I’m happy to know about your friend Paulo!
this is a great gift on Saint John The Baptis’s day.
I also agree about “thank’s God there’s technology!”;
everything can be good or evil, depending on how we use it.
Yesterady I told my husband about your friend’s life, while images of Neda’s death apperared on the screen of my TV.
While I was speaking, I realized how “small” can be the world, so that I know something about the life of a man who lives so far from me, and I learned all those things, by another man (you Paulo), who lives far from me and that I personally never met.
The answer for me stands in this words:
1)problems are the same (some more serious, some less) all over the world;
2)there’s nothing in the end, that will left unfold, but all the Truth will be revealed.
So, as the Nobel prize Aung San suu Kii said, “let’s keep on going” and fightin, and supporting those people, letting know all the world that they’re not alone.
love, Chris.

I am very saddened once again, to a tragedy which has occurred in Armenia.
Two actors have died in a car crash and the cameraman is in vital condition.
My thoughts are with their families and loved ones!

Yes, as Karen says, Thank God for technology! Sometimes it seems so useless, and we reprimand ourselves: “There you go again, surfing the internet, playing on the computer, taking pics of senseless things with your cell phone….” But this same technology comes also as a great gift to society and to humanity in general.

I was thinking a lot about this yesterday, after first watching the video of Neda, also having just watched the clip (from the link in Paulo’s twitter bar) of the Senegal immigrant being abused by the authorities in the Madrid airport. The oppressors may have their guns and their bombs, but now the common people have new and perhaps even more powerful weapons, weapons of peace because they are weapons of truth. In an instant, via cell phone, we can give an update to our twitter or MySpace or Facebook account. We can update a blog. We can even include a photo or a video of what is really going on in the world. Depending on its relevance, this information then spreads like wildfire – suddenly, hundreds, then thousands, then tens of thousands of people see the truth with their own eyes.

It used to be, not so very long ago, that when there was turmoil within a country, civil unrest or revolution – even within a supposedly democratic country – the “truth” that was broadcast to the world was only the one fabricated and approved by those in power. The government controlled the media and it was difficult to get the real story. Today we are witnessing the rise of a new kind of democracy – a genuine democracy, propelled by the use and spread of technology. The cell phone, the internet, the computer – with these weapons of truth at the disposal of the masses it is becoming increasingly difficult for governments and those in power to control and censor what news gets out to the world.

Thank God for these weapons of truth, because, where truth prevails, peace is destined to follow. Oppression always relies on the element of untruth, it thrives on and protects itself with lies. But when truth prevails, these oppressive forces are weakened, they lose their grip on the minds of the masses, they are no longer able to control the outcome of the situation. Yes, the modern cell phone, with its silly little camera – it is an very powerful weapon!

Thank you, Paulo, for sharing the news of these unfolding events with us here on your blog. This blog, too, in this sense, has been transformed overnight into a weapon – a weapon of peace and of truth. In times of turmoil and oppression, information and the spread of it, is a highly valuable tool for transformation.

With much love, and deepest gratitude,
Savita

This is so true Savita. This is a great way to look at it, as a weapon when the situation deems necessary!
Your words bring hope!
Thank you love,
C.

Yes , it’s true Savita , the developments on the net of all the new means of communication are essential. We can learn in real time, act , exchange and be capable of providing immediate solutions.

I can discuss on videos that i receive on the net by men who are on the ground , I can see the life and feel the emotions of people who live there; I can understand the real (better than the information disseminated to the television)

Sites of trade are many , and are not all controlled or censored; but it must also keep his judgment on what we exchange…( It is difficult to apprehend a situation distant , and our possible solutions are not always adapted – i think of the gifts of bicycles in Africa where their use has been that short , because they had not the tools for repair etc – I also think of the manipulation as through the media: Always keep its discernment near its emotions to be effective … But I know that the sharing of current information on the net is our greatest wealth today –that God we connecting all across the world , so that we we understood better thus , and that we can be brothers and sisters , if near thoughts and heart , that the unit can we grow )

The video is ,in my opinion, an important tool because it gives a summary of the site , and can make feel the real needs and experienced men. So it is an important tool for the processing –of our hearts and of our minds , circa more wisdom , of understanding , of compassion , of love the next: AND IT IS SO IMPORTANT FOR THE WORLD , THE THIS WORLD ( BECAUSE THE SOLUTION IS NOT WE, IN ALL OF US )

What would happen if we stopped making plans all the time, stopped having our future days and nights filled so that we could actually live from a place of spontaneity, so that we could actually move toward our truth, toward what makes us feel inspired, passionate?

