Last night at the Dharma Nectar Hall of Lower Hamlet in Plum Village, lay and monastic
practitioners from around the world gathered to concentrate their energy into a new song which could represent the Wake Up movement. Thanks to the good conditions of a visit from Joe Reilly, Melina Bondy and many talented monks, nuns and lay friends, the fruit of the practice is posted here:

http://cdn2.libsyn.com/deerpark/Wake-Up.mp3?nvb=20100130093844&nva=20100131094844&t=0f51fae7d21a5f24e6bfe

Also, tonight is a Wolf Moon, the biggest and brightest moon of the year, also Mars the clearest it has been for many years. It’s definitely worth spending five minutes staring at the sky tonight to witness the magic of the universe in which we live!

xxx

Montega January 30, 2010 at 4:56 pm

i don’t get it, we all love the sight of the moon, elaborate on it’s appearance and admire it’s shine…. BUT – noone seems to mind Nasa bombing it.
To me the bombing of the moon is a violent act and since october 8th i haven’t been able to just look up and enjoy her sight without a sense of horror.
Soon we’ll have a coca cola advertisemnet on the moon etched into her surface.
What then?
Will everybody just accept that too?

Karin from Zambia January 30, 2010 at 8:37 am

Dear Paulo. I’ve just started reading your biography. It’s such a privelege for me to read intimately, how you became the warrior you are today. Thank you so much for sharing the story of your life with Fernando.
Love and graTitude, Karin
PS – I’m ‘rationing’ myself to 10 pages a day while I’m reading through the four books you recommended to solve the Enigma!

Espero que Paulo Cohelo nos siga dando es comunicacion que creo que dia a dia crece mas y mas.

Yesterday I went to the cinema to see the new movie of Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman. I enjoy watching the movie and I think that’s a great history based in a real history. I just share it with you.

I knew women desire to be slim, and at times use wrong methods, as dangerous pills. Now many pills containing a certain substance is forbidden, for is destroying heart, and harm more than do something good . I took few pills a week ago, cant say had real efect on me. I was glad I did not bought more. So, I watch tv news yesterday, and I cant believe when I come to know that Adrian Mutu, football player at Fiorentina, Italian team, was using that kind of pills, and for that he might lose all, for the substance in it is forbidden to the use of players at such level. The crazy part is that was his mother bringing him those pills few days ago, from our country…She thinks now that she destroyed his boy. I think all the issue of being slim is already went too far, and for few gramms in less, one lose a carrier(and something l;ike 13 million euros, that is the sallary he would get for his contract with Fiorentina). I am happy I am not in his place now. And what is strange, I remember when I went to Italy, I always was slim, for there one has many possibilities to eat healthy food. Why he could not use a natural way, and risked so much?

Gabriela Abalo January 29, 2010 at 2:29 pm

The social pressure to be slim is very hard on all of us. But if the genetics are not with you, being slim represents hard work: eating healthy, doing exercise, not drinking, etc. Without discipline that tough standard of life cannot be kept for long, so we soon go back into our old habits and the lost weight (plus a few extra kilos).
Then we get depress and start looking for easy solutions, the ones that do not imply any effort (shortcuts), without thinking in the consequences.
Our body needs more respect from us, we need to treat it better and love it the way it is.
Good exercise, a healthy diet and good sleeping habits are key. But that doesn’t mean we have to be slim – just to fit the media size – we need to accept our body the way it is, whether we are fat/slim, short/tall, white/black, or any other characteristic.

What has happen to the Mr. Mutu will bring awareness to many people, which will be very positive at the end. He is teaching us a great lesson. I wish him the best.

Thank you Alexandra for sharing.

