We choose our own battles and once the clarity of deception is reconized then the truth will be the victor.Surely I have fallen seven times and gotten up eight,seems like deception in that statement,but I first had to be up before I had fallen,so that makes sense to me.What I find deceving is the part that says “The secret to life”.What secret?There's no secret to the amount of times being up and falling. But the way the statement is written ,it looks to be deceiving by the amount of times falling and getting up which it is not.It just appears to be .Magicians have secrets in which they deceive us and many of us find it to be entertaining.But once we know how the trick or deception is performed its validity becomes deminished,much like anything that is falsely done.Things aren't always wwhat they appear to be and if it is to good to be true,then it probaly isn't.
falling 7 times and getting up 8 : before you fall first time you must have arisen, gotten up, sop when u get up after 7th fall u are actually getting up the 8th time : problem solved, QED.
once when i was maybe 9-10 , i happned to chance across a book of quotations, usual stuff were defoinately there, persitance pays, truth wins etc etc. but then i don't remember those quotations, one which i remember is attributed to swami vivekananda ” don't disbeilive a person 101st time, even if he has deceived you 100 times” yeah right, i said , and ain't that the surest way of being known as a fool. i could not forget it though ! if comeone decives me, it's his/her karma, s/he will pay for it, if i trust someone, that is my karma. more than relationships of life, life is about evolution. each decpetion is an oppertunity to evolve a little more. point to be noted, decpetion hurts only when we have preconceived expectataions, otherwise …
about winning and loosing battles of life : win and lose are not so clear cut in life, although they appear so. what may appear as win in short term maybe actually a lose in long term. what is important is that we live sincerely and not bother too much with results !

The Phoenix metaphor is beautiful, thank you Thelma for enlightening me this morning. Deception can break your heart, even more so when you find you have been doing it. But as with all other life lessons I think all we have to do is embrace it, take the leson from it and move on. The trick for me, is to know when it comes around again, to shield you heart as best you can, and use the lessons from the previous experience to reason with it.
we have to be ever ready to get up and it doesnt matter how many times we fall- getting up is the main goal!!!!!

Candie, like Neela, I can understand how you don't get it. It's hard to grasp, for me too. Well, I do believe that mistakes are a part of life, we can't and don't always succeed or do the right thing, and so we get up again and try again. This is a basic part of life, learning, growing. Yet deception, a hard concept to grasp since I myself have strong conscience toward deceiving someone, yet I'm learning that perhaps, even this is a part of life. I mean, it is relative. I'm not saying that it's good to deceive, but perhaps that the word has been given a very negative connotation to it. I believe ultimately, that if respect is missing, then deception is bad.

it takes us sometimes many times to learn something, and this thing appears in our way, like a little rock, that either we step on it and fall or make a leap and move ahead this .. they are this nightmare that comes unexpectedly one night, and then another night this intruder comes into your mind, and ruins all the night..they can be an obsession till you overcome this something that disturbs your Self, that is there, and it wont leave, till you make a decision to handle with it and not close your eyes…but these stones are so meaningful..have a very basic purpose,they help us grow, they can be truthfully one of our cornerstones we can lean to at later difficult times, and they can help us remember the courage we have inside, and go on with our precious Life..
Whatever doesnt kill us makes us stronger!

Deception comes and invade me when I do for my own purpose
Deception comes and invade me when my happiness, my needs are dependant of the other, the situation
Deception … God, the Source, Mother Earth, call it as you which, must not stay in that state or touch it since he or it knows the happy ending of all paths
Deception is when I don't trust, me, the inner potential of the other and the Universe
Deception is when I loose the vision of my path, when I look contact with my purpose, my mission
Candied, you ask about Hope versus Deception … The contrary for me of Hope is Emptiness and the contrary of Deception is Happiness
So, if I feel and follow my path, happiness is present and deception is just a cloud that I have power to let stay or go
When I am in my path, I feel hope that the experiment has a meaning, so no deception ahead
For now, this is what comes out in responding to your need to have more comments … is it wise? It is for me for “today”, since life is continually moving

I used to battle all the time, and failed more than won most of the times, because I fought the mostly the wrong battles, like wanting to change the other, the situation … anger, deception, need to flee, culpability were the prices that I got. Now, with time and experience, after many “falls”, I sense better, think and reflect on the “real purpose” of the battle I want to engage in or am confronted with … sometimes, for me a battle is “won” when I simply express with love and liberty (for myself and the other), and continue to follow my path. With school authorities, I confronted, battled, expressed, gave a lot of energy, but had to accept that to change the system is too big for me. So, my battle is to believe in my son’s potential, which is high but not in accordance with the way of seeing of the rational minds. After many sufferings (for me), I chose the battle of praying, having faith in me, my son, the Divine Source, and by refusing to nourish this “circle” (system) … I stay polite, tell what I sense, see, feel, and refuse to go to any meetings which purpose is not to help me, my son but to respond to only one way of thinking, theirs. So, they have to live with me like that, are not happy … and I now am detach and put my energy elsewhere, to where I am meant to be, meaning making a difference in my family, my work, my community with my “enterprise” and “foundation”, and another warrior next to me does the same, etc … I also learned that patience, acceptance, and regarding the experience from the point of view “what do I have to understand of that fall” instead of “why did she, or he, ot it not change, accept, comprehend” … Each time I regard the fall as something for me to understand, I grow stronger and stronger and discover most of the time that I am battling the wrong battle. So, I do I manage to win battles, more and more by reflexion, meditation, writing, communicating with important people to me on why the “adrenalin” is getting so high, the intensity so strong … I then go back to my meaning of my life, my mission, and see how if I go in that battle it will serve the “cause” … sometimes, I choose to go for it, when it has to be, or other times, I chose not to and remit it in the arms of the Source … and wait … maybe the Source will have something to tell me later with another experience. Deception was mostly there when I was impulsive or “concerned by myself in the matter” …

ha ha. Neela Nila, read beyond the lines. The meaning is to be strong and to learn to withstand more and more deceptions or hardships. I am sure that with each difficult situation that we faced we just grow and develop, as I mentioned in the post about confrontations. If we live only a nice warm easy life, we become lazy, not interested. Many times are exactly the difficult times the alarm, the thing that force us to react and to return to the “path”. Much Love
