Hear a joke . I share.
So, once Ceausescu, president of Romania, and Gorbacheov, president of Rusia, were invited at a formal dinner. They set nearat the table. All were perfect, gold spoons, so on, a very nice table. Gorbacheov whispers at Ceausescus ear: look, how many nice things…would be a pity if we not take away at least one gold spoon…
Ceausecu agree. So Gorbacheov take a spoon and hide it into his pocket.
Thats the moment Ceausescu raise, and loudly announce:
Is there anybody who would like a moment of magic???
Sure!!
said the other guests.
Than, Ceausescu took a spoon, put into his pocket, and took the other spoon from the pocket of Gorbacheov….

Hehe. Alexandra…ok here is a Russian joke about Ivan who owns a goat, and Boris, who does not, an injustice Boris bitterly resents. One night Boris is visited by his guardian angel. “I see your problem,” the angel says, “and now I’ll give you what you want.” Boris cheers up and asks. “You mean you’re going to kill Ivan’s goat?”

Ilva Asote September 15, 2009 at 10:54 pm

Mikhail Gorbachev’s “golden spoon” is on his forehead. He doesn’t need more. But Nicolae Ceausescu had a great intuition! An he relied on it! :D

Dear Sheela,
Good to be back to this blog and read what all you friends have to say.

I don’t go online in the weekends..only weekdays. Weekends are dedicated to cooking/cleaning/food shopping and some time with the boys.

And yes, I need to get in shape in too..used to walk a mile at lunch time at work but have somehow lost that habit.

Anyway my long post , that didn’t get posted, was about how reading all the experiences, advice and thoughts expressed on this blog helped me to see a new perspective on my life.

My son bought a book about Optical illusions..mostly pictures of image illusion…and it is amazing to see how what the image we see is not really what it appears to be. some colors make a area look bigger and some shades make the same area look smaller. Made me think that our lives are no different than these images/illusion.
Sometimes we look at a situations and perceive it as either good or bad..but fail to look beyond the ‘good’ at the ‘bad’ or beyond the ‘bad’ to the ‘good’.

On a positive note(well, i appears positive ;) to me ), I got my husband to read Paulo’s ‘Zahir’….and he is half way thru the book. He has declared me as his ‘Zahir’ although i doubt if he understands it fully ..i think its a good start though on this long road to repairing our relationship.

Take care.

love,
Laxmi

Dear Sheelu,
I haven’t read Fifth Mountain yet…now can’t wait until i read it :).

You are right about this blog..no where else have i been able to share these intimate details of my life…anonymity is provided in almost all blogs but i think it’s the caliber of people that come here , who Paulo has loving assembled through his books, that makes the difference.

Don’t spend too much time thinking about where you went wrong…sometimes the wrong steps we might have taken are for the right reasons.
I have found it useful to look for illusions only when the siutation is ‘bad’ if the situation appears ‘good’ i try not to look at it as an illusion (although fear lurks beneath the surface)

love,
Laxmi

Hello to all. May I join the community?

@Sir Paulo Coelho: I’ve never read any of your books yet, Sir. But my friends say that you are a great author. Can’t buy “The Alchemist” yet. Still saving up. BTW, I’m from the Philippines. ^_^

Dearest Annie,

Yesterday after our long and exiting conversations I cried as a child… Yes, Annie, I cried as a little white monkey who has lost his/her way. Every single „move” seemed wrong. Every „P A R T” seemed as the biggest mistake! Nothing seemed good enough.

This morning I went to the bus station (to go to the city where I’m living and working). And here he was standing….! Gharib. What does he want from me? – I asked. Yes, Annie, I wanted to run away. TO RUN AWAY and NEVER meet him again. But here he was standing and waiting FOR ME!

„You….you are… my zahir…. and you are… absent… And…. I want to know nothing about your… Chess!” I said heavily.

But you know, Annie, he smiled and seemed very satisfied and happy. He said:

„Even when God seems absent in believer’s life, He’s present. God is The Great Gull. And God is the Great Chessman. Not me. But when the Cat says „miow” be friendly – always answer with „miow”… And remember: Zahir in Chess is „The Manifest”!”