Starting to feel akin, (in a very small way) to the people of Haiti. With all the of excess rain we have been experiencing in the western USA, (Hey, Heart, are you still flooding away?) a fourth of the ceiling in my theatre library is now gone and the wall is starting to buckle. I have also lost quite a few valuable things,i.e. scripts, old music scores, books, props, teaching units, student examples… Things I cannot replace…

A work order was finally placed with the district this morning. I have been complaining for about this for a month. Who knows when the work crew will show up. In the USA, as I am sure with most countries, sports teams take the first seat. The arts get shoved in the corner. If this leak had occured in the back corner in the dark part of the basketball gym, it would have been taken care of that night. LOL. Sorry, to complain. If they (our administration) only realized how much the arts improves the brain and heart power of our children.. They would put the ball in the right hole…

Well, I guess it just makes the arts that much more of a Warrior’s battle, right? Hey, I have plenty of swords for us. (Medieval “Bloody Scottish” ones) Are you game? And to add to the arsenal, Heart and Annie, I have plenty of whips, chains, and handcuffs… LOL :-)

I have put a smile on, like Paulo has suggested, and it helps me remember, that it’s just stuff. What’s more important, and well worth the fight, are my beautiful English students and my very lively class of fifty-two Beginning Theatre students that I love dearly and laugh with daily. This coming Monday in Theatre class, we are starting a combination of Paulo’s exercises from “The Pilgrimage” and Anne Bogart’s “The Viewpoints.” I don’t have any idea know how I’m going to teach these movement exercises to this many, but the Universe, via signs, will show the way. :-)

Love and very dry, warm, smiling light to you,
Lainee

Jojo January 29, 2010 at 2:39 pm

You are a brave Warrior Elaine. Liked to read what you do. You are right, if it had been in another field, all would have gone faster. But you are there and will go on to battle the good battle. Courage and keep smiling. It has been raining too here in Montreal in the past days … crazy … now temperatures are coming back to normal. Some places had rivers go over and flood.

Love, Jojo

Heart January 29, 2010 at 4:02 pm

Lainee dear,

These are thoughts straight from your heart, not organized or reflected more like straight from the liver, as a Norwegian expression goes :)

Yup, still raining in Arizona and many people working hard to clean up the mess after the storms. Our biggest concern in this state is a deficit starting to cut budgets to the core and really to an extent where it take away peoples safety. Two examples. 5000 high risk families in Phoenix area lost social work support. Already I see reports of increased child abuse in the hospitals :( The second example, 250 police men will have to go from the Phoenix police department, in these times with increased crime, you can only start to imagine where this will go. I talked to a lady who drives the ambulance, you know Emergency trips. She said they never enter houses, but have the police enter first, because people are freaked out with all the unemployment, foreclosures which then leads to substance abuse, domestic violence and yes people go hungry, are homeless. I see them once a week working for Help for Needy.

So, how can we put a smile on in spite of all that suffering? I don’t know. I just do…iCoehlo I suppose :))

Love & admiration,
Heart

Monica January 30, 2010 at 12:36 am

Lainee,

Something that has always puzzled me since I moved from Mexico to the US, is the fact that there is a series of free activities for children in Mexico. From drawing , to dance, as well as music lessons, cooking, sewing among others. My children love to visit my mother in Southern Mexico because of the rich culture and the variety of colors in daily life.

Like you I also want to try to do the AGAPE excercise with my group of AGAPE (I am part of a spiritual retreat and we have an activity named AGAPE) so when I read The Pilgrimage a couple of days ago I was overcome with emotions of all sorts, as I felt this was a sign God has sent my way, as I am part of the group performing AGAPE. I had read most of Paulo’s books and a couple of days ago he posted a link to his books on line and I saw it and downloaded it. I’ve been thinking we might want to shift the direction of our retreat a little bit. I pray things work out well and I’m allowed to do it, with God’s will everything can be done.

Love and Joy

Olta Ana January 27, 2010 at 9:42 pm

Funny ha! About how weird and great it can be, paying attention to each small detail in one single day. I try to organize ma day in a way which is going to be very productive. Five single minutes can be decisive on changing the whole day, and one single decision(which for the moment we may not give the right importance) can make a great change.
And all this can happen if you just choose tho follow the advices of your heart, intuition, or whatever you like to call it, as Paulo says.
Today for me it was just a matter of minutes and very little decisions, but I chose to not underestimate them and now I feel so happy for that.

Dear Gaurry, I made my professor smile today, but he made me laugh too much and that made him smile once more.
Than I did something for him which I didn’t know that he would like that much, but now I feel so happy I did that.
I was thinking that it wasn’t worth it at all, underestimating my self and my efforts, etc. but it was worth it.
I was so happy to see that my best friend today, while having good reasons to be sad, started singing and dancing under the rain on the way back home. I’d like to think that I was contagious to her and that at the end she started to be careless in front of the sad moments of life, but I know that our professor has amused her too as he did with me.
Although it seemed so weird to me cause she is so sensible and it is so hard for her to start smiling that easily.

