One thing I don’t like is when the internet is used for false information. Yesterday somebody let me know that they had checked my name on Live Search. There – connected to my name – was a picture of a former collegue. Lise – you are a nice person, but you are definitely not me. I will see if I can have this removed very soon!

Lynn,

Very interesting article, thank you for posting it.
Recently I saw a case of a psychosis appear ‘out of nowhere’ so it was thought… and right off, medicine was said to be the cure for a chemical imbalance… Yet in essence, the psychosis had a cause, and the real cure is getting down to the cause, where no medicine is really needed.
Hope for a better future!!

Happy Birthday Marielle! (What a pretty name).

I came across this quote last night …

“Sometimes people get the mistaken notion that spirituality is a separate department of life, the penthouse of existence. But rightly understood, it is a vital awareness that pervades all realms of our being.” David Steindl-Rast

Which led me to this video, much enjoyed …

Cada vez te admiro mais, Paulo Coelho!

Our search for a future that works keeps spiraling back to an ancient connection between ourselves and the earth, an interconnectedness that ancient cultures have never abandoned.” Helena Norberg Hodge

Ancient cultures, including the Hopi and Mayan cultures have predicted what many have seen as the “end of the world.” New Age types have seen this time as the Aquarian Age, and fundamentalist Christians have referred to the “end times.” In previous newsletters I have addressed the alternative perspective that we are in a time of change in frequencies, when the world as we know it is becoming more malleable, more open to change; a time when we need to be very conscious of the thought and speech patterns we are creating. In current discussions taking place in the public arena I see these changes being dealt with in a somewhat superficial way: our first mixed-race president, attempts to prop up institutions that are failing, awakening to the obvious evidence of global warming. However, there is something potentially far more powerful simmering below the surface that provides an opportunity for more fundamental, and necessary change.

Western society has a tendency to deal with symptoms, rather than causes. The medical approach to cancer is a classic example. We have a cancer epidemic, caused by pollutants in our water, our food, our air. Yet the western approach is to add more drugs to the body to arrest the symptoms rather than to deal with the causative issues. Pharmaceutical companies are making huge profits, and the drugs they are peddling are being excreted right back into our water, air and food supplies, creating more mutations/cancers. Global warming is another example. Now that we have had almost ten years of record setting heat, disappearing glaciers, and extreme weather patterns even the naysayers are acknowledging we may need to reduce global warming levels. As a result we will start supporting green energy initiatives, which is a wonderful thing. However, these symptomatic approaches do not address the underlying issue.

We need to address the insanity of assuming that the profit motive is a natural way of life. In indigenous cultures, as referred to in Norberg-Hodge’s quote, there is no concept of profit motive, no measurement of GNP, no desire for fueling the engines of consumption. Indigenous and Native cultures focus on the good of the whole. They rely on the process of consensus and balance. Western culture has been wonderful when it comes to technological advances but it’s time to bring the sense of expansion and development back into balance. With the unbridled greed and the willingness to “pave paradise” (Joni Mitchell) we have thrown our entire planet out of balance.

I remain a pragmatic optimist. I think the election of this current administration is evidence that people in this country are waking up to the fact that we need to focus on the good of the whole planet, rather than forcing our consumption-oriented lifestyle on other cultures. I am thrilled by the popularity of some of the current books that are bestsellers, in particular Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. Mortenson points out that it costs $12/year to educate a child in Afghanistan or Pakistan. The cost of a single F-22 jet fighter is over $140 million. These jets are being used in air raids in Afghanistan that are killing civilians. If that $140 million/plane were invested in education in Afghanistan, Pakistan and all over the world we would not need jet fighters. We need to start asking who benefits from this expenditure of our tax dollars.

I have always said that when I “rule” the world, every child will spend one of their teen-age years in another culture. We would be done with war in one generation. It’s impossible to bomb, or try to convert, a people when you learn to respect their culture. The next article speaks to this in quoting Julia Ward Howe, a pacifist who created Mother’s Day with the hope of bringing peace to the world.

In honoring Mother’s Day this year let us consider how we might dedicate ourselves to the good of the whole, to our mother earth and her creatures, in the pursuit of peace for future generations.

May, 13th- nothing special today. Work as always, not much, not enough to do. Started at 8 am, finished at 3pm. Picked up my daughter in the centre of our hometown, went back home. Had an espresso, learned Maths with my daughter who’s going to write a test tomorrow, prepared dinner for my two kids – I’m living alone with them since 2001 – started the pc and stranded here….
Myself… in a frustrated mood. Life lost it’s wounds on my soul the last years. Too much of work since we are living alone. Besides a 60-hours-a-week job there are my kids and the house, the garden, two rabbits,….. and, that may be the worst, the feeling not to be able to educate the kids in the right way, the doubts, the feeling to be responsible for their faults…., the feeling to have lost the smile on the face…
Moods are spontaneous, moods change….
Next week can look in another way….
Thinking , troubling about my best friends. They have a crisis in their relationship. Trying to help them. Conversation with them, all together, with each of them separately. Can one be able to renew other’s love? Should one to try so? I’m not sure to act right.. The female friend is like Veronica from Paulo Coelho’s well known book- so many parallels between the two. The first action of mine was to give ´”Veronica decides to die” to her when I first met her….
Waiting for the next week, waiting for the return of my smile…
Thanks for reading all this boring stuff.
Happy birthday, Marielle, Happy Birthday Daniel!!!! Children, born from love, are the valuest this life can offer to us!!
Bye, Rainy

I have decided that status quo can cause fatigue. I feel so tired just thinking about the fact that tomorrow will be the same as today, as it was yesterday and will be the day after tomorrow. The thought of the daily routine washes over me like dirty rain water – gray, sludgy, dull. Although organization was once my preferred religion, lately I have become somewhat disillusioned by it’s rigidity. I find myself feeling constrained, bound by the ties of habit. Colors show up in the form of change, where a slip in the pattern reveals a patch of brightness. I hold that patch up to my face and breathe deeply in the freshness, exhaling only to take another long breath. Something long buried within stirs as it recalls the colors, the vividness of life, when gray was a choice, not an requisite, when the act of creating was enough to color the world in bold tones as life announced itself, shimmering in all it’s brilliance.

Do céu veio a terra
A Virgem Maria.

Foi aos pastorinhos
Que a Virgem falou,
Então nas almas,
Nova Luz brilhou.

Das mãos lhe pendiam
Continhas de luz
Assim era o terço
Da mãe de Jesus.

A Virgem nos manda
Seu terço rezar,
Assim, diz “meus filhos,
Vos hei de salvar”.

Ave, Ave, Ave Maria
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.

Atreze de outubro
Foi o seu adeus
E a Virgem Maria
Voltou para os céus.

À Virgem bendita
Cante seu louvor
Na nossa terra,
Num hino de amor.

Beijos,
Mari.

I think that whatever you put out into the world, you will get back. Whether it is a smile, a hug, a nice gesture, or going out of your way for someone else. If you take the time and help someone you will always be taken care of. I feel enlightened when I have the chance to make someones day.

Beijos!
Fica com Deus e na paz!

Today I walked barefoot on the beach. I felt sand underfoot,  and was anointed by the ocean, as gentle waves lapped at the shore. The sun sat high in the sky – resting occasionally behind small clouds.

The further i walked, the quieter things became, as people melted away and only the sounds of the wind and the sea kept me company. At times the sands were hard, at other times my feet sank so deep  it felt i was being swallowed by the very earth. But I kept going. Kept putting one foot in front of the other, and remembered to breathe.

I am thankful to the universe for today, because today I knew freedom.

Hope you had a good day!

Kazik :-)