From my blog on the end of drama:

…The world is changing, old structures are falling apart, people are empowered and this is just the beginning. From this vantage point, it is amazing and quite beautiful. From this vantage point, free from having to take any one side, feeling self-righteous, or demanding justice I can finally imagine what the new earth is, that I am living on. I am free to see the potentials of a new world where we can connect almost instantaneously with each other, we can speak in the same language, and we can engage in productive and meaningful conversations regardless of our age, race, education, nationality, profession, religion, or wealth. From this vantage point, I can see that people do eventually wake up and speak their truth and their voice will be heard. From this sacred place, I decide to turn off the TV and trust the smile that is beginning to form on my face despite the tears in my eyes. I walk away from the drama feeling whole and blessed to be alive at this time in history.

Thank you,
Sherry

We must thank God for the technology we have which allows us to connect with each other very quickly and allows us to experience the fact that in this world of ours WE ARE ONE PEOPLE, WITH DIFFERENT LANGUAGES, CULTURES, BUT WE ARE ALL HUMAN BEINGS.
The gun is being used every day all over the world to express anger, ignorance, fear, and so many other emotions.
The truth is that anyone of us could be where Nela is now. Dead.

Brothers and sisters, let us stop being children. Let us grow up. Let us be PEOPLE OF PEACE, PEOPLE OF WISDOM, PEOPLE OF INTELLIGENCE, PEOPLE OF HOPE, PEOPLE OF FORGIVENESS, PEOPLE OF PATIENCE, PEOPLE OF UNDERSTANDING, PEOPLE OF ACTION, PEOPLE OF RESTRAINT, PEOPLE OF RECONCILIATION, PEOPLE WITH HEARTS AND MINDS WHICH WORK ONLY FOR PEACE.
Blessings everyone

Savita, what you say is so true! ” Let us take time to examine what means human being “.

If we cannot help the whole humanity, we can help the persons whom we cross in our daily life because we are human beings in front of the other human beings. What goes to a sense goes to the other too !
If we ask for listening, for understanding, for attention of the others we let us owe have the same level of requirement towards ourselves for the others.

For Neda, I hope that he has already left Iran and that he will call up this evening to reassure Mr Coelho…

Happy to read that your friend is fine. You know, what you are doing via your forces, your blog being one, is very supportive and participating in what your friend needs. That is how we can help here, us, far from this crisis and with our own forces. He has a great friend in you, a friend to whom he can confide, have confiance, be sure that you will respect his wishes. You are a model of support, help, empathy and friendship through that relation for me. Jojo

I like the form that you have given to your blog today, Paulo – focusing on the current events in Iran. Sometimes all of this elevated stuff that we converse and exchange ideas about – all the art, philosophy, theology, etc. – seems small and insignificant in relation to the larger picture life gives us. We use these tools (the art, the philosophy, the theology) in grappling for answers, but sometimes there are no satisfactory answers to be found. It is time to stop and just take in what is actually happening in the moment. For some of us, it is a time of action; for others, a time of analysis and reflection. For all of us, it is a time to consider what it means to be human.

Love,
Savita

Stille stund for to

Kom vær hos mæ i kveld
uten å tenk’ på morrada’n
La oss gløm det som va
og som itj har vært
for tida den kjem
som den kjem etter hvert

Kom og vær hos mæ no
i ei stille stund for to
Æ veit at tida strekk’ te
når det skjer det som skal skje

Kom og dans med mæ
i ei stille stund for to
Det e no og for bestandig
Mæ og dæ
Kom og dans med mæ
Kom og vær hos mæ no
Det e ei tid te å leit
ei tid te å finn
I ei stille stund for to

Kom vær hos mæ i kveld
og len dæ godt innte’
Og om du e still kan det

kjenn farmen fra mæ
og at hjertet mitt slår

Kom og vær hos mæ no

My heart goes out to the people of Iran, I pray for the families who are losing loved-ones in this courageous fight for their freedom. I hope all people in the world will join the iranians living in their countries in their protest marches so their voices will be heard. I hope for all countries in the world the people of this world will stand united and show the dictatorships in this world that they are wrong in taking the freedom of their countrymen and woman.
It breaks my heart when I think about the many people of this world suffering in so many ways and makes me feel very privileged and humble.