As Paulo says:
“Sometimes happiness is a blessing, but normally it is a conquest.”

Well as wol that you all are I should say that; wol fight for the light : love, happiness and joy, in every moment of their life: each day, each hour, each instant.

Love
Olta

Today is the day where I will put the symbol engraved on my body, the symbol of the Warrior that now assumes her choices and meanings of life for her. I will get a tattoo … another one. Each important steps in my life is engraved on me. Many years ago, I had the tiger, for I needed his forces to put my feet on my path. I had flowers engraved in the act of loving and welcoming the feminine part of me, which I judged frail and unable to stand in a world as I was depicted governed and ruled and hold my men (that is why I mostly developed my masculine side and hid my feminine side). Then, I had the words “Inspire” and “Expire”, to remind me to breathe deeply before reacting, acting, as a sign of acceptance of the Universal Laws pertaining to Life. Then, I had the swan, for I went from the “vilain petit canard” to the transformation of the swan. Today, it will be the Warrior of Light sign that I will have as the seal of the sacred contract in which I believe and know that it is my place and to now honor and act as the Warrior that I am.

Love, Jojo.

Marie January 27, 2010 at 7:53 pm

Chère Jojo, j’espère que l’on pourra voir ce nouveau signe en photo peut-être ?

Hello Sir,
I wanted to comment on your article about the Bulgarian Airline Magazine published in “Warrior of Light” issue no.216. The best thing I find here is that they give a perfect description of the Real Life scenario & pursue the traveler to avoid conflicts by buying a bus ticket.I have never seen such a way of explanation before which is based on realism. It is very effective & leaves a great impression.

Theresa Goubran-Keshta January 27, 2010 at 9:07 pm

Hi Jojo,
I don’t have any tattoos, but I realise they have their significance for some people. My problem would be that if I had each “step of my life engraved on me,” I would have been covered in tattoos by now! That’s just because I am getting old! Anyway, I pray that all your steps in life will be happy ones! And to see you celebrating each one with a beautiful tattoo.
Love, Theresa

Jojo January 27, 2010 at 10:12 pm

Thanks Hildegarde
The tatoo is done
Was a great moment …
And the same person all the time that was present there to do it … over a course of now 9 years … special …

Alex Sandra UK January 27, 2010 at 10:28 pm

Thank you for sharing the history of your tattoos, it was interesting to read reasons behind the tattoo as often you see people with them and wonder whether they just had the picture or if there is a deeper meaning. I think it is good to commemorate important and significant stages of our lives.

Hope it doesn’t hurt too much however you are a Warrior so I am sure you will be just fine : )

O ,Jojo ,you are warrior whether the tattoo flied in your body or not !:)

Heart January 28, 2010 at 3:58 pm

Hi Jojo!

What a wonderful act of joy to tattoo the Warrior of Light sign on your body. Talking about celebrating our community.

Even though Paulo has offered to sign books @ his party, I have decided not to bring a book to get his signature. Instead I will ask him to sign his name, anywhere on my body where he would like, and might have him sign his name on a note to, so I later could have this signature tattooed on my body? The deeper meaning of this to me I cannot fully explain, but I hope he will accept, and it will be fun :))

Love & admiration,
Heart

Once I let a women put an temporary tatoo on my leg, I was at sea side on the beach. It was great, like a entangled serpent , black and silver eyes, around the heel. As I spent few days at sea side, then few days in mountains, I get bit brown ( first red..), and the serpent went off…But, the place was white with all shape there, so I had a tatoo in white. He he, it looked great.Best tattoo.

Den Rod January 29, 2010 at 12:56 am

Hey Jojo
What’s it look like?
I mean the wol sign tatoo.

