Miracles

by Paulo Coelho on October 29, 2009

Miracles only happen to people who believe in miracles. But to many people, when something magical happen they say “oh its just a coincidence”, or “this is something that we can explain “…

So i’m going to use this oppurtunity to ask to share miracles that happened to you to encourage others to believe in the Extraordinary.

Thank you very much,
Paulo

miracles come like a breeze.
if the mind is too busy, one just does not get it.
miracles teach.

it feels as if animals are attracted to me. it became obvious when I lived in a town that has a high stray pet population … stray cats just started to have meetings close to my home. two just moved in. one of the stray cats got badly injured one day and dragged himself to my home by climbing up stairs with a broken leg (he recovered well). some stray dogs changed sides when they saw me on the other side of the road walking and followed me. an opossum mom got her baby on my patio.

after moving to the north, something similar has happened here, too. the moose sleeps with her young on my property close to the house. a little dove that was kept as a pet, flew away from its cage, landed on my patio, exhausted & dehydrated. I just could take it in my hand … what it hardly allowed the owner to do. I passed a fox in my car & we both stopped & looked at each other. another time, I passed a canadian lynx on a lonely road who continued to walk as if it was just normal to share an empty road with a car.

my latest miracle for this winter: a chukar partridge, looks like a little wild chicken, more walking than flying. its homeland is eurasia. people keep them here for food or training falcons hunting. every day, there it now stays in front of my door, looks around … its little feet all over my driveway. when it gets dark it eats one more time, walks on my short walkway & then just flies to ?? its night stay.

these animals have become messengers. I try to catch the atmosphere that they bring with them, then reading about their totem qualities. overall, it just feels as if I step into something that has been already familiar to me.
what it all means? I leave it open. I just know that there is a way of communication that is important for me.
and I make sure that it is also a good event for them, with respect.

I have witnessed many miracles, mostly through prayer. I was delivered from smoking, my mother from her backbrace, a child made well, my family surviving accident and even death. God hears us and moves in our lives in miracles more often than we know, we take so much for granted. To remember to give thanks is the most important part of a miracle.♥

I met a miracle several years ago, not because of what he’s overcome, though. I call this person a miracle for the mere fact that I met him, out of all the people in the world and all the places I could have stood. I stood there, with him. I just think its amazing, the precious moments we’re given and the willingness to cherish them for everything they mean. One moment standing beside him in a wealth of understanding was worth a lifetime, so rare was the chance. I wanted this person to know that I’m fully aware of the gift he gave to me because in him, I met my spiritual likeness. It will never happen again.

Suela,

My friend just found out he has lung cancer. I do believe in miracles and the power of prayer. Jesus said we have the ability to heal. I’ve been holding him in the light myself, however, I’m new to this. He is a wonderful person who has gone through so many losses already in his life. He found love again this year with a high school friend, and now this. In the 1980′s his wife and daughter died in a car accident. I was hoping you could pray for him. He lives in the US, Montana to be precise.

I deeply wish and hope he gets well soon.
I will pray with you.
I would like to know his name(not surname).
Thank you.