And AGAIN, Annie, I’m dancing under that Banana Tree! Can you see it, Annie? Can you? I’m jumping up and down, then moving my hips right and left!!! :)

Have a nice day, Annie – „a deer with a heart of a butterfly, with a courage of a woman, in a shape of a girl and the eys of …an owl”!

Your Asote

P.S. „STRANGE house” = „House of the Great Chessman”

Yes, you may shoot me now! :D

A submit button for Reply isn’t working.
My machine have self-control from time to time.
By the way, did you see the pattern printed on the curtain veiled the house’s window at the Strange House?
Isn’t a “girl with a red hat”? Besides, look at the girl’s back.
What’s that? Wolf? Mommy? Grandma?
I was scared the scene in when I was young.
I haven’t seen a person using such a printed curtain.
My first impression too is so strange.

Ilva Asote September 14, 2009 at 10:14 am

Dear Supia,

“Girl with a red hat” could be a little brave soldier (the Pawn) who IS NOT AFRAID from the “wolf”… She is not afraid to be eaten. She is not afraid to make moves…

Much Love,

PART 0

ALICE IS BORED with sitting on the riverbank with her SISTER, who is reading a book. Suddenly she sees a white RABBIT, wearing a coat and carrying a watch, run past, lamenting running late. She follows it down a RABBIT HOLE and falls very slowly down a tunnel lined with curious objects…

But PART IV is my favorite! :D
“MY KING SHALL CASTLE”

Ilva Asote September 13, 2009 at 7:56 pm

PART VIII

My last move for today.

Snow White – a fairy tale…

“Once upon a time, as a queen sits sewing at her window, she pricks her finger on her needle and a drop of blood falls on the snow that had fallen on her ebony window frame. As she looks at the blood on the snow, she says to herself, “Oh, how I wish that I had a daughter that had skin white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony”. Soon after that, the queen gives birth to a baby girl who has skin white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony. They name her Princess Snow White. As soon as the child is born, the queen dies.
(…)
The queen becomes jealous, and orders a huntsman to take Snow White into the woods to be killed. She demands that the huntsman return with Snow White’s heart as proof of her killing. The huntsman takes Snow White into the forest, but after raising his knife to stab her, he finds himself unable to kill her. Instead, he lets her go, telling her to flee and hide, and brings the queen the heart of a young deer, which is then prepared by the cook and eaten by the queen.”

That is about the game of Chess…

1] “(…) skin WHITE as snow, lips red as blood, and hair BLACK as ebony”.
2] DEER – THAT IS WHAT I see above the window!

-“Teacher, now it your move!” I said.
-“Don’t Eat Your Heart /Pythagoras/” he answered.

Eight PARTS as eight Pawns… In the Game of Chess.

Much love,
Ilva

P.S. Thank you for taking part in this “Chess tournament”!

Yes, and keep playing chess on Love!

The road is very long . It is often tough. But when you persevere, when you succeed and you still wear a smile after the storm, be aware that there are others who are watching and know you have given them supplies for their long journeys ahead

Savita Vega September 13, 2009 at 4:55 pm

In response to the conversation (below) about wanting to become a horse, a giraffe, a doe…: Now this is going to sound a bit nuts, but I’m really starting to believe that one does not have to wait until one’s “next life” to become this or that animal. Recently, I’ve been reading and studying about animal spirits, totems, therianthropy (the phenomenon whereby a human is transformed into an animal), shamanism, etc. My interest in this subject first began many years ago, when, deep in the jungles of southern Mexico, I met a “jaguar-man.” I’m not going to go into any details on that, because the story is simply too wild to be told. But, suffice it to say, I was convinced at the time that I had actually met a “shape-shifter,” one of those individuals such as we read about in myth, who possesses the power to transform him/herself into an animal. But then, as time passed, I ceased to think much about it.