Den Rod January 29, 2010 at 12:59 am

Does it look like the one on the very top of this page?

sido66 January 27, 2010 at 11:09 am

I have long hesitate to testify to this i lived in God:

1) i was afraid that any stops (and it is so wonderful)

2) i like the people , and it is a duty to tell them that it is beautiful, and that they can also live in this love so great

3)I am told: “You know the most important, is to testify to what you live …”

4) i would have liked to be told that this existed, i discovered by myself and I do not know much ( I regret to not have known earlier !! )Then testimony a little

When you are in the confidence and in the faith in God , iT is permitted , for the good of all, to leave aside ( just a moment :-D ) its humility: to offer as a gift the feeling of its life = LIVE THE WAY OF GOD IS MARVELOUS , OH THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO FIND AND TO LIVE !!!! THIS LOVE THAT FLOODS MY SOUL IS SO GREAT, SO PURE , so overflowing ….OF HAPPINESS INTENSE: THAT I WISH HAS ALL.

There are two choices in life :keeping single . feel deadly lonely ;married ,wish be killed !
read it and feel interested ,so share here.

Olta Ana January 27, 2010 at 10:11 am

For the moment I think I am so happy to be young and not care about being married or being single. But I just can’t help it and think about it when I hear things like that.
There is another expression I’ve heard :
If you are single, you will live like a king and die like a lonely dog. But if you are married you will live like a dog and die like a king. (no offense to the dogs)
Lets suppose that we have this circle. Inside of it there are married people and outside, single people.
Those who are in want to come out, and those who are out want to go in. (I’ve heard this one in a movie, which I don’t remember now.)

Love
Olta

Alexandra January 27, 2010 at 11:17 am

Are you serious, Gaurry? Why? Is not that way, even if seems…Is like black or white, there other colors too….Pink, grey, red…

Theresa Goubran-Keshta January 27, 2010 at 1:37 pm

What? Isn’t there anything in between? !!!
Now you’ve got me thinking !!!
Thank you for sharing…

Jojo January 27, 2010 at 2:02 pm

For me dear friend the “status” of being single or married is not important, for the choice that I make is one of attitude in both status, of feeling as the queen who has decided to be single for a time, married for another, and assuming her choices.

Love, Jojo.

Monica January 27, 2010 at 6:07 pm

Actually Gaurry, there is one more choice……be joyful regardless of which situation you are in and make decisions that make your life ever more joyful…

Monica

Marie January 27, 2010 at 8:29 pm

Dear Gaurry, I have just read to you and I smile because I soon get married ! :) If I think that it’s better to live alone than badly accompanied but I think that there’s no man on this earth which is not need to give and to receive from the love because it’s in the nature of the man. Think that nobody waits for you someplace and that you wait anybody seems to me of a infinite sadness !
I find the example of Alexandra on colors very interesting. Indeed, a color can seem beautiful and put next to the other one completely switched off ! Look at the rainbow, it possesses multiple colors and we can see him several times in our life… I hope that you will know how to look for YOUR good color and as says it Ana, there are circles where we can enter, go out, return, re – go out. Circles have various diameters, it’s maybe to remind us that we don’t have to be allowed lock ! I’m sure that you’re audacious then maybe that the next time you will make for us a spectacular demonstration of Hula-hoop! :))

Light & Love,

THELMA January 27, 2010 at 8:53 pm

I am married for ..40 years this year and 2 more years engaged. My life has been full of adventure, up and downs, joy and sadness; but most of all I have never felt deadly … lonely or wished to be killed, dear gaurry!
Remember the poem ITHACA: we carry in our souls the good and evil, but the beauty is in the journey itself. We are ONE and we are made to .. love and be loved. I belong to the star-sign of Marriage, as an astrologer had told me once, so I would not want to ..walk in life alone. ;-]

Hi dear friens,
Here I drink the hot tea, I was joking when I said was Northen Pole here, but seem was real. Is the coldest country now in Europe, uin some city even -31C degrees…And in Northen Pole now there are among-21, -40C degre…A lot of people die, and authority gathered the homeless even with force for bringing them to shelters…
Appart that I find and interesting quote in the book “This Side of Paradise”, by.F.Scott Fitzgerald, he is also quoting from Elizabeth Browning:
“Each life unfulfilled, you see
It hangs still, patchy and scrappy
We have not sighed deep, laughed free,
Starved, feasted, despaired-been happy.”

I really like this. Thank you Jessica. It reminds me of the Prayer of St. Francis:

Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy;

FOR IT IS IN GIVING, THAT WE RECEIVE.

p.s.

The study suggests as part of a project to do, that part of the story is recaptured as a picture image.

I think i’ll try it..
I had just been inspired to do a collage using lots of lino prints together to make one larger picture image.

