A paradox. Where does man come from?

Alexandra September 6, 2009 at 7:01 am

Really, seems strange to me…If man is God creation, we suppose to be good thing !!!

Cats September 2, 2009 at 1:33 pm

YOu know
it’s good that you have posted this particular quote alongside the Healing WOunds Forum…

for me, personally… this was perhaps the one most important lesson I COULD learn, to make healing easier.

Yes, i’d say it is still a crucial ‘reality’ to reassure me … getting my life back on the straight and narrow ;o)

Reply

Cats September 2, 2009 at 5:06 pm

However, conversely, I do often feel that humans create a world and standards for us to adhere… not by what is right but rather based on what MIGHT be wrong.
WOmen’s sexuality – assuming we are all doomed since Eve, for example.

;o)

katie September 2, 2009 at 6:00 am

wrong-right – a concept:

- constructed by human mind
- changes over time
- its use & interpretation depends on the person’s “filter of
perception”
Remember: what does “wrong-right” means in the “Petit Prince”
story on each planet?

Evi September 2, 2009 at 5:22 am

Dear Paulo,
I have to disagree this time…

I think there are some things in this world with ‘absolute’ right and wrong, judged not just by result but also by intention.

When we ended up doing the wrong thing, either consciously or unconsciously, I think we shall not deny it …. we may not be proud of it, but we must admit it.

Only when we are managed to admit our ‘wrongs’, we can proceed to forgiveness (ask from God and ask harder from ourselves), then move on with the realization that despite how terrible our act was, it has given us lesson for life toward greater wisdom.

Thus, a thought.

Thanks …..

cheers,
evi

Evi, what is an example off an absolute right and an absolute wrong?

If someone is mean and selfish and deliberately acts with malice towards others, can you honestly know for certain that it is wrong for this person to be like this? I don’t think anything is a mistake. I believe in universal justice.

Karma is Karma baby!

That’s by Piet Hein, I have heard before: Here is some more, he was a genius to be sure…

Living is
a thing you do
now or never —
which do you?

The road to wisdom? — Well, it’s plain
and simple to express:
Err

and err again
but less

When I cannot comprehend (reason), or think that is wrong (judgment), or should not have been (victim), I then smile and my spirit tells my rational mind that he can rest because the Master is in a creative process for us, that we can go back to attend other things knowing that we will encounter the Truth for us or that we should just stop and pray for more Light. When I refer of “us”, “we”, I speak of body, spirit, reason, soul, all of them different but now in relation, whereas before there was conflict, domination, fighting, judgment, rejection of one part on the other. Yes, “we” know that even a stopped clock has the right time two moments in a day!

Nobody is perfect !

Is anything ever 100% wrong? A few thoughts:
Remembering the many times I have learned something very valuable through the trials and errors of my own actions and also, of others.
During a conversation last week my oldest son shared that he has learned from my mistakes. So, in that light, life has become better for him. I am thankful!

This also reminds me of a saying ‘don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater’. Sometimes I get junk email. Occasionally, I feel the need to look in this folder rather than simply deleting, and there is a heading or an image there in message, that really helps out that day.

Thank you Paulo, Much Love To All : ) xo

… Alice in Wonderland

Well, I’d hardly finished the first verse,’ said the Hatter, `when the Queen jumped up and bawled out, “He’s murdering the time! Off with his head!”‘

`How dreadfully savage!’ exclaimed Alice.

`And ever since that,’ the Hatter went on in a mournful tone, `he won’t do a thing I ask! It’s always six o’clock now.’

A bright idea came into Alice’s head. `Is that the reason so many tea-things are put out here?’ she asked.

`Yes, that’s it,’ said the Hatter with a sigh: `it’s always tea-time, and we’ve no time to wash the things between whiles.’

`Then you keep moving round, I suppose?’ said Alice.

`Exactly so,’ said the Hatter: `as the things get used up.’

`But what happens when you come to the beginning again?’ Alice ventured to ask.

Lovely quote Paulo! Thanks. For me this is quite profound.