It is as Paulo says in one of his books (I think it is The Pilgrimage): something to the effect of, when we witness something truly miraculous with our own eyes and realize it to be a true miracle, five minutes later we are already trying to convince ourselves that it never happened – that the whole thing was just a figment of our imagination. This, I can only suppose is our brain’s natural defense mechanism, intended to keep us from either going crazy or thinking that we are going crazy. Anyway, it is true. It wasn’t long after encountering this “jaguar-man” that I managed to convince myself that the whole thing never happened.

Then, a few years ago, my daughter was born. When she was about three, just old enough to start expressing herself clearly in complex conversation, she started to talk about animal spirits, specifically expressing the idea that she had a tiger living inside of her. At first, I didn’t think much about it – just a child’s imagination – but as time passed, she became ever more insistent that this was not merely her imagination. She expected her claim to be taken seriously. As well, as time passed, the number of animal spirits which she claimed to possess (or be possessed by) grew: a tiger, a leopard, a rabbit, a wolf, a horse, and an eagle. Not only did she start talking about these animals, she started acting like them. Nor was she particularly interested in learning about them, as children often are. I would say to her, “Do you want me to read to you about a wolf?” – in fact, I bought her several big books with beautiful pictures, one about wolves, one about big cats, one about animals in general – but she had no interest, never looked at the books once. Her response would always be something like, “No, I don’t need you to read to me about tigers. I already know what it is to be a tiger,” or “I already know everything there is to know about wolves. I am one.” Then, somewhere along the way, she picked up this necklace – I don’t even know where the thing came from – a necklace shaped, very convincingly, like a large cat tooth, and with the face of a tiger carved at the top of it. For at least a couple of years she has worn that “totem” on a string around her neck, and will not take it off, except in the bath. She says that her animal spirits live inside that necklace, and when she wants, she calls them out.

Now, I have to back up for a minute to say that I have no idea where any of these ideas could have come from. To my memory, I never read her anything about animal spirits or totems, until just recently. We don’t have television either, so the idea didn’t come from there. This notion of possessing or being possessed by animal spirits is an idea that she seems to have developed all on her own. I haven’t encouraged it, as it tends to be somewhat problematic (in public, at church, in school, etc.), but, at the same time, I have done nothing to try to evict this notion from her mind. I just listen, and try to be open-minded.

Then, recently, I learned something even more surprising. I met a woman in the field of education, whose area of expertise is dealing with what is termed as “indigo children” or “crystal children.” I had never heard of this before, but I took my daughter to meet with this woman. I had told the woman, beforehand, about my daughter’s “animal spirits” and she did not seem at all surprised but only very interested. So, we sat around the table, the three of us, and at first, my daughter wouldn’t speak at all, which is not unusual for her. But then the woman asked her about her necklace, and this silent, sullen child cam alive. Within minutes, the two were down on the floor and my daughter was running around on all fours, growling loudly and clawing at the furniture. An instant friendship was born, as this woman expressed not only an understanding but a genuine interest in what my daughter was saying about animal spirits. Later, in a subsequent conversation, the woman said to me, “You know – she isn’t the only one. There are other children like her,” and she began to relate similar stories of other children she had dealt with who, likewise, claimed to have animal spirits. She had her own theory about what this phenomenon is all about, and I listened carefully. That was several months ago, and to this day I am still dumbfounded. It amazes me that there are children out there – not just my daughter – who seem to be born with this notion that they are inhabited by or somehow able to access and channel certain animal spirits.

So, as I mentioned, recently, I have been reading up on this, trying to learn more about it. There are many books on the general subject – some about shamanic practices, some about the custom of animal totems (either tribal or individual) in certain cultures, some about the “occult” practices of “shape-shifters,” about naguals, etc. The point is that this phenomenon of humans becoming or being inhabited by animals has a very long history in a variety of cultures throughout the world. In the West, probably the first things that come to our minds when one mentions therianthropy are witches turning into black cats, and the stories of werewolves, but it doesn’t stop at this. In many diverse cultures, in many parts of the world, even today, there is the steadfast belief that it is indeed possible for human beings to access or channel the spirits of animals, often utilized in shamanic journeys to Otherworlds.