Of course it was easy to think of Gibran’s The Prophet with all its beautiful symbology..
but some day soon i will start a similar project using scenes of the alchemist story.
perhaps… santiago and his beloved in his home town, his trade… but before leaving for his personal legend.
or.. the role of the two stones.. and finding the way in the desert.
maybe… it’s time to re-read the book also…
the above study has inspired me to pay Closer attention too lol.
;o)

What’s the author and book mentioned in the Warrior of the Light Newsletter “The Streets Of Sofia”, in which the existence of Bulgaria is questioned. Sounds interesting!

sido66 January 26, 2010 at 10:47 am

Peace in his heart leaves a great place for the love , then if love finds a place “comfortable” in your heart , it will install; and if the love installs in your heart , the peace will flood your soul…
Thus, if peace and love are present in you: everything is possible ( same love those who are “bad” with you: if , this happens !!! This is bizarre , but the love becomes harder than any , and any reign while in a peace so great that nothing wrong cannot touch you !! )

Then, it would be so easy to let enlarge , a little , the peace in each of us –to know a new so “rich” of all….for you , and… for the other

The well-being is to be built by your own hands

sido66 January 26, 2010 at 10:25 am

My Life is conduct… by the signs on a path in God –and I am –and I saw a beautiful path , pure and wonderful
Each day , my Father puts before me each stone on my way , and each day , i advance on the path it draws before my eyes: and it is a path fabulous.
Actually , each of us can succeed in finding this path in God…
Trust should prevail in your heart, learn to look with a new look, lacher its fears, listen , and listen to his heart , share and love with all his soul , LIVE
Then, what is expected , you will tell me: just that you were the first step , it is your freedom of choice , make the first step and then let you guide by signs which are proposed–
Personally , on the day of the St Martin , on 11 November 2008 i said: “Lord , today , if you give me a stick , i will walk for you and for the poorest …” and 16 november , I received a stick (Pilgrim’s staff)–then since , i am led and protected: and this is a wonderful path
Then, in this month of December i am go on the path of St Jacques to pray, give him my sufferings , and meet the poorest: and i lived a path of st jacques as in a “film” , a path of “light” wonderful where angels accompany you…
If you know just open your heart , the reward is GREAT –and you will be guide then sign after sign.. if you make the path of St jacques , or if you advance to make a path of life with him, do not forget that the motivation is not the motivation “men ”
Thus , i will look at each path to the sword and look at your heart ( and I will welcome for you , because the happiness to see his “brother” succeed is greater than to make a path itself –love and accompany will be my pleasure that I savor already for the pilgrims who take the “good path” –soon

Monica January 30, 2010 at 12:47 am

Dear WOL’s, I can finally return on the blog :)) I wish you all an excellent new year and contrary to the paying TVs…continue to decipher you ! :)) Ha ! I think…if we add the numbers of year 2010 it gives the number 3 as the trinity ! So, believe in your ancestors, believe in your children and believe in your intuition ! Good travel for this year :))

Light & Love,

Olta Ana January 26, 2010 at 11:04 am

Finaly we can see you again here Marie.
Have a great New year you too!

Love
Olta

Monica January 30, 2010 at 12:48 am

Thanks Marie, likewise. This new year feels differen indeed, at least for me as I’ve been able to notice many differences in the “air”. The fact that you brought up that the numbers of this year make the number 3 mean a lot as God is influencing my path.

Love and joy

O sofrimento atroz do povo haitiano nos fere de morte como seres humanos, meu amigo Mago. O falecimento da nossa Zilda Arns veio exacerbar esse quadro triste e cruel. Estou triste demais, desculpe-me!!!Bjsss

To the WOL’s…

If you observe a really happy man you will find him building a boat, writing a symphony, educating his son, growing double dahlias in his garden, or looking for dinosaur eggs in the Gobi desert. He will not be searching for happiness as if it were a collar button that has rolled under the radiator. He will not be striving for it as a goal in itself. He will have become aware that he is happy in the course of living life twenty-four crowded hours of the day. ~W. Beran Wolfe

I just adore that one Gabriela. Thank you … it brought me back to the essential, to stop seeking hapiness and just feel it at the present moment because it is there. Even if I have to go through many things, those situations or difficulties are less than the joy of Being here and now.