Everyone has thoughts and emotions which they believe and act out. There can be no “right or wrong” when someone is believing what is true for them. Conflict occurs when someone believes something, and refuses to accept that another person may have a different truth based on their own experiences and understanding.

Surely the world would be more peaceful if we accept that right and wrong are always relative to our beliefs. For me I always feel far more comforted if someone listens to what is happening in my head and accepts it as real for me at the time; this is far more meaningful for me than apologies.

From now on when I am in a disagreement I will remember that it may be a simple matter of synchronising clocks!

Satora September 2, 2009 at 9:59 pm

Dear Daniel,

“Conflict occurs when someone believes something, and refuses to accept that another person may have a different truth based on their own experiences and understanding.”

So well said Daniel…it reminds me of the following quote from Thomas Merton- New Seeds of Contemplation:

“Do not be too quick to assume your enemy is a savage, just because he is your enemy. Perhaps he is your enemy because he thinks you are a savage. Or perhaps he is afraid of you because he feels that you are afraid of him. And perhaps if he believed you were capable of loving him he would no longer be your enemy.

Do not be too quick to assume that your enemy is a enemy of God just because he is your enemy. Perhaps he is your enemy precisely because he can find nothing in you that gives glory to God. Perhaps he fears you because he can find nothing in you of God’s love and God’s kindness and God’s patience and mercy and understanding of the weakness of men.

Do not be too quick to condem the man who no longer believes in God, for it is perhaps your own coldnes, and avarice, your mediocrity and materialsim, your sensuality and selfishness that have killed his faith.”

With loving kindness,

Satora

Dear Maria,
Thank you for sharing this thought and question.! What seems to turn out right for one, may not work out well for another.

There is the story of Jean Val Jean, who stole a loaf of bread during an economic crisis in the 1700′s. He paid a very high price.

Many are taught and may agree that it is wrong to steal. The only way to know what ‘I’ would do if starving, is to be in the same set of circumstances.

I like the words: sometimes, might, may be

Thanks again Marie! Love, Jane : )

Nice quote, although it’s not reflecting real life (in my opinion). Isn’t it quite dangerous having life being dictated by such quotes as it allows one to accept this as excuse from his own failures. I personally prefer to learn from these failures and try to do things better. Simply accepting it’s own – probably unlucky – situation is definitely not the right way to get absolution (…) but it helps at some desperate points.

This is an ancient Greek quote. Nothing is completely bad and we should ‘see’ and learn our lesson! I think that we sould see in everyone the ..Divine spark and be able to transform our pain to .. inner beauty.

Regarding the other quote and the answers above from my friends, I think again that protection covers the whole Creation, as long as we, the other souls, Divine plan and … destiny allow it!!

what if people entangled in the protection with us are coward and and do not want themselves to know GOD…and keep you too away from taking risk…like coward, so that they are not harmed.

should we go ahead and take risk..n put all of our loved ones in risky situation coz ” I ” wanted to know GOD more than just being a philosophical speculation…and they were happy BY JUST BEING PROTECTED…
WONT IT BE SELFISH ACT??

So true, I believe. With faith, God will offer protection. He provides us with the free will and disposition to extend ourselves; to take chances and push our boundaries. Without risk, we fail to grow. Without change, we become stagnant. Would a Father delight in seeing His children fail to mature, learn and grow?

Reply

Heart August 31, 2009 at 4:48 pm

Hrm, this quote one more time? Are you trying to tell us something Paulo?

One of the issues I have with taking risks is that while my personality is quite masculine, a go getter type, I am a woman, and try to behave like one, with a more hold-myself-back-attitude. For instance I like to be head hunted for a job, instead of applying for one. Trying to find out what God has in mind for me, I prefer when He invites me on a path, instead of me chasing after His will. In love relationships, I have never called a man I’m in love with first. I am very superstitious, and wouldn’t ruin a possible chance of something wonderful, by taking on the man’s role.