Anyway, as I say, I am still dumbfounded, as none of this, of course, fits with what I was raised to think of a “reality.” Still, I wanted to share it with all of you – especially Annie, Ilva, and Liina – who expressed a desire to become this or that animal. Who knows? – Maybe it is possible, even without waiting for your “next life.”

Well, I am in Chinese Horoscope an Dog, metall. The thing I dont understand about Chinese, is that they think very good about a person born in a Dog year, taking the features of the animal. Is described as honest, sincere, brave, altruist……Than, I wonder, why they eat the dogs as a soup???

Pandora September 13, 2009 at 10:42 pm

Dear Savita

I have a friend who tracks Tigers, not to hunt. She has been in love with Tigers since a child, her soulmate is an indian tiger conservationalist, she has painted Tigers, has photographs of tigers all over her walls.

She is like a Tiger in every way, ferocious in an argument (another one with mars in scorpio), she is Fire, Sagitarrius… (like you?)

She has seen past lives being a tiger, a huntress, this is a fabulous totem to identify with…

My daughter too, painted herself like a tiger and started roaring around the house… kids have such sense (of fun too)!

Indigo children, sounds like this could be an elitist concept to me, what makes a child an indigo child, a receptive parent as opposed to a non receptive one?

Lots of love
Pandora

Liina.L September 14, 2009 at 12:10 am

Very interesting story, Savita.

I played a dog once, when I was a kid. Crawled around floors, barked, even tied my fathers tie on myself pretending it was a leash. Hah! I think I really got on my parents nerves, because I expected them to go along with my play. At first they found it funny, but soon grew tired with my intensive attention seeking, I suppose. Lol.

I’ve read and heard about indigo children and such, but not yet the thing that You described. Although it sounds interesting to me.

Thanks for sharing it!
Love,
Liina

PART V

-„How far can you see, Asote? And WHAT can you see?” he asked.
-„Nothing,” I heavily answered.
-„I’ll make a move — LIVING STONE. Your turn.”
-„Seagull. Johnathan LIVINGSTON.”

That was my move to the „dark/black” square.

„Chess taecher” opened the book and read:

„ Get down! Seagulls never fly in the dark! If you were meant to fly in the dark, you’d have the eyes of an OWL! You’d have charts for brains! You’d have a falcon’s short wings!
There in the night, a hundred feet in the air, Jonathan Livingston Seagull – blinked. His pain, his resolutions, vanished.
Short wings. A falcon’s short wings!
That’s the answer! What a fool I’ve been! All I need is a tiny little wing, all I need is to fold most of my wings and fly on just the tips alone! Short wings!”

That is about chess.
Short wings — short answers – concentrated moves.

Annie, do you have “the eyes of an owl”? Can you see in the dark?

“STRANGE House” in the game of Chess.

PART II

My move – - BIELLMANN!!!

The game of chess is about… moving on ice — and… mind flexibility.

Dear Annie, Biellmann spin position requires VERY very great flexibility /even in Chess/ :D

Yes, Annie, SHE would like to be a ballerina. But…as she is playing chess, SHE has to be more skater than ballerina!

Abbe Pierre.

Pierre — Peter —- rock, stone

Jesus said: „And I say to you: That you are Peter and upon this rock I’ll build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” /Matthew 16: 13-19/

If SHE can stand on ONE FOOT as easily with her eyes closed as open, the question is:
“If the Woman is in a fairy tale or… in the abyss?”
I THINK the Skater is in the most wonderful fairy tale – as Alice, in Wonderland.

Ilva Asote September 13, 2009 at 11:14 am

Annie dearest,

During this day (step by step) I’m going to make more ‘moves’ on the chessboard: some to „white” squares, some – to „black”. I’m going to divide my ‘moves’ into mores posts/answers.

Your task (and mine) was „STRANGE house” in the game of Chess.

—————————————————————–

PART I

I’m the Pawn. As per rules of playing chess, these pieces are allowed to only move one squares at a time, however thay can move two squares if they want. I’ll move 2 squares straight forward.