Love, Jojo.

Plastic bags are quite a money generating machine aren’t they? Before they were handed over for free (manner of speaking) now they cost just about an arm and a leg. Why is that?
Some of them have reached a peak price We were told that they were going to disappear. – well they are still there – ON SPECIAL – at a price…

Alexandra January 25, 2010 at 8:11 am

Almost funny when I buy an expensive thing, lets say boots, and the shop assistant offers to me for buying a bag not cheap with big advertising for the shop on it! So I am supposed to pay for making advertisment for that shop? I love nature and understand, but things are the way they are not only because of free plastic bags.

Montega January 25, 2010 at 8:28 am

It’s because of the European packaging law. Producers have obligations in regards to the packaging they add to their products. The interest organisations for supermarkets claimed: a product is something consumers pay for. When that was agreed on they asked their customers to pay for bags and they became a product instead of packaging. Because of that they don’t have to bother about registration now. Packaging law and the interrest groups around it is all about the battle of the fittest :)

A guy parks his brand new Porsche in front of the office to show it off to his colleagues.

As he’s getting out of the car, a lorry comes speeding along too close to the kerb and takes off the door before zooming off.

More than a little distraught, the man grabs his mobile and calls the police.

Five minutes later, the police arrive. Before the policeman has a chance to ask any questions, the man starts screaming hysterically: ‘My Porsche, my beautiful silver Porsche is ruined. No matter how long it’s at the panel beaters it’ll simply never be the same again!’

After the man finally finishes his rant, the policeman shakes his head in disgust.

‘I can’t believe how materialistic you are,’ he
says. ‘You are so focused on your possessions that you don’t notice anything else in your life.’

‘How can you say such a thing at a time like this?’ sobs the Porsche owner.

The policeman replies, ‘Didn’t you realise that your right arm was torn off when the truck hit you.’
The man looks down in horror.

‘F***ING HELL!’ he screams……..’Where’s my Rolex????…

Farama de poem…

Visand la tine
Simt cum o usoara adiere
pare ca ma infasaoara, un strat nevazut
tesut din iubire, o fericire, de moment,
ce traieste prin emotie si amintire
suspendata in spatiul fara sfarsit al Universului,
Desi stie ea,

Alexandra January 25, 2010 at 8:12 am

I missed the final line, my head in the clouds I think…was “Ca tu esti aici.” That was the end…
But maybe it doesnt matter…

Last week i found a piece of two pence in front of my door. It had no business lying there so I picked it up and glanced at it. ‘Got a fleur de lis on it’ i thought and put it in my pocket with a smile.

Today is cold and wet and i’m avoiding household chores. So I had a better look at the coin and eventually did some online research.

Now the thing with two pence is, that what looks like a lily actually are three feathers, white oistrich feathers, i learned, above a small crown. Beneath it is a band saying ICH DIEN. Stands for something Latin i assumed but then realized it is German and means ‘I serve’.
Who serves whom?

I kept on googling and was taken on an amazing trip, getting to know the Black Prince fighting in Bohemia in the 100 year wars, his wife, the beautiful bigamist Joan of Kent and their trips to Bordeaux. I was taken past the fairytale of the three feathers and learned that feathers were used in the Middleages to indicate what direction to turn to, and eventually – quite by chance back to the fleur de lis and it’s ancient origin. Way past the Holy Trinity and the Virgin Mary right back to Osiris and the early days of Egypt civilization. Osiris who was betrayed by his brother, nailed in a coffin and thrown into the Nile until he washed ashore on the Phoenician coast under a Tamarind tree. The tree embedded Osiris until it was cut and used as a column in the temple of Byblos.

The Osiris tree is the first symbol known as the Tree of Life, the pillar of the world, rooting in Netherworld, it’s branches supporting the stars and the firmament. The pillar of Osiris was brought home by his sister and wife Isis.
Isis is the goddess of double wisdom, the giver of life. The Sacred Asp of Isis (now the Mercurian stick surrounded by a snake referring to medicine) is her symbol for double wisdom. The letter S and the number 2 are representations of this godess, you can see their doubled froms surrounding the stick.
My coin is a two pence piece, it states so twice even and thus connected to Isis.