Suela September 8, 2010 at 4:54 am

I have experienced miracles.I have seen the bridge between visible and invisible. I have prayed for people and the miracle happened ( cure of cancer and illnesses for example). I have been “in the middle”, between God and people (when I prayed for a certain “thing”).Each time I ask for help and pray for it ,I always see it fulfilled.
I have so many stories and so many facts that i have lost count.I have lived the extraordinary (which i don’t think that there is such thing as”extraordinary”, I believe that it is a part of the nonstop reality that we do not know..yet).
Christians in Greece, believe as you know, in God-Christ-The Holy Spirit and Saints. We have a huge list of stories about Saints and their miracles.
My guardian Saints are three and they are called : Rafael-Eirini-Nikolas.These are their names after consecration (except little Eirini which was twelve and this was her secular name). They lived 500 years ago in Lesvos , a Greek island in Aegean Sea.They had α martyrdom by Otτomans.
After 500 years they “showed up” and through time ,everyone knows them. The amazing thing with these three , is that They appear to you in their real – human form (and other forms too such as visions and dreams).
When I say that they appear in their human form ,I mean that you can see and touch them.As we speak today, thousands and thousands of believers all over the world have experienced their presence and miracles. They have “shown themselves” to groups of religious people and atheists at the same time( to 50 people for example). They always have a reason for their actions.Their main “practice” is to cure illness (anything)so they are called “doctors”.They proceed operation while you are asleep and the next day ,when you wake up ,you can see the signs of operation on your body (this is a true story , I know plenty of them)but they also help people in their everyday problems. You might see Them in the taxi, they introduce themselves to you and then help you for example(this is another true story).Self-suggestion you might think..well look at these.
They appear to people who never heard of such Saints.Just show up, introduce themselves and then declare the purpose of their “visit”.
There are many testimonies (detailed ones by name, surname ,address etc. among them myself too) that you can verify if you are interested in a investigation.
Miracles have happened to non religious people and not christened too (they believed though – conversion).
I have prayed and “practiced” rituals (if this term is permitted)with *Holy oil and Holy water to people while sleeping and relatives that lived in another country.
The most amazing thing is that I’ve prayed for those who never knew me or what I did. They are cured from cancer ,and till today they do not know how (but I do).
It wasn’t me. Just Them, because the prayer and the **”ritual” was based on Their Holy water- Holy oil and words.(I approached the above examples concisely.)
So I start to wonder ,when something unexpected and good happens to me, “Is it a coincidence or someone else did something for me, in my ignorance”?.
That’s a good question.Τhink about it next time.
I do not want to pall you any longer. But if you have the curiosity to learn more stories of what Τhey can do, and what me and others have experienced , I would gladly tell you some from time to time..
Thank you.

* Holy Oil is for cure and Holy water is for blessing.
** thε correct word for “ritual” is “church”.Church here, is the actions that you proceed during a prayer.

Hi Suela,

I read your comments here and trust in what you have written. I am going through a phase of life for which i need just prayers and a miracle. I believe in the almighty but I also believe that paryers for others are accepted faster than for urself. So would be really really grateful if you could pray for me that I get what I want and trust me it will make many more people happy if fullfilled.
Please pray for me Suela, i really need prayers.

Thanks,
Priya

When someone who hate becomes someone you love unexplainably. My dad hurt me with his lies and distance and one day I prayed and trusted in God that he’d change things. I called, he answered, things are good.

When someone who hurt you becomes the one who helps you most.

When absolutely random people enter your life and somehow have the answers that you seek. Miracle!

They happen everyday.

Miracoli!

I went to this page because in October 2009 I left my greatest miracle behind me and the very first post I read was about miracles… I would say this is a coincidence but it is probably not… So, if it is not what does it mean? 2009 was really a miracle and I should do everything possible and impossible to get it back or should I desperate because I let my miracle go?

miracles happen right now, all the time. your question is about seeking the past, or being sad for what was in the past. enjoy your miracle while it happens, but just open your eyes and turn the corner and there will be another !

I see miracles almost everyday at my work place..a cerebral palsy center. Children making efforts to crawl, to stand, to walk, to learn, to grasp, to chew, to swallow, to tap the computer switch, to smile with a twitch, to compete with one another, to care for one another, to hug, to wish good morning, to discuss movies, to do many things despite the challenges they face. These are but a few miracles I see at my work place. We do all these at ease, thus we take these for granted. Life ceases without miracles. Miracles are hopes!

Once, in a dream, I asked (God) to show me the power of love. Then, such a beautiful, powerful, overwhelming feeling swept over me. And I knew, that as a mortal being, I could only sense the beginning of this feeling. I had to limit it because I felt that it would consume me. It was miraculous.

Thank you Paolo, for all of your beautiful inspiration.