Looking at the photo, my answer to Gharib was: „Pula… (gliding: from black quare to white) Pula” — so — PULA, PULA

a] As far as you know, one „PULA” means „rain” (and now, Annie, please remeber that task about „Socrates, Plato and Aristotle”! Water…). It is the most important word in Setswana (Botswana). But (!) „Pula, pula” means „LUCK, PROSPERITY, HEALTH AND… BLESSING” Note: up to 70 % of Botswana is covered by the Kalahari Desert… Water (rain) in the the Desert! Isn’t that, Annie, blessing?

So, „PULA” highlits the importance of water.

b] Now, please, click the link below!

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/66/Arms_of_Botswana.svg

Coat of arms of Botswana.
You see, that it’s more then just a simple task – THAT IS the game of Chess…!

c] 2 Zebras (=”wild ass”): black and white stripes.
As you know, the wild ancestor of the DONKEY is the African Wild Ass…

“In both Jewish and Christian traditions, the messiah (Jesus Christ in the later case) was often described as riding on a donkey. As noted, in the context of the Hebrew Bible this connoted wealth and affluence befitting the House of David, as at the time commoners are described as simply going on foot. However, in later times when the aristocracy used horses, depicting the messiah as riding a donkey came to have an opposite connotation, as indicating a simple, sober way of life and avoiding luxury. The same connotation is evident in the description of saints such as Francis of Assisi as riding donkeys.

In contemporary Israel, the term “Messiah’s Donkey” (Chamoro Shel Mashiach חמורו של משיח) stands at the center of a controversial religious-political doctrine, attributed to Rabbi Avraham Yitchak Hacohen Cook, under which it was the Heavenly-imposed “task” of secular Zionists to build up a Jewish State, but once the state is established they are fated to give place to the Religious who are ordained to lead the state.” – Wikipedia

Annie… even “donkey” in the game of chess enjoys the life! :D
————————————————————–

-„Gharib… it’s unfair…”
-„What is unfair?” he asked.
-„My turn… My moves… But what is YOUR move?”
-„My move is more simple than yours…”

He drew a square (as a big letter „O”). And wrote down in it „P U L A”

-„???”
-„That is my move!”

P U L A
Then….. mixed letters…
P A U L in the big square „O” — GOD’s PROTECTION

Even without big square… the boy’s name Paulo is a variant of Paul (Latin)…

BUT (!) that is just the beginning of the game!!! :D

Annie, do you enjoy the game of Chess? :D

Love,
Ilva

P.S. Annie, please, let me know if it doesn’t seem too annoying for you.. ^^ ^^ :)

Dear Annie,

Please, pay your attention to this “STRANGE house”: http://twitpic.com/hcvjf

Yesterday I printed out that picture; this morning I went to the village to meet my Mom and my “Chess Teacher”. I showed him the photo of the house. He looked at it and at me, then whispered: “Asote…”

It’s enough for me to understand that it’s a new “task”…! :)
I solved this “task” already.
Now it’s your turn! :D

So, the task is: “STRANGE house”

Good luck, Kalinka!

Asote

P.S. By the way, Asote is a monkey.

Your Zuzu reminded me of the old move It’s a wonderful life, where the youngest daughter was named Zuzu. Do you remember the scene with the petals? Zuzu comes to her dad (Jimmi Stewart) and is sorry because two petals has come of her rose. She wants him to fix it. So, he takes the two petals, puts them in his suit pocket and gives the flower back to zuzu, who believes her dad fixed it! Here she is;

Thanks again Ilva for your sweet mind!

Love,
heart

Ilva Asote September 11, 2009 at 9:49 pm

Dearest Heart,

I imagine you winking your eyes for two times when you say „Zuzu”! „I am ZU (wink) ZU (wink)” :)

Two red petals of Zuzu’s rose… Oh, dear Heart, and again and again… I see two red cherries…! And… I don’t know if this time it makes me happy or… sad.

