! The beautiful Aphrodite’s island in the crossroads of three continents, as I have learnt at school!!
LOVE,
Thelma

Thanks Thelma!! I was thinking of taking a photo the day I picked up my copy as it looked so nice in the window, but I didn’t know at the time it could have been shown here.. I always enjoy seeing all the different types of cover from each publisher.

Thelma, nice picture. I feel you have taken me to Cyprus, because since reading Paulo Coelho’s blog I have been dreaming of going to the countries of the readers. Cyprus, Brazil, Austria, Sweden, France…just to name a few. Maybe by chance I would meet the readers too!

Colour-coded.Every country reads the book in its’ own colour. My country didn’t disappoint me.But,no woman on the cover. It creates some kind of tension.Like a story, which should be continued..

Really nice. But,I am not among the countries mentioned.I know I can read it here, but my eyes get tired much sooner if I read on line than if I read a real book.I am looking forward to see your new book in my beloved unique country.Love and Peace, Alexandra

Oooo, I like that cover! What a shame that we are so prudish here in the U.S. The human body is a thing of beauty – what a pity that we have to treat it as though it were something to be “ashamed” of, something to keep completely under cover at all times.
