Dear Paolo and everybody,
It is a great pleasure to read your comments above, and I love Paolo’s writing! I am a dreamer who is committed to the path, and I have been deeply deeply blessed to see God in each person around me.
I’m just finishing a year studying and living in the UK and wrote this blog to reflect on my faith/spiritual journey so far…Mostly I am expressing my desire and right to transform the larger faith of the world. It was interesting that I wrote it just before reading “By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept” because I feel some similar echoes with Pilar’s lover.
If you have a moment and don’t mind, I’d love for you to read it, as well…

I don’t know if I am allowed to post a second entry, but I did wanted to share a story I read today and which had a great impact on me and, in my humble opinion, can have an impact on the world. It is about “Burma VJ,” a documentary film which just opened at the Film Forum in New York. VJ stands for Video Journalist – a profession which is embraced by more and more people and which has now proven that it can be a powerful tool. Anyone caught reporting in Burma would have been thrown in jail or probably killed. What these undercover VJs have done is beyond amazing. As Sheila Nevins of HBO commented, one can only imagine what would have happened had someone been able to smuggle a video camera into Auschwitz.
You can watch a short trailer of it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V08EBWQLzyU
“Armed with small handycams undercover Video Journalists in Burma keep up the flow of news from their closed country despite risking torture and life in jail. Their material is smuggled out of Burma and broadcast back via satellite. Joshua, [a Burmese pro-democracy activist,] age 27, becomes tactical leader of a group of reporters, as Buddhist monks in September 2007 lead a massive uprising. Foreign TV crews are banned from the country, so its left to Joshua and his crew to keep the revolution alive on TV screens all over. As government intelligence understands the power of the camera, the VJs become their prime target.”
This is an excerpt from my blog entry of last Sunday:
… While I know that not everyone has been as lucky as me to be showered with love as a child and be blessed with a certain degree of intelligence, I firmly believe in the limitless human potential. We can all run our own race. We can paint our own life. We can soar through our existence. We can rise above expectations. And, if necessary, we can fix our broken spirit and replace it with a fighting spirit.
I realize that I may be part of a different constellation than most people on this planet. I do not want to pass judgment that my constellation is better than anyone else’s constellation. I live happy in mine, “you” can live happy in yours. But I think this is where the rubber hits the road. Some (or maybe most?) are unhappy (or at least dissatisfied) with who they are, where life has taken them or how they are doing. They don’t (or my friends would say, they cannot) do enough to break the pattern of failure, unhappiness, dolor, etc., in which they fall prey day after day. I say, we can all break free, be a shooting star and land in another happier cluster. We can take control of our own life. We can seize this moment and from this day forward we can be anything we want to be.
… I pushed my limits. I rocked the boat. I shook the universe (my universe and some other people’s universe) with great fervency. I broke all rules. I ignored the status quo. I walked to the edge. I chose with no regret. I sailed away from safe harbors. I caught wind in my sails. I almost drowned in violent tempests. I played with abandon. I told stories to myself when no one was there to listen. I questioned some of my assumptions. I stopped searching for a few answers which could not be given. I screamed in madness. I cursed the world. I counted my blessings. I lived with intention. And, above all, I trusted the Universe.
We all have a fire in us. We are born with it. If it almost burned out, let’s awaken it! Dream. Explore. Discover. Grow. Think. Dare. Live. Love. Hug. Kiss. Smile.

Dont be BLACK to BLACK
Black:
cant b evil, for the one in black doesnt know where he heads to
Black :
its the colour of my eyes ,for others when they r open, to me when they r closed,
Black:
its not the color of burnt, but the one that is capable to,those who burn to give light
Black:
is the color of white’s existence, light’s existence
Black:
is not the color of mourning, for the life begins in black