They embody some desires. Each person has his own way of prayer. Strangely enough, but all you can find an explanation … even miracles, we are intelligent creatures and should understand that such a miracle. But then, they are miracles to believe in them.

Mon miracle?

Me an pasado muchas cosas, tantas q no acabaria de escribir. jeje

I was just scanning this posting and was reminded of what I once read: that if spring happened every 100 years, we would call it a miracle. All around us are miracles. How do people fall in love, long for each other’s company, for time together to talk, to laugh, to cry, to grow close, and ultimately feel the desire to join their bodies in sexual union and from this act is born a new human being with a unique personality who neither looks or acts exactly like anyone who has gone before? What a miracle! And yet because it happens all the time, some people say too often and cry out to stop the population bomb, it is considered natural. Almost forty years ago my eyes were opened to the fact that everything around from majestic mountains to sparkling streams to the tiniest bud or flower to the singing, flying bird is a miracle that had to have a designer, and that He is loving, kind, concerned, and not the Great Judge in the Sky we so often feel from rigid religiosity we are brought up with, a religion that is based on a set of rules to where the letter of the law kills and actually shuts up the Kingdom of Heaven against men. On the other hand, I have experienced some outstanding miracles in my life that have shaped my life that I will try to share in posts here from time to time.

I do not know is it the place to share my little miracles. It happened when I was a girl of 10 to 12 years and it happened when I was going to sleep. I had feeling that I was falling, but it was very short falling. And I was falling in myself and become little spot or very small ball. Than I was flying. It was very fast flying, and always in the same part of my town (not in the part where I live at that time: latter we build our house there). That was so special feeling, at some time it scare me, but it was so good. I am sorry becouse I lost that at my teen years. Maybe it sleep in me today :D, but I do not know that. Oh, I must say that I was not sleeping, and because it was so good I try not to sleep. Also I had some other happenings, but maybe some other time. But, I am sure that extraordinary is always presen around us, but we are blind for that. And extraordinary is not “extra”, it is just ordinary, but we forget that what we know hundred and hundred years ago. I am sorry for my bad english. I hope you can understand what I want to say. Thanks :) .

in college, i studied interior design. at senior year, i chose eyes and perception for my thesis project. (i always liked picking some abstract ideas for my project just to impress teachers. haha. i have to admit i do not even know its meaning.) then during the process, there were two strange things happened. on a day almost close to the final presentation, i went into a book store and there i was drawn to an art book of mori mariko. and i was a bit shocked to find some of her works are exactly the same. so i now believe there are some other people who are thinking the same thing as me. then the second strange thing happened on the final presentation. when i presented a short slide show for an introduction, some audience whispered it was an eye. and i was surprised to find a picture of an eye made of cloud in a big blue sky. i was potting all pictures without noticing it. but i thought it was nice because i felt like me and artwork became one.
thanks for reading

Though he knows his limits, he goes to far
No fortune is too distant for him not to grasp for
His power is his faith, theres nothing more worthy to fight for
Again and again, that is the reason he is a warrior.
Full song is on youtube. <3

last night he left without looking back and closed the door with a bang, one of those bangs that tells you he won’t step through it again. This morning i biked through Erasmussteet and found two rainsoaked playingcards: king of hearts and nine of clubs, meaning that i lost my king of hearts. Now i knew that, didn’t i, i was on the other side of the shut door after all. Still it feles like it only became true with the cards. Is this magic or just the daily flow of signs and symbols the world provides us with telling us that the path is the right one?

