Iran by Neda

My best friend in Iran, a doctor who showed me its beautiful culture when I visited Teheran in 2000, who fought a war in the name of the Islamic Republic (against Iraq), who took care of wounded soldiers in the frontline, who always stood by real human values, is seen here trying to resuscitate Neda – hit in her heart.

You can follow Iran in crisis : live here

UPDATE 23/04 10:50 PM: GOD WILLING, I WILL HAVE NEWS FROM MY FRIEND TOMORROW AFTER 2:00 PM, THEN I WILL POST HERE NOT ONLY HIS NAME, BUT ALSO OUR EXCHANGE OF EMAILS. FROM THEN ON, THIS BLOG WILL RETURN TO ITS ORIGINAL FORMAT, EXCEPT BY RUMI’S VERSES, THAT I WILL UPDATE DAILY, TILL THE END OF THIS WEEK.

  • Should twitter receive the Nobel Peace Prize?

Twitter, Paulo Coelho, Facebook, were instrumental in getting information out of Iran over these last few weeks that the evil Supreme Being has ordered a clampdown on what little democracy exists in Iran. Should they not be joint recipients of the Nobel Peace Prize?

Thank you Paulo for doing this political work. For me it was shocking and at the same time like a wonder, that you could help the truth on it´s way to the world.

Now everybody can see what had happened in IRAN.
We don´t have to have doubts what is the truth!
The regime of Ahmadinedjad is against humanity.
Power to the people of IRAN!
Yes, God is great. Allah illah! We should organize demonstration in Germany too.
Solidarity and worm feelings to the people of IRAN!!
    Stefan from Germany

  • I’m another Neda from Iran and interestingly I’m 26 too! They killed Neda Aghasoltan but as others have said she is alive more than ever, she breathes and lives in our soul and she calls for Iran’s freedon through our throats.

    YOU ARE THE BEST:Xx

  • thanks you so much.

  • Hi Mr. Coelho,
Thank you for your kind sypathy and condolence.
These days all we iranians only try to pass the time anyway hopelessly.
All the young people feel sad and upset. These days were like nighmares. Our tries to have some changes in our international politic position did not win, but unfortunately it got worse.
Furthermore the aggressive and unfair reaction of our militia towards the people was not believable. Even we can not believe that they are Iranian. Our media also ignore the people feelings and civil request and do not reflect our real demands and all the time try to call the protestert with impolite names such as miscreants amd rabbles.
Many people were killed like Neda. Neda became the symbol for us who was student, young, innocent and unarmed and only had civil request!

Thank you for attention! I hope the days of freedom of speech and white days of peace for all countries specially my dear Iran.

-I am sorry that the website which I introduced to you is written in Persian-

  • Thank you Mr.Coelho.Neda is livve in our mind and hearts

  • hi,
i am from iran. i have read all your books by now.
thank for your attentions about iran.

  • hi dear “Alchemist”`s writer
    just thanks for your attention.

  • Well, any updates?

    Interesting connections so far:

The guy who uploaded the first video to Youtube was ‘Hamed R.’ He had it sent to him by a friend of your doctor-friend (who was obviously accompanying him in Tehran that day). Your doctor-friend is described as being on the scene immediately after Neda was shot by a single sniper’s bullet. Can you ask your doctor-friend to ask his friend (who filmed the bloody aftermath) if he also filmed this video just before Neda was shot:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iu0NugRWcOM

    Thanks.

Now this Hamed R. pops up again. He was instrumental in sending Neda’s assassination viral around the globe. Not only did he upload the original video, he gave Neda a new name, age, alibi, history, reason for being in the area at the time and ‘martyrdom’. The story of how he ‘mistook’ Neda’s identity for another Neda Soltani is reported here:

    http://www.sott.net/articles/show/187730-Twitterati-How-the-wrong-Neda-photo-became-Iran-s-Face-of-Freedom-trade-

Now this could all be very innocent. We all make mistakes, not least on twitter where the flow encourages to just go with it…

But I dunno… this all just seems too scripted to me.

  • hi

  • Hi Paula,
I just can say thanks for carying!

All we can see here is the fact that people are selfish and for staying in power they can kill as many people.

    Thanks,
    Omid

  • Thank U! those big liers who control the public media and when their supporters kill innocent ppl in Iranian street here also try to mislead public openion. All Iranian ppl, including those who were beside her when she was shot told the press that she was shot by “Basij” which is a religious militia under Khamenie’s command, but here faceless Khoshbayan who most probably is one of those criminals among Ahmadinejad’s suporters says nobody knows who killed Neda.

  • I shout;
    I’m Proud to be IRANian!

  • Neda will stay in our mind 4ever.
    Thak you Mr Coelho

  • It means a lot to us!

    Thank you Mr. Coelho.

