Today’s Question by the reader : Faouzi

With your new book – isn’t the thriller a new genre for you?

Actually I never meant to write a thriller but a faithful portrayal of our times and the entertainment world.

  • I read nearly all of your books, but have to admit, this one leaves me puzzled.
Usually your stories have some kind of positive note at the end you can draw force and hope from. But here, the absurdity of the life you describe, the random way people die is frightening. Courage, good intentions and willingness to stay true are not enough any more, as soon as you have a little pinch of vanity in you – which we all have – you die.
Is this the real message you wanted to transmit?

  • I was reading newspaper coverage of the recent Cannes Film festival and looking at photos-I was influnced in my impressions of the photos since I have just recently read ‘The winner stands alone’wondering what were the human stories behind the images. Thanks for your question Faouzi.

  • I think dear Paulo was dabbling into the human conditions!
Why does one do what they do? it goes hand in hand with parts of the entertainment world, good actors, Kate Winslet, Leonard Dicaprio, Meryl Streep, amongst others do a great job at portraying the human conditions.