The miracles continue in my life!!!!; God keeps on sending me more signals. I finished reading the Fifth mountain this mourning, at first I thought it was a little bit slow for me and the old English was just too much. Well after a while it got more and more intense and at the end I decided I loved the book. Thanks to Paulo for allowing God to communicate to us through him.
And back to what I started. Today, as every Sunday, I went to church and the entrance song was one I love because it reminds me of my very first retreat; very spiritual God is talking to me I thought. Well then the first reading, can any one guess???? Yes!!!! 1st of Kings, 17: 10-16 and goes like this:
In those days, Elijah the prophet went to Zarephath.
As he arrived at the entrance of the city,
a widow was gathering sticks there; he called out to her,
“Please bring me a small cupful of water to drink.”
She left to get it, and he called out after her,
“Please bring along a bit of bread.”
She answered, “As the LORD, your God, lives,
I have nothing baked; there is only a handful of flour in my jar
and a little oil in my jug.
Just now I was collecting a couple of sticks,
to go in and prepare something for myself and my son;
when we have eaten it, we shall die.”
Elijah said to her, “Do not be afraid.
Go and do as you propose.
But first make me a little cake and bring it to me.
Then you can prepare something for yourself and your son.
For the LORD, the God of Israel, says,
‘The jar of flour shall not go empty,
nor the jug of oil run dry,
until the day when the LORD sends rain upon the earth.’”
She left and did as Elijah had said.
She was able to eat for a year, and he and her son as well;
the jar of flour did not go empty,
nor the jug of oil run dry,
as the LORD had foretold through Elijah.

WOW!! I was up the hill again like I did during that retreat two years ago. I told the priest and he said “it must be a sign”
Good night to you all and blessings for the week.

A miracle?
A friend of mine needed a book for an exam she had on monday.
It was weekend and all the bookstores where already closed, so I told her maybe she could find it in my universities’ library.
( I just said it to calm her down as it seemed she was very very stressed and mad at her self for not thinking about it earlier)
So we went, knowing she followed a very different study an a whole different lefel, not university. Anyhow we entered the University libarary, which has over 1000 computers and we just naturally chose one of the middel rows to sit behind a computer to search the catalogus to see if that book was available there.
Wel I could see Immediatly that they did not have it on the list BUT all of a sudden my friend looked at two seats next to us (it was sunday we were the only ones in the library), she saw a book she took it and YES IT WAS the book she needed!!!!!
It was a book which had marks inside, so it meant it definately wasnt from the library. So we took it, thinking it was there specially for us?? Strange dont you think??
Anyhow this is called stealing, however there was nobody and we brought it back later. But at that moment we felt something strange , like something wanted us to take it and it was there especially for us. Afterwards I thought about it and Im confinced that it happened because of my positivity. I did not expect it, but at least i wanted to TRY……and it worked

Never lose hope!

I first heard this song, The Miracle, by Queen, around age 12 and was absolutely hooked from the start. It seemed so strange that such things were being talked about… as NEEDING to happen. I remember a slight anxiety as I contemplated that I was entering a social reality where these things NEEDED to happen.
The Miracle.

So my faith has helped to understand the necessity of miracles and their role in God’s plan.

Yet this has not stopped me from looking at Miracles from the point of view of the mainstream…
For example, take the word miracle…
or phrase, it’s a miracle!
We say it with such disbelief… as if we do not expect anything to happen.. anything good to happen. Perhaps we are not true believers in the sense that we do not trust that miracles will and can occur/happen.

Or take the irony often tinged within the phrase.. it’s a miracle! Again, we live on the side of disbelief.. when something does happen, we still adopt our stance/position from that of the pessimist or unbeliever.
[NB: not that I am saying optimists only believe].

So let’s embrace miracles.

remembering the words in the Bible where we hear and learn that love and faith CAN move mountains.

Let’s remember that as we approach Christmas.. it is not to dread the endless shopping or family conflicts so well proposed to us by myths or our own laziness…
let’s [re]focus on this time for what it is…
the celebration of the birth of Jesus..
a CELEBRATION of a MIRACLE ;o)

The Miracle

“If every leaf on every tree
could tell a story that would be
a miracle.

If every child on every street
had clothes to wear and food to eat
that’s a miracle.

If all God’s children could be free
to live in perfect harmony
it’s a miracle.

