thelma, that is brilliant answer. i think people are capable of loving many people but it don’t have to be necessary the same as the love to our better half. Thus I believe monogamous isn’t illusion.

Yes you are right and Greeks do swear a lot especially while .. driving!
MONOS= one
ΓΑΜΟΣ = wedding, but the verb means exactly the sex action
The verbs in Greek usually end with ‘ω Ω’ omega.

Thelma, you did not define the words completely, Polygamy and Monogamy… we know poly means a lot, many, and mono means one, alone.
But gamy… from what I remember, gamy sou, means F&$%# you, in Greek. I remember because of hearing and sometimes using that word. That is right no?

I also tried four years ago to learn some Italian, a beautiful, musical language, but it seems that when you are … old, things are more difficult.. I enjoy listening to Opera and trying to understand the words.. Another word from me : ΑΓΑΠΗ ΜΟΥ = agapi mou = my love!!

Dear Paulo, I have just returned home from a .. funeral..
I remember the article .. I know it is .. science. Thanks to the DNA tests fathers now know if they are the ‘real’fathers.. Before it was a ‘must’ and a compliment to say that the child looks like the .. father! It was an assurance .. Even the Divorce Laws in my country that were based on Religious Courts [have changed recently due to our going into European Union] the couple could not marry earlier than a six months period, so that they would secure the paternity of children.

Monogamy = μόνο + γάμος Polygamy = someone who is .. married with more than one woman. In certain religions it is allowed [ Muslim - harems] This regarding different cultures..

Dearest Paul, of course we are capable of loving more than one person, but this is not EROS!! We all know the passionate feeling that drives us towards the loving person, the desire to be just with him/her, the need to ..offer him/her the ‘flowers’ of your heart, your thoughts, your ‘everything’. If in this ‘dance’ your desires find a respond and the other person does not fail in fulfilling the expectations then there is no desire for being a .. swinger! Maybe this is an .. illusion, but at least we can .. dream and think twice before acting.. At least not .. being at the same time with different people, cheating, take advantage of the other person’s affection and/or money, position.., living .. parallel lives.
Because we are not .. birds or animals with just instincts! This was my position. To be human beings. And may we be given the gift of feeling FILIA, AGAPE, EROS for the same person and have the happiness of the same LOVE in .. return.. Because without it we are … nothing. We are and feel ..half .. I am sure that just sex is not the path to Paradise. It is an act the … lasts only ’11 minutes’ and then you feel … lonelier than the loneliest human being thrown on Earth.

yes i too feel, a tinge of need for justification there. agree with you 100 % on what all u have written above, that sex cannot be an end in itself, if it is, then one needs to be look back. aboyt sex being sinful, it has been programmed into human psche by preists and politicians, it is easy to control people who have repressed sexual ‘desires’. a person who is sexually satited does not dream of waging wars, or for that matter even doing ‘hard work’.

love and am glad that u alos post here regularly, afterall what is life if not a prpcess of self discovery – thru interaction with others and then some solitude !

Dearest Heart, thank you. Very wisely expressed and you have covered all aspects.. Regarding this subject I am a … puritan.. you much have noticed! ;] I cannot imagine ‘raw sex’ without love and respect.. In ’11 minutes’ Paulo Coelho has covered many .. possibilities.
Animals do sex and reproduce, but some are faithful for a life to the same mate which shows an ‘intimacy’ beyond instincts. My point is that since we, humans, have logic and sentiments then if we are not using them every minute and in every action, then we … lower ourselves to the material planes only, the Elementals of the Earth..
If we cannot detach ourselves from the .. material world, then we ..do not have Harmony and Balance in ourselves. We are not ready for the ..transformation through love.