But I’m very glad to hear that lilies are your favourite flowers!
You mentioned that often in religious paintings there were lilies depicted. Yes, you are right. In religious paintings and… I remember a painting of a great Russian philosopher Helen Roerich – „Urusvati” (painted by her son or husband – unfortunately, I don’t remember now who exactly painted her; both, son and husband, were painters) where near one of her foot grows a rose but near the other – a lily. So, I like this painting. Both of those beautiful flowers – red rose and white lily – do not compete there…

Kisses for you, Zuzu! :)

This week I have had the most wonderful man visiting in my home. His name is Jaya, he is 79 years old tomorrow, and he has spent his life working with some of the poorest people in India. He spent some time in Norway and Sweden more than 40 years ago where he took some education and worked for a year. Then he had enough money to go back to India to buy a plot of land and build a school for girls. The school is called Jagriti Vihara – “A House for Awakening”. Here girls could stay to study, be protected, learn self defence and get education. Today boys also attend this school. Over the years thousands of children have gotten education here, some of them have gone on to further education. This is all thanks to Jaya – a true Worrior of Light, and a man who knows a lot about spirituality and old Indian knowledge in several areas. To me he is as close as you get to Jesus today. All his life he has been devoted to helping others, and he has nothing more than the clothes that he wears. He still has supporters in Sweden and Norway – several schools are helping to collect money for the school. Still they need a lot of support. So if there are some rich people out there who would help us help Jaya and the Jagriti Vihara project, yuu can seek information on internet. Contact adress for further information is email adresses are: jagvih@gmail.com or jagvih@yahoo.com

Dear Kalinka,

One day you asked me to tell you about my Heaven – about the Stone. I told I would do that at 2, October, 2009.

But today I noticed one of Paulos tweets on Twitter. And this tweet is simply wonderful! So, I couldn’t resist and to tell you little bit about the Stone today.

Paulo says: “Each day we have one foot in a fairy tale and the other in the abyss.”

That is about me and the Stone. I know telling about it /the Stone/ I’m with one of foot in a fairy tale and the other – in the abyss…

The Stone is a part of the Chess. The Stone is the main piece of it.

“Doe, railways…. red ballerina shoes and… the moving train…” – I told you about this dream today. But I have decided – I’ll try to turn into a DOE… to jump ‘over’ the railways – “my abyss”.

Love you!

Asote

I’ve been thinking for a few days now what my life is going to look like next year..
2010 is a monumental year for me; a conference that I am working on will take place in march, I graduate, and the question comes of what next?

The organization I am working in provides every year many opportunities, and I had in mind what my next step will be. But I don’t know from where, came an idea that I can apply for a different position; the president of the organization in my country. Something that I have never thought of till recently, and something that is confusing me.

Both of the positions would be an amazing experience, an adventure to say the least but I am not sure which one I want. I am sure I will regret if I did not apply, but I am also afraid.

The difference between being a vice president and being THE president is huge, and that is what is scaring me. One minute I think “hey I know I can do this” but the next I am doubting myself and not sure what I want.

Advice anyone?

Much love <3

Good luck whatever You choose!

Thanks Heart!
Yesterday in my “chess tournament” with Annie, she posted some lines of Cavafy’s poem: “He will not be afraid of the destructive act: half the house will have to come down. This way he will grow virtuously into wisdom.”
“Ambitious Violet” wasn’t afraid of this “destructive act”.
A sad story, bur a good lesson…

Walaa September 11, 2009 at 5:25 am

Heart,

Thank you for this story. I have read it before, but it answers indirectly a question that I just posted..

My favorite part is ‘Ambition beyond existence is the essential purpose of our being.’ It is so true. I think in the story they mixed between greed and ambition. The difference as I see it; greed is wanting to have more, while ambition is wanting to be more.

Thank you again <3

Ilva Asote September 10, 2009 at 4:59 pm

Dear Annie,

Your task was: “SOCRATES, ARISTOTLE, PLATO”

1] Socrates (Classical Greek philosopher)
2] Plato (a student of Socrates)
3] Aristotle (a student of Plato)

My answer to Gharib was:

S.P.A. (SPA) or “Sanus Per Aquam” what means “Health by or through waters”

—————————————————–

I must say I know nothing about “virtuosity in wisdom” (you mentioned it in your post) but (!) I have heard that WATER is the only drink for a wise man…

Much love,
Ilva

P.S. Chess is not about “digging”. It’s about the art of enjoying life and “GLIDING” on the chessboard. /Asote (in Chess)/

Meu amor, meu respeito, e minha gratidão.