…………..
The miracle by Queen

Every drop of rain that falls in sahara desert says it all
Its a miracle
All gods creations great and small
The golden gate and the taj mahal
That’s a miracle
Test tube babies being born
Mothers,fathers dead and gone
Its a miracle

Were having a miracle on earth
Mother nature does it all for us
The wonders of this world go on
The hanging gardens of babylon
Captain cook and cain and able
Jimi hendrix to the tower of babel
Its a miracle

The one thing were all waiting for is peace on earth – an end
To war
Its a miracle we need – the miracle
The miracle were all waiting for today

If every leaf on every tree could tell a story that would be a
Miracle
If every child on every street had clothes to wear and food to Eat
That’s a miracle
If all gods people could be free to live in perfect harmony
Its a miracle

Were having a miracle on earth
Mother nature does it all for us
Open hearts and surgery
(wonders of this world go on)
Sunday mornings with a cup of tea
Super powers always fighting
But mona lisa just keeps on smiling
Its a miracle it’s a miracle it’s a miracle

That time will come one day you’ll see when we can all be

It feels right to start posting again, I have something to share with you all. Gene was right (remember from your book the Valkiries?) I tried posting last night, my computer froze. Then I got bored from being on the internet. I purchased two of your books on Saturday, one the Valkiries, the second one I can’t remember. Our local library already ran out of Paulo Coelho’s for me, I read all of the ones available. I like the translations to Spanish better than the ones to English. I think it’s because Spanish is my mother tonge and I can “feel” better in this language. For now though, given that I live in the states, I thought it was good to be able to find Paulo’s books even if they are in English.
Anyhow, I started reading the Valkiries on Saturday night. I did not go beyond the first few lines. I’ve been doing farm town on Facebook and this has taken much of my time. My husband came accross some pretty shocking videos on myspace, not worth the time to discuss this though. He thinks the internet is the source of all evil, I told him we have to counteract with our faith and love of God, Christ and the Holy Spirit. We should not ignore but spread the word of love. After this though, strange things started happening at home. Did we open a portal? I am always cautious about opening doors that I should not open, not to play with things I do not understand. (A break here, my thoughts started wandering away for a minute, someone asked me a question and I lost my train of thought) Again Gene is right, I should not talk about what I was about to mention, my Angel keeps me from doing this. And speaking of angels, back to the happenings at home. My son started “seeing” beings. I did myself when I was 3 years old, he is older though (7), and he has a stronger sense of fear. I became fearful myself when he started telling me about this. I am catholic and my mother always insists we have Holy water at home. I started praying with intensity for protection and strength, against all of those things not belonging to God. I then sprayed the holy water throughout the house. Minutes later, a call from the Sherif.
My husband had left his truck at the house we have at a different town and when a sherif deputy drove by, the lid to the tool box was open. He then got down to close the lid and found the keys to the truck in the box. We are trying to rent this house so there is a rental sign with our new phone number on the window next to the truck so it was easy for the deputy to get a hold of us, he then told me there was a burner on at the house, my husband had left it on.
I feel God urged me to pray at that moment and that lead to the following events. Now, the fear did not subside, I went and talked to our priest and got blessed medals that I buried in the four corners of our property. My son and I did a praying to Saint Michael in every corner and then got “energized” by the beautiful sunshine and gave Thanks. Now, I should add this all happened on November the 1st, a very special day for us Catholics as we celebrate all Saints. Today we remember and honor the death.
Another point is that Saturday I slept in my son’s room and the fear had not subsided yet, all this time I’ve been praying for strength and courage and I’ve reason with my self and finally came to have more courage. I also thought that it was illogical for me to have such fear and not have enough faith. How can I believe in something evil with such intensity and not have enough faith in Jesus to overcome this fear? It did not make sense, so I made my decision. That night I “sensed” I should change the position of my son’s bed and I did right away the following day. It feels much better now and he slept well all night.
After doing all this I noticed a lot of buteflies and deer around our property. Two deer were sleeping in our backyard. It was such a beautiful peaceful sight.
Now after reading the Valkaries it all makes sense and I thank God and our angels for the protection and guidance they provide.