I probably miss out on a lot of opportunities this way, but I don’t think God ever retreat? God is there every step on the way, and if He wants me to sit still, then this is what will happen. Sometimes I feel like being on retreat myself, which has always turned out with some positive result. You often talk about Waiting for the Right Moment, and looking at my life, many Delays have really made a lot of sense. For instance, I didn’t marry till I was 40 years old. But when I did, the man chased me like nobody else, and was very convincing that he really wanted me to be his wife. My professional development has taken many turns here and there, but this too seem all to come together very clever, to fulfill a kind of purpose I see in my life.

God doesn’t retreat from me, but frequently puts me on retreats. Sometimes I’m bored to tears, and then realize, the rest is good for my Soul.

I don’t know…what is your own thoughts on this quote Paulo?

2/According to which criteria ?

3/I’m imagine if I’m an Eskimo of the Antartique and that I do not believe in the karma : that is it going to be supposed to be for me ? ;-o)

4/But where is hides the truth ? (Ô^Ô)

Hi Daniel,

I believe there is an absolute right and wrong for certain cases in this world.

What about a burglar who commits a murder? … Let’s say the house owner caught him in the act….

Of course, when we drilled down to this burglar’s background, we could probably dig something that might arouse symphaty – an abusive parents or whatever. But I think that’s as far as it goes… a symphaty and probably an act to ‘heal’ his wound.

Despite everything, his act of murder is wrong. Karma is indeed karma, the universe will see to that, and life goes on… but that doesn’t change the right/wrong perspective over what he had done.

evi

Put your attention on a stranger somewhere (like a park or shopping center). With attention on the person, repeat the following to yourself:

Just like me, this person is seeking some happiness in his/her life.

Just like me, this person is trying to avoid suffering in his/her life.

Just like me, this person has known sadness, loneliness and despair.

Just like me, this person is seeking to fulfill his/her needs.

Just like me, this person is learning about life.

Paulo’s quote really fits to the Healing Wound theme … I agree :o).
It looks to me as if Paulo has set up his whole website with “tools” :o)

Have you seen the last entry “Magic Mountain” & looked at the cartheic philosophy using his quote and all the great comments from Healing Wound …

What is the onsequence of not taking care of wounds and not working on healing?
For me it looks as if I define my own cartheic philosophy, i.e., excluding me from experiencing the beauty of life.

Hi Evi,

Thank-you, I see your perspective clearer now. There is so much at play in the universe that I find it hard to get my head around the whole concept of right and wrong.

I don’t think a person’s background is ever an excuse for evil behaviour, but for some reason it seems some people must learn their lessons the hard way, so whatever karmic lessons the burglar has to learn in this life must play out, however horrific, and the cycle will continue until this lesson is leaned, and the victim in this case is in the same position.

It is important for me to believe in universal justice, it just seems right to me, it is hard to explain. Personally I choose to try and feel what there is to feel and confront my Karma this way rather than act it out through violence or any other way. There have been times when I have been beaten, treated badly, put down. Through these experiences I am better able to know peace, compassion and love, but only if I pay attention to what’s happening.

Murder is wrong, and challenges my belief in the right and wrong in the universe, but I still believe.

I am reminded of the story of Angulimala, a Buddhist story of a man who is a brilliant student, becomes a serial killer, and then achieves enlightenment. It is an interesting story, you can download it here if you are interested: http://www.buddhanet.net/ebooks_childrens.htm

According to Wikipedia, the The Human Condition is defined by the following three paradoxes:

1..Our imaginations can take us anywhere, dragging our physical bodies along.

2..We are capable of the kindest, most noble things, but we are also capable of the most horrible and terrifying things.

