  • nice interview!! People turn to money for fear, i see some people willing to die for money, what a waste…

    So art should be free?
Maybe a balance bcs the artist needs to live as well…!?

I don’t think there can be a Love story btw 3 people though. I think there’s one real love who’s your only other half, or did you ever witness it differently?

  • Wow that was amazing… I love to see interviews of Paulo. It’s funny I had a dream that Paulo came to visit my home last night… I come on here and there is an amazing video. This is a miracle for me today. (I have been spending too much time playing a game online with my character Azzurro, he is a ninja/warrior at the moment!) I had an idea for a wonderful online community; as I always do. P.S. I can’t wait for the new book on Paulos life to come out. I want to be shocked, I want to laugh and I want to cry!

  • The interview was brilliant and your responses and personal journey is truly inspiring. I totally agree about your call to instill the spirit of rebellion in our souls. You are ahead of your time and a flame that lights the minds and hearts of many. Thank you.

  • Wonderful! Very inspiring. (Though I wish that interviewers wouldn’t interrupt people while they are talking. What is the point of asking a question if you don’t want to pause and listen long enough to hear the answer?)

I particularly like the part on writing being a “simple art” and the four basic story types (as per Borges). Having taken an MFA in creative writing, I think that I and my classmates were taught just the opposite - taught that writing was something soooooooo complicated that the thought of attempting a novel appeared daunting, if not impossible. Hearing you say that storytelling is “simple,” Paulo, is very refreshing. It reminds me that we needn’t make things complicated that need not be complicated at all. It also reminds me that storytelling is a natural art - something which human beings have freely engaged in since the dawn of humanity. Why should it be held up on a level with rocket science of brain surgery? Why should an aspiring writer look at novel writing as a feat so complex that only a genius can achieve it? What a self-defeating outlook that is!

I really enjoy your honesty, Paulo, and your humility. You have written so many amazing books and are so widely published - it would be easy for you to say: “Look at me. Look what I have done - look what a genius I am!” But no - you say writing is a “simple art,” thereby encouraging others who would like to try it too.

    Thank You!
    Savita

  • I enjoyed watching and listening to you being interviewed Paulo..One thing that stands out for me is the last question from a young mother who wants to know what you think she should teach her young child…and your answer is “rebelion”…I agree and you are right that we are becoming more and more politically correct…
    Thanks..You’re awesome!…

  • Thank you Paulo to have shared an instant with us all. I like very much your sentence “teach the flame of the rebellion to your children”. I believe sincerely in the taste of rebellion without hate. Thank you for “awakening” us and shaking us a bit…”life is not a long quiet river” :))

  • I missed the interview yesterday because I was having dinner with someone, our ongoing discussion on how to bring about sustainable development. I was delighted to see this today. Another grain of sand to add to the mountain, until we have that avalanche of recognition, I call it the 60/40 world, not 90/10 or 80/20, but 60/40! Paulo, you inspire me, thank-you!

    peace and love

  • Thank you Supi for sharing this great CNN interview! I liked the modern set up of it, the combination of walking in Paris, of being in your home and then asking you questions on a big screen. So praise to your reporter and producer too.

Oh, as always what you say are ‘Gold nuggets’. Let me voluntary for the 3 readers who will always keep reading you, and I’m one who appreciate visibility and who cannot wait to see your books transferred into motion picture. Still, I haven’t had the pleasure to watch the end result of the Experimental Which project. I cannot imagine how the various clips can be added together to one story..I’m curious about it.

Let me comment on your answer that we turn to money and not to faith to handle our fears. It’s funny you say so. You say you do not believe in God, which I find impossible to believe is the truth about you, from all the faith I see in your novels. Believe or not believe, you ARE an UN ambassador of Peace, as also mentioned, and as Alexandra I love your outlook on art and writing that goes beyond language towards acceptance for any cultural expression. I would like to hear more about your four ways of story telling, the first being Love story, then Struggle for power. I didn’t get it all.

    Love and adore you,
    Heart

    Cristina Reply:

That’s the same for us too, in Italy!
    Congratulations for the interview Paulo,
By the way, a question both for you Paulo and for Thelma, who has a great culture (both her and her ancestors in Greece).
what is the meaning of The Sun in religion?
Primitive people thought that the Sun was God (together with other natural subjects, such as The Moon, The Sea, The Earth, etc.).
    In ancient Egypt, a king named Akenathon made a big “revolution” thinking that there was only one God:the Sun;
He was punished after his death, by erasing his name from all writings.
In Cristian times, up to the Middle Ages, all churches were built in direction west-east, in order, they said, to look to Jerusalem.
This is not true, because for german or polish peole, Jerusalem was in the opposite direction (south west).
The only thing which is in common to all these countries, is that the Sun always rise at east.
So, do you think it is possible that there is a link between the figure of the Sun and God?
maybe i’m completely wrong, but it’s a doubt I have.
    Thank you
    Chris

  • Namaste,
I went “here” and got nothing. I don’t think they post it until the next day’s “connector” is shown. I’m not sure… maybe I just messed up… but I did find it at:

    http://edition.cnn.com/CNNI/Programs/connect.the.world/

In case someone else has the same problem.