Anyway …Don’t worry about me..got the situation in control. Will write more in detail about that sometime.

why is it that unconditional love and sacrifice always go together?

like the sacrifices a mother makes for her child, the pain that she goes through even while giving birth, like the sacrifice Christ made.

when we love someone so much, why is there pain? if love is divine…and pain is evil.

it seems to me that people must not feel any pain if their love is unconditional…am i wrong?

hummm…god is imperfect, the world is imperfect…so why does everybody seek perfection? damn it!

Alexandra September 10, 2009 at 7:56 am

Dear Ankita, I have your questions too. I came to the idea that is because we are on Earth, not in Paradise. So, we have moments when we see parts of the Paradise, when we are happy, but , because we still not there, we have also parts of that profane life… Like pains…
I guess. The interesting things are that all pains disappear very soon if I feel happy, as erased. So dear , Wish you find your happiness .
Take care

These days I was thinking how much I miss going in some resort, or visiting new places. Because money troubles I was mostly in my city only. Today I took my dog for the walk, and went towards the park I use to go .Near the park dog changed direction. I wanted to stop her, but than I followed the dog. Maybe from some memories she took me to a place I was only long time before, is an old city wall, fortress, and there a small park. But what nice surprise, because now the park was all new , much nicer. So I had a new thing for today, thanks to my dog.
I already forgot how interesting the fortress rests are. Maybe once I will take pictures to share .

This article reminds us there still are many places without free speech. A blogger is arrested for expressing his opinion about Pope Benedict’s speech to the Vietnamese people. Nobody should be above the opportunity for constructive critic, not even the Holy Father. Distortions happens both ways in discussions, a mere explanation from each party is enough. Nobody should be put in prison for writing a commentary about public figures.

To compare this incidence. A young minister in a Baptist church in Tempe, Arizona last week publicly told his parish; ‘I wish something bad will happen to President Obama, for instance that he gets cancer and dies like Kennedy’, and his opinions went out in the press and he keeps insisting on his take. Locals are demonstrating outside this church and calling his speech ‘hate speech’, and quite frankly I almost think it should be criminal to talk like this about one’s president. But, no in the USA, we have the right also to hate, if we want to, even by a minister of a church, which supposedly should be a model of love. If I were the bishop, this priest would loose his ministry for quiet awhile, but prison, nah! :)

Marie September 9, 2009 at 1:11 am

Sincerely,

Savita Vega September 12, 2009 at 12:33 am

Indeed, it is a good thing that a president can’t die merely from the power of words and thoughts. Otherwise, Obama would surely be dead already. I live in Texas, which is die-hard republican (specifically Bush) territory, and almost on a daily basis I hear people making comments similar to those of the Baptist minister. I hear people making public jokes about getting a gun a shooting him, or about how they should storm the White House and take him down – truly violent threats, full of hatred and resentment. And, the fundamentalist Christian churches, so prevalent here, play no small part in filling the minds of the people with all sorts of anti-Obama rhetoric, supposedly Bible-based. It is killing these people that a black man is in office, and a democrat at that, and they not only want him out – they want him dead. It is disgusting, really, truly appalling, in my opinion, and especially the role the churches are playing in spreading and inflaming these sorts of sentiments.

I agree with you completely, Heart, on both accounts. In the case of the blogger, the punishment is wholly uncalled for. And in the other incident, which isn’t punished or controlled at all, there is a real danger that this man’s words could incite some maniac to assassinate this President, who, in my opinion, is the first ray of genuine hope this country has seen in years.

Justice, in these two examples, is completely inverted.