3..Humans hope for everlasting life, but are always inventing new ways to destroy each other.

yepp….

in context to hitler and nothing being absolutely wrong, i will see it as even at his worst hitler was not beyond redemption, oh ! how glorious had it been had hitler abandoned his hate ( u know originally it was directde against that chap who refused him admission in that art school, wonder what would have happned had hitler been admitted there and trained to become a painter, but as u said everything has a purpouse a destiny to fulfill ) and faced the tribunals, repented and faced the gallows with remorse on his face. anyway, noithing is absolutely one sided in this world.

a good question ” how did a civilised nation allowed ‘hitler’ to happen”

yes let lessons be learnt here. Germans are civilised people, very civilised, their engineering is the best in the world, this must be due to something, and they are mostly noble, my views, although i have never been aquainted with any german personally, i have been a student of history for long, and also enginnering. without a shadow of doubt germans qualify to be vacalled civilised in true sense of teh word, not absolutely civilised but better than most nations, or qt least equal to the best. then what went wrong. Hitler ( not the man, the phenomenon that we remember the person for ) was not born the day he became in charge of gernmany, he was born the day an unfair and unjust ‘treaty’ was thrust upon the defeated german people in first world war. the humiliation heaped upon them, in desparation hitler happned, with support from intellegentia, incidently hitler was exact opposit of what a normal german stands for, tall, proud, competent and compassionate ( though very quite ), hitler was hort, of poor personal appearances, everything about him was ungerman like. In desparate times, even teh best make mistakes, hitler was the mistake germans made when faced with teh humiliation.

let’s hope there are no conflicts in future, even if it happnes let teh winners show due respct to the loosers, or else, scores will get settled sometime or the other.

you can’t say hitlers germany allowed the holocaust, because they were feeling ‘oppressed’ after the first world war..
plus.. who started that first war huh?

maybe we are reading different history books ;o)

Dear Annie,

conflict resolution is not easy.
Maybe you should sit down with the “old” Annie and smoke a peace pipe?

Dear Annie,

I went to my bookcase and got out “The Pilgrimage” and opened the book randomly to page 120…

“…But agape is much more than liking. It is a feeling that suffuses, that fills every space in us and turns all our aggression to dust.” (Petrus)

Dearest Annie,

no you have not gone off the subject at all…actually you just took your first puff from the peace pipe…and be assured you will make peace with “her” and move on without any fear…it may take some time but the metamorphosis is already taking place…just like a butterfly…

With loving kindness,

Satora

Dear Annie

“Going to war is not a sin. It is an act of love.” English version.

I am not sure I understand this statement correctly by Petrus. It seems to me that an act of war is an act made as a result of the absence of love from someones life. (Don Suero de Quinones as an example)

Hitler was violently abused as a child, and to me was so filled with anger and rage from being abused, that he punished and inflicted his hurt onto the entire world. (Emotional wounds again)!

There was a big magical battle in defence against Hitler. (which truely was an act of love in my opinion).

But on a normal day to day basis, I agree with Petrus, an adversary is rarely evil.

Well, Annie, there were too much rain in your past… And that is good that now you are ‘new’ Annie – sitting near piano with rainbow keys, not standing under the rain without umbrella… :)

Dear Annie, I don’t understand them when I write them either! Tomorrow might be different but today I think it means take away all the labels and names, then you can understand with your heart instead of your head. Also with regard to light and darkness, for me they are two parts of the same thing. It is impossible to live your life from birth to death entirely in light. So I guess it is also about feeling more than just a physical sensation, going deeper, and loving both equally because they are ultimately the same.

So yes! See the beauty, hear the melody, smell the flowers, taste your lover’s lips. Then shut your eyes, cover your ears, close your mouth, and understand them. When my lover touches me, I know what it feels like to be touched. When she takes it away I understand what it does to my heart.

Thank you so much Annie, now I think I understand my poem! :-)

Dear Annie, Aditya,

This world contains light and dark, but even at night we have the reflections of the Moon and stars from the Sun.

Without the Sun of course, there would be no life on Earth, all would be darkness…

Dear Satora and Annie

I have just had a sign that may relate to this posting…. a butterfly came into my house just now, and couldn’t get out.

She moved towards the light of the door on window in vain, then turned away further into the house (again in vain), I turned around and she has disappeared, she found her freedom.

Lots of love to you both