  • dear paulo coelho,my dear Hero
i want to say thank you for all attention that you have for my country, these days we need every singel supporter for our green cause, for obtaining freedom, democracy and happiness, which is the basic things in the life, for living.
we show the world that we are not terorist,we are not wild,we are green, kind, and chivalrous…we will die for our own freedom, for our homeland, even if we were in other countries.
i love all of your books, all of them and my personality made from those books, but the “piedra river” was the best one for me,and i love that solidarity you descriabe in that book, between a small group.
we are not a small group now,we are all ONE we are all NEDA,who was my sister, although ive never seen her.
i know that you believe on god,so please pray for us…we need it much more than so many other things.
God is with us,so we are always victor.
    God bless you

    • ati,

what is th basic issue, amidst all this confusion i am unable to understand what is the basic cause for the unrest, what are u poeple aiming for. what is your complaint. Neda getting killed is definately very sad, but i don’t think anyone aimed for her and shot her. when law enforcement authorities are faced with mobs, humanity starts sliding back away from lofty ideals which those laws are supposed to protect. one is reminded of past masscre of students in chaina’s tinammen square. such acts of oppression exposes the ruling regiems real feeling towards the very people they are oathbound to work for. a regime that does not ‘respect’ it’s people is bound to fall, as we have seen repeatedly across centuries.

freedom has never been won without sacrifices, and you too will win your freedom ( but are u chaps not alreday free, when u have a right to vote and choose your president ), insaallh !

      love
      aditya

  • Neda is not an Iranian girl. She is a girl from humanity, freedom, noble and peace. She is a symbol of women who seek even right with men. She is “Neda” and it means ” Call”. So she call for people to join her great goals

  • Thank you dear Paolo. I’ve been your fan for years and I love you even more.

  • thanks paulo
your books are in my weblog
a summary of 3 or four books in persian

  • the world don’t have less ugly
ugly in the world become more if human closed his eyes

  • it’s all an intigue! complicated condition in iran and some people who are trying to make it worse…!
by the way…i’m not that much interested in policy…cuz it’s fundamental a big lie! and i’m sorry for neda and all the people which are toys in the hands of politicians, from government or not!… but i am too much interested in your books..and i just want to thank you about it…wish you the best

  • hello and thanks.
this days for we iranian is bitter.
    very bitter.

    marde-mokhtasar.

    Thanks Paolo

  • Tonight on BBC Radio 4 (8pm BST, 1900 GMT) there will be a half hour report on Iran from John Simpson, BBC World Affairs Editor, who was recently expelled from Iran.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/8116825.stm
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00lmqhl

  • How does the Supreme Being justify breaking one of the most fundamental Islamic rights. Allah Almighty said – mn ktl nafsa beghayr nfsen fa kaannma ktl al nas gmeaan,, wa mn ahiaha fa kaannma ahiaa al nas gmeaan – which literally translates as

whosoever killed a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind.

We all felt the death of Neda.

  • Thanks to Robert for posting the link to the article in the Daily Mail. It brought tears to my eyes reading it. Had I realised it was in that day’s paper, I would have gone out and bought a copy.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1194641/YouTube-martyr-Neda-Agha-Soltanis-final-plea-shot-dead-Iran-rally.html

Reading the comments by Caspian Makan, fiancé of Neda, it brings home that she was a true Warrior of Light.

She didn’t believe that we always have to fight and quarrel and be violent and have death.

Neda only ever said that she wanted one thing, she wanted democracy and freedom for the people of Iran.

There’s only one thing (Iranians) must fight and that’s ignorance. And you don’t fight ignorance with a sword or a gun. You turn on a light.

    From twitter:

If an innocent girl gets shot halfway across the world, does she make a sound? Yes, the whole world hears her.

According to her boyfriend, Neda loved poetry, especially Iran’s Rumi and America’s Robert Frost.

Paulo featured Persian poet Rumi on his blog and ‘The Road Not Taken’ by Robert Frost features in The Winner Stands Alone.

  • Thank dear Paulo. you were Iranian favorite and now you are more favorite.
    wish to peace and freedom

  • dear sir

thanks alot for your concern. please tell the world about the bad conditions. All of us are sad, worry, angry but also hopeful. we will try our best. we will reach our goal.

  • hi, thx you alot for this picture although i couldn’t see it but before i saw it i’m so sad for Neda and we all fight instead Neda.

  • Dear Paolo,
Your valuable concern about what happens in Iran makes me respect you more than ever.

  • Thank u paulo … thank you.

  • hi.
in persian language, Neda= deaven voice.

  • make wish iranian to freedom in the name of neda
neda daeid to way of freedom thanke you for you dont forget iran iranian and freedom . have nice …

  • Dear Paulo,

I brought up in Iran reading your book. I don’t know anyone in Iran who have not read your books. Books that you talk about life, love, pursuit of happiness and…. which had vanished in my country by cruelty of the government under the name of religion!
And now look whats happening in my country.
I really appreciate your support and sending Neda’s voice to people around the world. No one can deeply feel the real sorrow in Iranians hart but Neda’s eyes may send the message.

    Thanks,

  • My point about Neda Salehi or Neda Agha Sultan ,that there’s no official investigate about her yet, is that with magnifying a News with media and press we never can find the truth.
But yes, with magnifying News you can start a media tumult battle between Islamic republic and west and put the challenge diplomacy between, in a harder way,
As I know, there are several innocent people have been murdered in the tumults by the protest and the police forces, about 10 days ago a little girl with a woman, in the way of kindergarten to their home, was murdered by the protest, and there’s no news magnifying of them.
Neda Salehi or Neda Agha Sultan have been shoted and it’s the only real information about her, We do not really know who shot at her, the police and the forces have claimed that they do not have any forces and mission on there and also the bullet is not belong to the police or other military systems and they have claimed that they have been forbidden to shot at protest .On the other hand the protest said that she was murdered by the police or other military system. And its just a doubt and A doubt is not truth.

  • just we can say : IRAN is neda and neda is all IRAN