The Art of Little Steps

God, teach me the art of little steps
I do not ask for miracles or visions
But courage to walk today
Make me become attentive and creative
To seize at the moment knowledges and experiences that will touch me deeply
Affirm my choices in the repartition of time
Give me to sense what is essential and what is secondary
I ask for force, mastering of myself and measure,
That I do not let myself conducted by life, but that I organize with wisdom my day
Help me face with as much possible adequacy the immediate
And recognize the present hour like the most important
Give me to recognize with lucidity that life brings with it difficulties, failures that are occasions to grow and blossom
Make of me a human capable of joining those that are lying down
Do not give me what I desire but what I need
God, teach me the art of little steps

Taken from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
For my mother that is loosing progressively her fight against cancer
Mom I love you so much today and want to tell your soul that I do not hold anything against it

The good vs. bad…

The Jedi vs. the dark side…

Heaven vs. Hell…

No matter how you look at it, it will always be the same two side…the same fork on the road.
Yet, there tends to be a common battle for someone like me, and many others in the world, to get confused on which side is the good and which side is the bad.
It is also common to see the good in the bad, and not see the good side at all while it is staring at you in the face!

I was faced with a decision of how I can continue my training? Should I stay here or will the best training be overseas? Millions miles away from everyone who loves me and who is dear to me.

The training overseas looked very tempting. It would be 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Of course with some time to sleep as well. I would meet new people and there would be people who would not be very fond of me. I would get highly paid for this training overseas and come back learning TONS of things apart from training. The culture, how people react, how they think, getting to know a new wave of generations on the other side of the world. It looked so great that I was tempted to do it.

Then someone was knocking on my door…it was my intuition. My intuition gave me the pros and cons of training here at home. My intuition never told me NOT to train overseas…but it never told me to go either. So I was stuck…both are really great opportunities…I decided to rest on it.

As I am sleeping, gave myself a clear mind and dream about whatever my subconscious wanted to. Then as I was half asleep, the answer to my decision came to me. As it did, I fell asleep with a smile.

I have concluded that my intuition had given me a clear path of what was good and was was truly bad (evil). I just did not see it through the confusion and the temptation from evil. And as so, I saw that going overseas for training would be the bad decision. Even though it had many great perks of going, but it was just a mask, and the grass would not have been greener on the other side. It would have made me into someone dark, evil, strong but harmful. Evil has a great way of tempting you great things with lucky charms, but in fact they are just “corn flakes”…bleh!

The great decision is to stay here at home, and continue training 4 days out of the week and being patient.

Isn’t that the Jedi way? Greatest things comes with determination, commitment, perseverance and lots of patience…because if not, then patience would not become a virtue.

Both people, good and evil, can have the same strength, the same endurance, the same fighting moves…but it is the good, the Jedi, heaven, that will come out winning because of their inner energy…gained from patience which ultimately gives them faith of the unknown.

Liina.L September 8, 2009 at 12:18 am

It’s interesting, how Your dream gave You the answer. I see dreams almost every night, and some of them are predictions of the future, which eventually come true. Real events in which I have contact with.

One Thursday night I once dreamt of something that told me that if I go out in the city on Friday, then something bad will happen. I felt it, I understood it, but I went against it and then I was there, in the city. And later I oversaw a stabbing. I was about 1,5-2 meters away from being hurt.

After I realised it, I always trusted my dreams, whatever they told me.

So this week’s quote is that “The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.”

I say, the greatest pleasure is when we know our allies and we know our “enemies”. We should know, what to trust and what not to trust, and live out our dream, like someone said, not just out of desire doing something exactly the other way it’s told, but out of respect for ourself and others.

All best,
Liina

Heart September 8, 2009 at 1:41 am

Uhu Warrior? The Jedi’s went to galaxies far, far away?

When it comes to training, learning it is good/evil wherever it take place, home or away. I’m not sure I follow your pro and cons for the two choices, and it’s not up to me to disagree with your final decision.

I will dare to claim you learn more if you travel to get training, but I’m not sure if it’s more good or evil. Most adventurers meet challenges along the way, which they concur, and then grow has humans or as Jedi’s or Dart waders :)