Isn’t it amazing how so much knowledge and wisdom is embedded in one worthless little piece of metal?
History, myth, religion and fairytale all on my doorstep. The only thing i couldn’t trace were the words Ich Dien, but that’s not necessary, the coin has served me enough as it is.

monica January 25, 2010 at 2:16 am

Montega,

This was very nice indeed and it is obvious that your coin was actually worth much more than what you thought since it gave us all a wonderful trip through history. Thanks for sharing

Monica

Alexandra January 25, 2010 at 8:16 am

Really? Number two is my number in names numerology…Thank you for the wonderful presentation. I read once a nice story about a writer who was not sleeping, but heard in the night his two coins talking about their adventures passing from a owner to other. Was really interesting and quite unique, I dare say.

Hihihi! Sorry please forgive me, I know the story is Egypt, but the pence is which country? Egypt too? I really don’t know , so please…….

Thats pretty cute, from Loving you poetry:
If My Heart Could Speak
by sonnyc
I know I love you
Because I feel weak
when you leave me
And if my heart could speak
It would say
“Please believe me”
But if this love ends
Before it begins
At least I have made
A beautiful friend

Dear all,

*********************************
You Disappear
*********************************

Today, I am thinking about you,
In a very quick moment, you disappear,
Remembering you, with this rain,
Frozen wind, silence fills deep inside,
Today, I am thinking about you,
In a very quick moment, you disappear,

Lost in the strange land, lost in translation,
Hope remains darling, feelings unchanged,
Weather says it all, with wind of change,
Today, I am thinking about you,
In a very quick moment, you disappear,

Smell of changing climate, romance in air,
Oh honey, love remains the same,
Today, I am thinking about you,
In a very quick moment, you disappear,
**************************************

God bless you all !

Great Thelma! Thank you!
I feel so inspired now! This evening I am going to make an audition for Viennese waltz.
My friends who have given me lessons of salsa, bachata, etc., do this every year. They take some of us and they will be giving a great show, dancing. This is going to be on February 14th. I’ve never participated into something like this, but I want to. The girls will be wearing wedding dresses and masks.

Tell Me If This Be Love
If you were the clouds
And raindrops your kiss,
I’d drown in your showers
Of liquid-sliver bliss.

If you were the flowers
And dewdrops your tears,
I’d make a bed of petals
To wash away my fears.

If you were the violin
And the notes your voice
I’d listen to your singing
To my heart’s rejoice

Dear Alexandra; I should know this…! This type of art has been around from the dawn of man – check out Romanesque Art, Gothic Art, Renaissance Art… the Asians loved this theme as well as the Japanese. One of my favourite paintings on this theme is the painting of the Birth of Venus by Sandro Botticelli

I don’t know if this is of any help to you; or if you are looking for something more modern.

The Smuggler – A Sufi Tale from the Middle East

A clever smuggler came to the border with a donkey. The donkey’s back was heavily laden with straw. The official of the border was suspicious and pulled apart the man’s bundles till there was straw all around, but not a valuable thing in the straw was found. “But I’m certain you’re smuggling something,” the official said, as the man crossed the border.

Now each day for ten years the man came to the border with a donkey. Although the official searched and searched the straw bundles on the donkey’s back, he never could find anything valuable hidden in them.

Many years later, after the official had retired, he happened to meet the same smuggler in a marketplace and said, “Please tell me, I beg you. Tell me, what were you smuggling? Tell me if you can.”

“Donkeys,” said the man.

I had a great time reading your story dear Theresa, today is my birthday and the joy continues with your wonderful story, I loved it, the truth is right there in front of our eyes and we don’t see it!!!
Today I finally found joy in cleaning my house. While I was cleaning I was thinking about the wonderful feeling of seeing my house clean after it’s been very messy. I used to dread cleaning around. This year I am finding joy in everything I do and I am trying to show this to my children so no matter what they do they have happiness, I pray it works.

Love

Theresa Goubran-Keshta January 24, 2010 at 6:51 pm

Thank you all for your interesting/funny comments on “The Smuggler”
I like these Sufi Tales because they come with a Moral and they are all open to interpretation !!! I really liked reading your individual responses. I think the ‘official’ was stuck in a ‘rut’; same ol’, same ol’, to such a point he didn’t seem to realise that something ‘new’ could happen! This could be the danger for all of us!
God bless you all,
Love, Theresa