Dear Paulo,
Always enjoy your posts. Thought you would find interesting this somewhat differing view about “personal legends” form LivingHour.org:
Personal legends are built on the idea of the mythological hero, who follows a straightforward path of separation, initiation, and return…If only life worked out in such a tidy fashion!
http://livinghour.org/blog/daily_motivationals/your-personal-legend/
Although on the surface it seems you two have different perspectives, I weirdly see it all fitting together!!
Thanks, JJ
well,Santhos,I took your free book.Thank you. I started to read, yes,you have talent. As far as I read it seemed a melancholic quite desperate tune, I know there are such feelings, just now I need something to cheer me up. Anyways, you are able to transmit your emotions to the reader… I will read all, I love poetry a lot. I had a friend in USA, Richard Lee, used to share his work, poems about love. By mistake, I canceled them, I repent so much.Good luck for more books dearest Santhos, keep writing. An honor to know a person like you are,God bless you.
Neela dear, I did it, prayed, hope time was right, and I prayed for one friend of mine too,who need help, and for everybody .Much much love,
Alexandra
Neela, will do, right now.
To Thelma and Santos I want to say I am honored you mentioned me in the weekly blog. Thank you! You both have a Heart of Gold. Santos, I’m proud of you, and will certainly enjoy downloading your new book, and try to give you some feed back.
Listen, I wanted to say a few words on why I choose my nick; Heart. Some have expressed opinions on coming here with first name, with first and last name or with a nick. Some might think I use a nick to hide, disguise or try to be somebody else. Not so. I see the nick as a literary and spiritual symbol, but do of course not pretend to have a better heart than anybody else. We can all aspire to hearts of gold.
Yesterday, I did a Google search on ‘Coelho+heart’ and got a tremendous amount of hits. Coelho uses the word ‘heart’ in so to speak all his book, many, many times. This was not the reason why I picked the nick, as I found out about it just now. I did read in his; ‘The Fifth Mountain’ that he says the character, has been baptized by God at birth, but must baptize his life with the word he has chosen to give meaning to that life…’And at that moment he named his life ‘Liberation” (quote page 206). Awhile after I had picked my nick, I read this and thought, now my nick got a new meaning.
No, the reason why I picked Heart, is… an online friend, an Italian/Florida man, who used to nick himself, Prima… when we chatted every day on http://www.pirch.com, 40+ and he told me I always made him think about Neil Youngs, Heart of Gold, he gave me a new understanding about myself, which I of course found very beautiful. He reminded me of something I was missing in my life, and which I wanted to dedicate myself to. As I have a problem with You tube today, I’m posting the text, instead of the video of this wonderful song.

Do not see yourself as a victim of circumstance, see yourself as the winner.
Dear Neela, will do…right now :)
To Thelma and Santos I want to say I’m so honored they mentioned me on the weekly blog. Thank you both. You two have hearts of gold. Santos, Congratulations! I will certainly read your poems and reflections. (Alexandra, not to leave you out :) I enjoy your postings here too, always)
Listen, let me talk a few words about my nick; Heart. Some people in this blog call themselves with first and last name, most of you only with their first real name. Others, like myself, call ourselves by a nick, be it as creative as can be, a very common thing in the online world. As I have noticed comments against ‘people who doesn’t come here under full name’, as if believing we have something to hide or we want to be in disguise or pretend we are something else than ourselves. Let me just explain, that is not why I choose to call myself Heart here.
Yestday, I made a Google search for ‘Coelho+heart’ and got an enormous amount of hits, because the heart is an important literary symbol. Coelho uses the word ‘heart’ all the time. But, this I just learn now, and is not why i picked this nick. Closer to the explanation I find reading ; ‘The Fifth Mountain’ where Paulo Coelho talks about how his character had been baptized one name by God (Elijah) and must learn to baptize his life with the word he has chosen to give meaning to that life. ‘And at that moment he named his life ‘liberation’ (page 206).
My reason for using this nick, is… I had a friend online @ http://www.pirch.com in a chat room called 40+, an Italian/Florida man, who used to call himself; Prima. As you know for many Americans, pop and rock music is almost as our religion, and he sent me the song ‘Heart of gold’ by Neil Young, because he said it made him think about me. Of course, I do not intend to pretend I have a better heart than anybody else, but just think the heart is the core of what we are as human being. And what Prima said, was one of the most beautiful thing a man has said to me, and of course made me very happy. I couldn’t find a You tube clip where the sound would play this morning, so I can only post this recording, that isn’t of too great of quality, but you all know this song in your hearts;