Wenn wir richtig überlegen… selbst Zufälle laufen nach genauer Planung.

Es fällt schwer an Wunder zu glauben, weil sie außer unsere Kräfte passieren.

Wunder erkennen bedeutet die Reinheit der Seele.

Miracles are all around us all the time in fact…it is just a question of having eyes to see and recognize or pluck them from the hedgerows…

Also I used to, and still do ask the god-goddess for signs and miracles, and I have been so lucky to have experienced so many. Things that were supposedly ‘impossible’ have happened right before my eyes. Believe in miracles and then they will happen to you…Please just try it for a year and see what happens…-Do it as an experiment if you are skeptical! -Why not??! You can’t honestly say it isnt real if you don’t try it!;)

Miracle?Miracle is everywhere,in every corner. It’s when you’re down or you don’t believe anymore then you get a sign,a message,a smile,a kiss,a rose ect..it can come from the ones you know or a stranger. It doesn’t matter,at that moment,it becomes a miracle.Your personal miracle.Sometimes you might think that a miracle is something that will change the course of your life, and it does, but it starts by changing the course of your day first. We are all miracles to someone.Miracles are real. When “shit happens” you can be sure there’s a miracle not so faraway. It never stops.

Love

Miracle was the most natural thing to me. I just believe in invisible world. I had not pray for God, not meditation, not special action. But now I know miracle exists, God exists, the Eternal Light exists. Human is connected with each other based on the Eternal Light.

For me, the miracle was in being able to come to Canada to pursue my tertiary level of education. I was born and brought up in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in an extremely conservative and disfunctional family. Daughters in my country are seen as burdens, and the most a parent can do is bring them up until they’re old enough to be married off. In an environment like that, i have managed to convince my father to make the best investment of his life, and that was, my education. After years of pleading, he agreed. I now live in Canada, am married, with a job, and most importantly, possess an identity of my own. That is a miracle for me.

I think Life itself is a miracle.I experienced miracles now and then. The most profound miracle is “Love”. This love leads me to the light and I was amazed to see the light for the first time. Since then my life changed completely.

Hi
Miracle for a person starts from the womb, they keep on happening through out our life it a matter of fact to realise it.. We can’t live without air but still we survive in womb.

Miracle is believing every thing can happen and losing the fear.

What’s the miracle?
“Miracle is human’s the most clear glasses given by the Eternal Light.”
The miracle is not superstition, not taboo, not a mental disease. Miracle is the most beautiful spiritual, sinless only place that human can touch by the Eternal Light.
Miracle occurs in human’s invisible world by the Eternal Light. In the world, many many false stories is floating. I can say obviously, “Miracle is real. Miracle occurs at present.” because miracle by the Eternal Light occurred to me. The only way toward miracle opens to start to believe in invisible world.

p.s. I wrote this letter for a man who still has beautiful his dreams. Because I know that this is one of his dreams.
Thank you, the owner.

Just the mere fact that Mr. Coelho has developed this awesome website that allows so many of us to have hope and inspiration brought to our lives when we need it the most, is a miracle in itself. We are here from all different parts of the world, yet we are able to be that light at the end of the tunnel for other people in their time of need and desire. How awesome of a miracle it is for me to know that no matter what time of night or day, there is always someone who has written a beautiful story to share or has some wise words of wisdon. So, we are surrounded by miracles every day of our lives. Thank you Mr. Coelho.. for sharing your opinion about such life changing topics and in the process beoming a miracle in disguise fo so many of us… Blessings and Love for you always…

Dear Debby, it’s a very nice post.

I remember one day I pray to get connected with amazing people around the world. So that, I could feel love from everywhere.

I think it’s a miracle to have some words of wisdom every time I need it most. It likes having your private 24 hours “angels” that ready to lift you up when you’re down.

I send my biggest-hug to all of you…

Warm regards from Indonesia :)
